INTRODUCTION
Professional Studies refers to the term which is used in order to differentiate academic
programs which are applied or interdisciplinary in focus. These studies are mainly related to
students and they are also trained enough to make sure expected standards and adequate service
delivery in the best practise of the profession in which they will work. The following assignment
will provide literature review on importance of training and development programs on improving
efficiency of employees and organisation along with discussion related to case study will also be
done. Additionally, it will discuss about impact of 4th Industrial Revolution on business of
university education along with reflection of learning and development with the help of studies
(Ashworth and Perera, 2015).
MAIN BODY
1. Literature review of business related topic
Impact of training and development program on improving efficiency of employees as well as
organization
According to Asad. M. 2019 training refers to the process through which individuals
knowledge about specific area is enhanced. There are many changes taking place in external
market such as alteration in technology, up- gradation of software, installation of new machinery,
etc. so with the help of training, it is easy to enhance their knowledge training not only improves
knowledge of workers but it also benefits to organisation too. There is development in the
knowledge of employee with training and they are able to use and implement new techniques at
work place. There are many organisation working, so if employees does not get opportunities of
growth and development then they might switch to other brand (Leki, 2017). There are many
benefits of training program of employees such as improved performance, enhancing knowledge
about latest trends, satisfaction and morale development, etc.
There are different methods through which knowledge of workers can be improved by
providing training such as on the job and off the job training methods. Training and development
requires time as well as cost because it requires proper planning and then its implementation.
Hence it is essential to understand which method is best and relevant in context of learning and
within budget of organisation.

On the job training- This method refers to the process which is provided to new
candidates in organisation at work place. So in this case there is implantation of learning at work
place as well so with the help of on the job training individual is able to implement it at work
place while learning, so it is easy for workers to determine flaws in the method. This method is
time and cost effective because when Candidate is learning, they are implementing it to their
operations, so in this case organisation is making candidate learn in working hours, so
individuals are productive for organisation (Lenger, 2018). Under this method: coaching,
mentoring, job rotation, apprenticeship, etc. are included with the help of which people are able
to candidate is learning. Job rotation is the process through which individual is transferred to
some other department or similar designation, through which they are able to learn what is
happening in other departments. When workers are working in different departments, then it is
easy for company to perform activities with getting flaws because of absence of employees. So
with job rotation, working style of overall organisation can be maintained and employees have
knowledge about working style of different departments. So with the help of on the job rotation,
there is growth and development organisation and knowledge and skill of employees.
Off the job training- This is the method under which employees are send to some other
place apart from business organisation and its environment. There is requirement of more funds
for arranging off the job training methods and this is conducted for more people. There is use of
different methods such as lectures, conferences, vestibule training, case study, role playing, etc.
which can be performed by taking individual at some other place. This method is performed for
experienced employees of organisation with the help of which they can refresh themselves and
perform activities in appropriate and relevant manner (Lukinbeal and Monk, 2015).
Today era is dynamic because of change in market policies, working style, consumer
demand, etc. so in this case there is benefits to organisation as well as workers. As per view of
Ryan Ayers, 2019 as there are some personal targets to workers as well which they want to
achieve. When employees are getting knowledge about latest trends, they are competent to
external market. Benefits of training and development for employees are as under-
Improvising weak points- With the help of training and development program,
employees are able to improve their weak points. For instance: workers lacks in IT skills, then
with the help of training program, worker is able to improve this skill. This also assist in
performing activities as comparison to other employees.

