TASK 2
Reflection
Description
In the previous module I had to make a presentation on the concept of Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR), how it is implemented in various business organisations and the various
advantages and drawbacks CSR’s implementation provides to these businesses in terms of their
operational performance, productivity and profitability in the consumer markets. As I had never
worked in a business organisation prior to undertaking this task, I had no inclination about the
philosophies of Corporate Social Responsibility and how it affects a business organisation’s
productivity and profitability in the consumer markets or why it is even implemented in the first
place. To perform this task effectively, I decided to research a lot upon the concept and
principles of Corporate Social Responsibility in business organisations and how it affects their
operations and functions. For researching upon Corporate Social Responsibility, I consulted
multiple peer reviewed journals, published textbooks and online websites in order to get a deep
understanding of the topic involved and its implications on a business’s productivity and
profitability in the consumer markets. Although initially I was confident in my ability to handle
such a project, I was surprised at the amount of information I had to research and the various
distinct sources in had to consult in order to procure relevant data (Christie and et.al., 2018).
Through determination and perseverance, I managed to make a presentation upon the topic
involved and provided all relevant information that was needed for the project citing and
referencing the sources from which I was able to get the information from, in order to make it
easier for others to also consult my sources if they had to research more on the topics I discussed
in the presentation.
Feelings
When I was assigned the project by my superiors, I felt a little hesitant as I had no prior
knowledge of the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility, what it meant and why business
organisations implemented it into their operations. With some guidance and aid of my superiors
concerning the sources I had to research upon in order to find relevant data, statistics and

information, I was assured that I would be able to accomplish this task with little confidence,
perseverance and determination. While giving the presentation to my peers and colleagues I felt
immensely confident about the presentation, as I was able to procure all of the information that
the project demanded. My superiors and peers were also confident that I would we able to
achieve the task and were very supportive during the entire process. Upon completion of the
task, I felt relieved that I was able to complete the presentation within the prescribed deadline
and was pleasantly surprised by my own ability to not only research upon such a foreign concept
but to also understand its implication on the business organisation’s productivity and profitability
in the consumer markets and the various advantages and drawbacks Corporate Social
Responsibility presents.
Evaluation
Through undertaking the previous module and making the presentation, I ended up
learning significantly about the concept and principles of Corporate Social Responsibility, the
reasons business organisations decide to implement such a practice into their operations and
functions and the advantages these practices provide to these organisations in terms of their
operational productivity and profitability in the consumer markets. I learned that Corporate
Social Responsibility is a strategic business model that is implemented into a business’s
operations with the intention to make it socially responsible for all of its operations and the
impact their operations have on the general society and environment (Hildebrand, 2018).
Learning this I was curious why exactly would businesses choose to implement such a costly
strategy into their operations and later learned that Corporate Social Responsibility provides
businesses with multiple benefits in their operational productivity and profitability while also
providing these organisations with a competitive edge over their perceived competitors in the
consumer markets, which all business organisation highly seek. I also learned about the effect
implementing Corporate Social Responsibility into a business’s operations can have on its brand
value and reputation in the consumer markets and how profitable this can be for business
organisations.
Having learned so much, I feel that undertaking the prior module was a significantly
positive experience for me. While researching upon Corporate Social Responsibility and the
additional topics, I found out that my researching skills are quite sharp, as I was able to procure a

lot of relevant data about of organisations have currently implemented Corporate Social
Responsibility into their operations and the financial benefits it provides to them. I also noticed
that I was proficient in using the various information and communication technologies in order to
aid me in my researching endeavours as I had to consult numerous online websites and review
journals in order to procure the relevant data and statistics about business organisation’s
implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility. On the other hand, undertaking this task also
highlighted to me the areas in which I need to improve upon. While conducting the necessary
research through various sources, I ended up losing the track of time which was a major concern
for me at that point and forced me to stay awake the entire night prior to the day I had to give the
presentation to my superiors (Hopkinson, 2016). I have always had issues managing my time
constraints effectively and last module highlighted that fact to be quite apparent. Another
challenge I faced was my ineffective public speaking skills while giving out my presentation,
due to which I ended up stuttering and stammering quite a lot, owing to inexperience with my
second language which happens to be English. I realised that I have ample opportunity to
improve my effective communication skills in order to better articulate and convey my message
to others in English.
Conclusion
If I had to undertake the past module now having been exposed to my personal strengths
and weaknesses, I can confidently say that I would be able to perform a better job while doing it
in less amount of time. If I had been able to manage my time properly, I would have also been
able to make my presentation more dynamic and interesting by using additional relevant images
and visual tools in order to better articulate the purpose of the presentation and the topics covered
to my peers and colleagues. Managing my time efficiently would also have allowed me to make
my presentation much more concise, clear and would have presented me with some much needed
time to self review my presentation in order to reduce redundant information which I ended up
including as I thought it was relevant to the topic at hand while conducting the research. Given a
second chance, I could also work on my public speaking skills, at least relating to the
presentation at hand in order to decrease the stuttering, stammering and glancing at my
presentation in order remember what I was supposed to say by practising the entire process
beforehand amongst friends and peers (Rowe, 2017). This would have allowed my to present my

module with little to no glitches and would have made for a significantly more positive
experience for everyone involved.
Action
In order to improve upon my personal weaknesses, so that the problems I faced while
performing the last module do not reoccur while performing any future tasks and modules, I have
made a personal development plan which will allow me to address my ineffective
communication skills relating to second language English and my time management skills in
order to grow and develop professionally and excel in all of my future endeavours. This personal
development plan is designed to address my specific weaknesses and details the methods I would
need to implement in my life in order to grow and develop (Grit, 2019). The personal
development plan also includes time duration it would take me to address my shortcomings so
that I can better gauge my progress at the end of the duration.
