2 Group work to achieve an objective
Although I prefer working on my own, yet I can operate equally efficiently in group as
well. Once, in a group of four, we were given the task of visiting a nearby social work centre and
write a report on it. I was appointed as a team leader and we had to complete the task within two
weeks. All began well since we were good friends and the on one day two of my teammates
entered into an argument where they wanted to back out form the project and refused to do any
work further. We had divided the tasks amongst us and we had already made 2 to 3 visits to the
social care centre. There argument would have jeopardised my work and grades as well but then
I used my convincing skills on both of them. I fist individually counselled both of them and
ascertained the root cause of argument. One team member had interfered in the work of another
because he had not accepted a certain idea that he had proposed. I immediately brought both of
them together and confronted them stating that these petty issues cannot come in between the
work that is to be done and no compromise can be made with the grades. The issue was resolved
effectively and we were then able to meet the deadline.
3 Identification of a new approach to solve problem
Once I was sitting next to an Indian girl who was visually impaired and she used to
communicate using Braille which she carried with her all the time. I wished to communicate with
her and help her since she was new in the class and there was literally no one who could help
her. I thought it was my responsibility to familiarise her with the surroundings of school and
therefore I decided that I would learn Braille since this would act as a common communicating
ground. She used to understand English but could not speak it properly and therefore I took
YouTube lessons where I learnt the Braille at a basic level and was able to communicate with
her. I felt really good since we could now communicate and after initial difficulty, she learned to
speak English clearly as well which further simplified our problems. A little efforts on both our
parts helped us both in gaining what we wanted and additionally we became good friends as
well.
4 Managing different priorities in short time
In my previous office, there was a particular duration of 2 to 3 months where my
workload was extremely high and I even had to manage 5 to 6 new trainees who were appointed
under me. I had to complete a number of tasks that I was allotted on a daily basis and
additionally I had to ensure that the trainees working under me understood that task that they

were required to perform and further even completed it on time. Initially for a few days, I was
not able to manage my work because my work was getting hampered by the consistent queries of
the new joinee where I had to explain them everything and I was regularly getting delayed. But
after some days, I formulated a strategy where I explained the tasks that the new employees were
allotted, once in the morning and asked them to come to me in case of problem only and in that
case too, they must have a solution that they think is appropriate. This made them work harder
on themselves and I too was able to manage my workload efficiently and we all were able to
complete the tasks allotted to us on time.
5 Persuading others
I have already illustrated above that my convincing skills are really well developed and I
can easily persuade another person to act in accordance with my actions. One such instance was
when we wanted to hold a fest in our college that would help us in giving the exposure that we
needed so that different companies could get attracted to our college and percentage of students
getting placed could increase. But the teachers and management was denying stated that the
exams were scheduled nearly and this would hamper the schedule of study. I decided to convince
my dean in our favour. I explained to him that it is necessary that we hold this fest because when
more companies will come to our colleges, the chances of students getting placed would increase
and therefore the college will get positive publicity thus attracting more students and helping in
improving the name of the college in positive context. I was abler to convince him and we were
able to hold the fest.