Able to work in dynamic environment- Training program is conducted for the purpose of
learning new techniques which is implemented in organisation. Hence this makes individual able
to work with dynamic environment. This assist in getting knowledge about new and latest trends
and improves efficiency of candidate (Piotrowski, 2015)).
Improving confidence- When individual have knowledge about new and latest trends or
techniques, then they have confidence and they can perform activities with full efficiency. When
employee is performing best, then this ultimately satisfies personal as well as organisational
goals. Due to lack of confidence, personality of candidate is also weak and they are not able to
communicate properly in front of other.
Increment in opportunities for career development- There are different job opportunities
in industry for individual because of dynamic environment. As these days, demand of consumer
is changing with rapid speed, so in this case it is candidate have different career growth
opportunities if they are learning through training program. For instance: if organisation is not
providing training and using old and traditional methods of working, then in this case they can
switch to other organisation.
Training is not only improvise performance of worker but it directly or indirectly assist in
organisational growth and development. So it is essential for managers to analyse different
training and development methods and then select best method among them. Benefits of training
and development program for organisation is as under-
Improves employees performance- With training, there is improvement in performance
of workers with the help of training program, so this makes performance of all over company in
positive direction (Pratt, and et. al., 2015). According to change in working style of organisation,
then with the help of training, it is essential for employees as well to accept new change. This
makes positive change in all over growth and development of company.
Delivers happier consumer- Consumer are the main sources through which
organisational success because if consumers are satisfied, then they are ready to avail services
from organisation. Hence when there is use of new technology and equipments, then quality of
services and products are more up to date quality, so this provides competitive edge to company
over others in industry.
Tracks employees performance- With training program performance of workers is
improved but at the same time, there is requirement of complete and specific knowledge about
3

workers about their new technology. So when management of company thinks to provide
training, then they track performance of worker and analyse which area they are lacking.
Managers can understood difference between performance of workers before and after training.
So improvement can be made in overall organisational growth and development.
Increases engagement- Training program is for improving knowledge and skills of
workers, so in this case there is regular interaction with workers about any issue or impact of
training. When workers communicate regularly, then in this case there is increment in their
engagement and this creates awareness among workers and they also take interest in operational
activities (Slater and Cusick,2017).
With the help of above discussion, it is clear that training and development program are
relevant and significant in current market because it is important that employees have to perform
activities as per current market. So if there is change in working style, then it is essential for
managers to understand what has to be done through which they can perform activities with use
of latest techniques. According to Abdulraheem Sal. M. R., 2016, with training knowledge of
workers improves, they perform activities with more efficiency, so in this case there is
satisfaction of their personal aims and objectives which is get knowledge about new tools and
techniques. When workers are performing activities with use of new and latest techniques their
efficiency is maintained but at the same time organisation is also able to produce products and
services up to the mark. So in this case it is clear that performance of employee assist in deciding
about the over all performance of the organisation. There is requirement of complete and specific
knowledge about ways through which training can be provided by analysing methods and areas
which has to be covered. According to ... There are many workers working, so managers has to
select method which is beneficial for all the individuals. Managers have to communicate about
training method to workers through which they are ready to learn new and different techniques
(Staples, Laflair and Egbert, 2017).

3. Impact of 4th Industrial Revolution on the Business of University Education in Industrialised
World
The Fourth Industrial Revolution urges us to ponder the assembling procedure, esteem
chain, appropriation and client assistance forms. In the in the interim, the eventual fate of
instruction stresses the enormous need to look past these territories and deliberately use the

"Internet of Things" to set up the coming workforce for the difficulties ahead (Graham and
Regan, 2016). Colleges underline their job in forming future innovation by being the test beds
for advancement and teaching who and what is to come. With the upcoming of this revolution it
has been possible to make improvement in the working systems of educational institutions. As
with the development in technology, there has been several changes which are made in the
education system because the syllabus of students have changed and they are made aware about
the new changes in the technology so that the upgradation of their skills and knowledge could be
made possible. So these kinds of changes are made in the working education system which are
important for the education systems to take into consideration and make the availability of same
for the students as well. Certain amendments have also been made in the education systems such
as providing education through SMART Classes which have changes the ways of providing
education to students such as learning of new ways, use of new technologies and many more
which are important for students to know about for their proper growth and development. It will
help in their future career growth and development. As with the development in technology, the
scope of education is also increasing. There many many schools which are providing their
students with education at International level (Gray, Kruse and Tarter, 2016). Three schools are
in London and one in Qatar which focuses on providing their students with different subjects in
an international context in accordance with the different nationalities of class members.
Conventional instruction has contributed extraordinarily to the present degrees of modern
development and mechanical headway. Be that as it may, all together for advanced education to
convey future ages with the correct arrangement of aptitudes and learning; a basic inquiry must
be posed in regards to how advanced education foundations would be influenced by the Fourth
Industrial Revolution and how the conveyance of instruction will be changed. There are various
open doors accessible that will shape the job which can be embraced by advanced education in
the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Joining the quality of the customary advanced education with
the expanding pattern of MOOCs speaks to vital strides to scale quality instruction.
As people gain instruction from various colleges, work at assorted and worldwide
associations and take an interest effectively with various activities, his/her character is never
again attached to one association (Jensen, and Jetten, 2016). Making personalities dependent on
each establishment one gains from or association one works at could be confounding and
overpowering; which bring up the issue of "What is our character and where would we be able to

