During my job spent at Subway I as able to develop several key skills which will help me attain a decent
job profile in the hotel industry going forward which is one of my main goals. The hospitality industry has
gone through major overhauls and difficulty challenges owing to the relentless pandemic. My time spent
in Subway has granted me great mastery over my time management and I am an efficient multi-tasker. I
have also become adaptable and versatile due to the routine nature of my job experience and these
competencies should fit in nicely as far as gaining a carer pathway in hotel industry is concerned. I have
also travelled far and wide in search of jobs and to satisfy my travelling nature and this has given me a
varied outlook towards various forms of hospitality which should also help me going forward in my
career in the hotel and hospitality industry (Varma et al., 2021)

 Communication skills – One of my major weakness is that I am not a good communicator as I struggle to

competencies that I will need to develop for my short and midterm goals is gaining core knowledge of the
hotel industry through practical work experience and study.

Step 1
Gaining a better hold of my communication skills by engaging in group exercise, learning about communication essentials from videos and online courses
along with public speaking activities such as debates and extempore. Initially I will practice the content in front of the mirror and after enough confidence
has been built, I will gradually start undertaking frequent participation in such events. This step toward improving my communication skills will be done
over a period of 3 months which is ample time to see noticeable improvements.
Step 2
The second step towards achieving my goal will involve me learning about the core concepts about knowledge and operations which are performed in
the field of hospitability by leading hotel chains to boost my chances of landing a good job in such firms and establishments. I will study various books
and journals related to the aforementioned industry and master the basic requirements of anyone looking for an entry level job in hotels over a study
period of 4 months.
Step 3
This step of the action plan will involve me applying for a valuable internship in the field of hotel management as one of the key weaknesses identified

through the SWOT analysis involves me not having any major work experience in hotels which can be detrimental in the future. I will look to gain a work
experience of at-least 1-2 years through multiple internships at entry level job positions in large hotel companies which will gradually add up and offer
me growth in the field in the near future (Farmaki, 2018)
Step 4
I will also look to supplement my career progression in the field of hotel management and hospitality by engaging in holistic and academic pursuit of
knowledge. I will get into a decent college and complete minor specialist degrees in the field of hotel management to enrich my resume and stand a
chance to gain better internship and part time work opportunities. The major timeframe for the accomplishment of this step is 2 years (Kong et al., 2020)
Step 5
The final step of my action plan will involve the pursuit of specialist extra courses which will not only help me in gaining better internships but land me
managerial level job opportunities in the future. Some examples of courses that I am going to pursue involve food production, food and beverage
services along with culinary certificates. These course completion outlook will be done within a period of 1 year with the major hope of gaining better
opportunities post the educational degree and internships (Goh and King, 2020)
