INTRODUCTION
Effective communication is basically the process of conveying and transferring the
information from one person to another person through utilization of signs, symbols etc. Main
aim of this report is to study important of communication in academic life and impact on
professional life.
This report gives an overview of Driscoll reflection model and reflection.
MAIN BODY

Driscoll reflection model
Driscoll model of reflection is basically the reflection model which is being used by
individuals for gaining an insight of the particular event or activity and reflecting upon one's own
experience.
What
This stage of the Driscoll model basically relates to the description of a particular event
or activity. For example- During my academic life, I was assigned a project of biology in a team.
This project was basically about giving the presentation and report related to the functioning and
metabolism within human body (Fontaine, 2018). The tutor divided the teams for the project and
each team consist of around 10 members for the completion of project. I was in a team where my
senior was the team leader and was responsible for leading the whole team. The project was to be
finished within 5 days and each and every student was given some responsibility of the project.
So what
This is the another most important stage within Driscoll model and mainly addresses
analysis of the p[articular event. In short, this stage mainly relates to the learning which has
emerge as the result of the entire event. In this project, I was given the task to prepare for the
presentation about the metabolism within human body in an attractive manner such that it results
in the passing grades for whole team. During the project, I was highly intimated as well as
nervous as I was not much aware about how to make an effective presentation and what
essentials need to be considered while giving the presentation. Besides this, due to my introvert
nature I was hesitating to ask from my team leader and other students regarding the presentation.
I was highly anxious in interacting with other team members and this made me realize that I lack
behind in terms of effective communication (Snowdon, 2018).

Now what
This is the last stage within Driscoll model which basically relates to the actions as well
as activities after occurrence of incident as well as experience. The whole project and event
helped me to understand the importance of effective communication whole working in a team.
Due to my hesitation and fear, although the presentation gave the team members good marks but
still my presentation was not highly effective as it has to be. This has provided me the new
experience of effective communication. If I would have taken advice from my team leader or
from the students then the presentation might have been highly efficient. The whole event has
now made me more confident and I can now work in a team for any project. I will improve my
communication skills by taking communication classes from my seniors and tutors and by
seeking the help of internet sources (Fontaine, 2018).
LO2
Reflection
Working on the project has helped me to improve my communication skills and
influenced my performance to a great extent. The whole event of the project has eventually
provided me the knowledge of skills as well as qualities which are required for working in a
team and this has helped me a lot. As this event enabled me to recognize that my communication
skills are not shaped thus I started working on it by seeking help from tutor, attending
communication classes, taking help of communication video on YouTube. This eventually has
increased my communication skills, and I am now more confident and optimistic of working in a
team. This has eventually increased my overall performance level as I am able to handle various
projects given in a team. Along with this, this has also helped me to secure higher grades in the
class and made my performance trajectory high. I am now able to interact with people regarding
various aspects and does not face any problem in sharing my views (Hall, Covarrubias and
Kirschbaum, 2017).
This whole project and event has not only enhanced my performance level but also has
influenced my behaviour towards others. Initially, before working on this project is used to think
that each and every person have somewhat same views and opinions on a particular topic and
thus shares a common base of knowledge. But this whole event has helped me know that while
working in a team, each ad every team member have their own viewpoints and for attaining
certain goals and excelling in future it is highly essential to respect their opinions. This has

changed my behaviour towards other and made me positive. I am now positive in supporting the
views of others and actively listen to the team members of what they are saying and why their
views are different. Previously, I used to behave rudely when any person or my classmate does
not support my views or opinions on any topic but working in a team for the project has
positively changed my behaviour towards looking at other individuals (Mumby and Kuhn, 2018).
The entire event has also increased my knowledge base as well as has provided me the
well-through experience. While working in a team, I came across the various essentials which
needs to be considered. Firstly, I came to know that effective communication plays a great role in
life of an individuals and thus this eventually increased my knowledge about the tactics of
properly interacting with others. Along with this, this has also increased my overall experience
of performing in a team and has provided me the enough knowledge of how to work in a team
and importance of cross-cultural differences. This experience will help a lot in my professional
life and will help to work effectively in an organization having large number of employees. This
event has also increased my experience of making through presentation which will be helpful for
me while working in a company (Trenholm, 2017).