discover it. The trust put in Higher Education foundations could be the driver for Higher
Education to lead the formation of a worldwide character that is compact crosswise over colleges
and associations. Advanced education isn't restrictive nor constrained to one belief system; its
transparency and long history of trust makes it qualified to go about as a caretaker for securing
this personality and consistently make condition for information and ability achievement.
Adjusting advanced education is more vital than any time in recent memory. Be that as it
may, the difficulties ahead must be considered so as to guarantee powerful and quick change.
With the diminished open budgetary help for advanced education; colleges need to think
deliberately in regards to strategies to use their involvement in qualifications, trust and
personality to offer new benefits. Moreover, advanced education authority should be less chance
indisposed particularly in this universe of problematic change. It is never again an alternative to
continue doing things the old way; development and tolerating change are presently essential for
survival. However, there are also some misuses of technology which are being performed by the
students. There was a different reason for which it has been implemented but the use of this
technology is also taking place at a different place (Kibirige and DePalo, 2017). Students are
making use of technology to the reason for which it was implemented, instead the use of
technology was done for remaining all purposes another than the implementation purposes. So
this was also an important issue which created negative impact on the mindset of students and
the bad impacts of 4th Industrial Revolution is clear from the dis parties happened due to
upcoming of this revolution. Education is an important thing which shapes the future of students
and the country as well. So it becomes important to setup proper education system that should
focus on maximum development of skills and knowledge of students and to make them creative
in their field of interest. With the help of making creative to students, the possibility of more
developments in the field of technology and many more factors increases. This will help in the
growth and development of the country as well. Not only the education systems but it is also
important for the government also to look over the educational systems and bodies whether they
are doing their work in appropriate manner or not. In addition to this, it is also important to them
to make their focus on the continuous evaluation of strategies and policies related to education
system so that the needed rectifications could be made related to growth and development of
education systems and to provide the students with the best possible education (Klibansky,
Panofsky and Saxl, , 2019). The contribution of teachers in the profession is also required as with
6

the help of their support and guidance it is possible to know about the actual need of students that
what is their need, what they are expecting in relation to the change in education system.
Teachers are the individuals who are in direct contact with the future of a country. So for sure, it
is true that the teacher have full knowledge about the changes to be made in the education system
and policies so that the best level of education could be provided to them for their own personal
and professional development. This revolution has possible with the challenges that are being
faced in real world, so with the upcoming of needs of people solution to the challenges faced are
found out. The implementation of Information and Communication Technology in the education
system is also beneficial for the education system as with the help of this technology, it helped a
lot in making changes in the current scenario and also preparing the future generations for the
rapidly changing environment such as the working, cultural and social environment.
Disparity would even now be a worry for advanced education since in excess of 4 billion
individuals are still disconnected without access to the web. The majority of those individuals are
minimized families who live in creating nations with no entrance to moderate instruction (Leigh,
2016). Albeit advanced education can be increasingly moderate contrasted with other training
choices, advanced education establishments need to consider the most ideal approaches to
coming to underserved populaces where instruction can fill in as a solid strengthening and
change device. So it is important not only for any one system but also for every individual to
understand the importance of education in life and with the ways which could help in making
improvement in the overall education and in the interest of everybody. This will help in shaping
the future of a country as well as the world in right sense and way.
4. Personal reflection of learning and development
With conducting this study, I am able to learn about different skills and it is easy for me
to conduct research in near future. I conducted literature review on impact of training and
development program on organisational and employee performance. So I get to know about
importance of literature review and ways to conduct it. This investigation is joint efforts of
different people, so I am able to manage and lead time. It is important and crucial for people to
understand their mindset and then plan for activities. It is essential for me to make proper
communication technique which assist in properly understanding changes which are taking place
in organisation. I am able to improve my interpersonal skills with the help of which I am able to
communicate with different parties. There are many workers which are working under team, so I
7

development team working ad development skills. I successfully divided all the literature review
activities among them. I get to know about different ways to training and development, its
impact on employees as well as overall organisation (Wilson, 2017).
In this study there is discussion about a case study based ASDA in which the company
implements a contracts with employees which abolish their rights due to which the situation of
conflict arises among management and workforce. So I am clear that there is difference in what
is shown and actually what it is. So I get change in my working attitude. I have positive attitude
towards performing work in ethical manner. I have negative attitude for management of ASDA
that they are not able to frame working efficiency in appropriate manner. I am came to know
about 4th industrial revolution in education in which there is change in technological
development and people are able top work with latest and updated technology. But after studying
I found that there is negative impact of 4th industrial revolution as well i.e. people are misusing
technological assessment, increment in cyber crime, etc. so I got changed my perception
regrading this revolution. There is insecurity among people after technological growth and
development because they have fear for data security and their personal life is also becoming
public (Young, and Dean, 2015).
I develop my behaviour to passive under which I use proactive approach to perform
activities. I am able to perform activities within specified time and information is collected
through secondary sources. So I gain data collection and analysis skills which assist me to
conduct research in near future. There are some bad happening as well such as personal conflict
among workers, difference among views of individuals, etc. due to which I am not able to
perform activities in appropriate manner. I am able to perform activities in synchronise way but
there are some individuals which are not performing activities as per guidelines, so this affects
working style of whole team. There are some issues among team mates and they are not
interested in sharing due to which this affects corporate working style of team. I am able to
improve my presentation skills through which I can make people aware bout case happened in
ASDA. This also makes it easy for me to understand that there is requirement of ethical working
which assist in performing activities in appropriate manner. I am able to learn about language
and grammatical aspects which has to be considered. So I can communicate with confidence
with others. So my personal and professional objectives are achieved.

There are some recommendations as well if I can draw with conducting investigation
through secondary information i.e. it is essential to understand working style of organisation.
There is requirement of complete and specific information about industrial revolution through
which I can perform activities in appropriate manner (Young and Muller, 2015). If similar
project is assigned to me then I am able to research topic properly and it is easy to conduct
activities in relevant and appropriate manner. There is requirement of complete and relevant
information about industrial revolution, soi am able to perform research over it. I prefers to have
some interaction section with team mates through which some new ideas can be generated. This
makes me clear about different ways through which best and appropriate manner. When there is
innovation in team, then people complete work with fun and this makes easy completion and
achievement of set targets. There must be small and achievable target. When individual achieve
it, then there must be reward to them. This keeps individuals motivated and they are ready for
better engagement.
CONCLUSION
From the above data, it has been concluded that academic and professional studies are of
great importance for the growth and development of an individual. In addition to this, the
conclusion is drawn about getting knowledge both related to personal and professional
development of an individual which is important in order to make them competent to external
market. This provides information about industrial revolution which has positive as well negative
impact on overall societal growth and development. There is positive impact on growth and
development of employees performance as well as overall organisational development with the
help of training and development session, but managers of organisation has to evaluate which
method is best in terms time, cost for company and learning of individual has to be evaluated
before and after training program to analyse gap.
