INTRODUCTION
Personal development plan is refer as the desired skills through which a person is involve in
the process of learning in order to meet the objectives or goals. There are various methods that
one can use to develop its skills like consultation, mentoring or providing assistance, and such
activities include both an individual or organisational goal. Through this report, concept related
with professional or personal development plan is explain. Further, short term, medium term or
long term goals with personal examples is discuss. Lastly, the value of personal development
plan with an examples using identified goals is elaborate.
1:Professional or personal development plan.
Professional development:
It is the process through which an individual is in improving process and expanding its
abilities with the help of opportunities related with training or by observing others perform the
job. This helps staff members to boost their morale or build confidence. It also benefit to include
the high quality member in organisation. Professional development include the development of
oneself in role that one can perform in their job and looking for the options to improve it (Santos
and Miguel 2019). With the help of professional development, one can improve the skills that is
necessary in the job so that the role should be carried out effectively, hence will also continue
thorough out the working life.
The main examples through which professional development is occur, for example, training
related with IT, Accounting and statistics, knowledge of legal or various law and health or safety.
This also providing various opportunities in all those career where one can go. For instance,
taking some specific task in order to acquire experience, raising a job profile with presentation,
engage in volunteering job etc.
Personal development:
An individual working in any job is encouraged to go through their goals, try to bring
improvement if required and maintain a personal development plan. Hence, planing for future is
must whether it is related with career or practical life, for instance, its essential to build an
effective plan if working in health sector. Goal setting is paramount to think about the bright
future so that it bring the motivation to transform the vision into reality. The goals should be
desirable, practical, realistic so firstly a person should look into its strength, weaknesses or its
chosen learning styles that it develop plan accordingly. The PDP plan should include a plan that

development need and finally a method where those areas are found in which one can need for
further development (Salter,and Rhodes 2018). A PDP help in recognizing future goals for
upcoming year and found out methods to achieve these goal.
An effective PDP includes personal plan, it should be dynamic so that the working document
should be updated as per the changes, moreover it need to supported by some real evidences and
finally should be review on a regular basis.
If a person wants to became a good leader, better mentor, therefore the professional personal
development plan is essential. The continuation in the growth related with all this knowledge can
open number of doors while provide guidance to conquer with unexpected challenges.
2:Short term goals and its value with suitable examples.
Short term goals helps in achieving goals, improving a career prospectus and usually consists the
objectives that is achievable within a short time frame. There are various types of short term
goals that is related with financial, academic or health, all these goals have small objectives so
that a person is capable in achieving the long term goals. Creating short term goals is first step to
focus more on future target, its helps to divide more complex task into smaller one and making it
easy to become more desirable. Following are the main examples of short term goals:
Improving communication skills
I think better communication skills are important in career in different ways. I make this goal
so that it help in my professional life, for example it help to avoid the work conflicts, effective in
team presentation and work and building confidence while talking with other team member. If I
face any problem or issues in handling the project management than communication become
problem solver so the proper discussion is occur between the management to find out solutions.
However, if accurate communication is not happen in the team than the problem become more
complex or its resolution will become struggle (Hanson, and et.al 2018).
Develop confidence
Its easy to think about long term goal but difficult to achieve it initially, so it become more
essential to build shot term goals in order to build more confidence for future prospectus. So, my
next short term goal will be able to gain confidence so that its reduce my struggle in job role, as
it also made other team to believe that I will achieve the target easily ans that solely depend upon
my level of confidence. It become convenient to build confidence if I break down all task into

smaller one as it will become more realistic. Initially, if I started to accomplish my all objectives
than the level of confidence is automatically increase in order to meet long term objective.
Work on Procrastination
The last short term goal should be to work on habit of procrastination and should try to avoid it
in all my daily work. If I become lad back person or become lazy to do the job tasks, than at the
end it will become hard for me to achieve desired goal or objectives and unable to deliver my
projects on given time (Hechtand Harackiewicz,2018). There are many ways that I able achieve
this goal like to handle the hard stuff first so that it upgrade my skills for further work, need to do
single thing at as time and avoid wasting time in multitasking, should be able to remove all
those distractions that become hurdle in task. Additionally, if the bigger projects is assign than
try to manage the work by dividing it in smaller ones, should make the to do list at first-hand as
a result of this I able to organise everything.
3:Medium term goals with values and personal examples.
It will take at least four months to three years if working on medium term goals. Its important
to know what exactly should need to do and how to accomplish all these goals. Short term is
easy to achieve while it take time for implementation of medium term goals. These goals are
beneficial in gaining more knowledge or become expertise in various areas of work. Following
are example of medium term goals:
Starting Business
My first personal medium term goal should be able to start a business on my own. Its
essential to decide at university life that what are you going to do in future. These type of goals
helps in deciding for the upcoming years, increase the knowledge, abilities or capabilities and
identifying the goals at early stage, hence all these factors having significant effect on the career
or business that I choose to start. If I plan about my career at initial stage than it will help me to
enlarge personal growth so that I have clear objectives in life that what I am going to do after my
academic years (Ahmad,and Zhang, 2020).
Learn Second Language
My next plan is to work on my language and try to learn new skills so that it will benefit in
both personally or professionally as well. While learning new language it will help me to able to
connect with others as being a bilingual, it expand the scope to start a conversation with wider
range of people. Again, with understanding of another language, it build so many opportunities

and providing a significant competitive advantages. While, learning different language is also
boost the cognitive skills for example, it helps in improving memory, develop problem solving
skills or an individual is build its cognitive skills. Additionally, I also able to increase my
concentration power, enhanced my listening skills. Having this skills will allow me to improve
the task and monitor the surroundings conveniently while doing the task with more flexibility
and creativity.
Develop Mindset
Having a develop or growth mindset is paramount and links with so many useful factors like to
improve the business, enjoy while learning, build good human relationship etc. all this attributes
will impact on my health, happiness and relationships (Raymond, and Raymond, 2019). Work on
having an ideal mindset is useful in maintain a positive relationship with other co-workers and
increase output in the workplace. Those having a fixed mindset do not have the less confidence
but there confidence is more fragile.
4.Long term goals with examples.
Long term goal simply define simply a specific goal that an individual is going to achieve in
the future, however it take a significant amount of time to accomplish this in future. Generally,
long term goals is usually took five to ten years to accomplish and sometimes it need several
smaller steps in the whole process. Below are the personal examples of long term goal:
Obtain degree
My first goal of long term is to earn an extra degree so that it benefit in my knowledge to
refresh and improve the overall skills along with opting of specialization. It will also create a
positive impact on career as the manger will notice to those candidates who take extra effort for
upgrading the personal development (Karimov, 2020). So, setting a goal is crucial as it helps in
approaching every task with full dedication. In order to gain another degree, its essential to work
in the time management, so to decide the best use of time, properly allocate timeline for each
task and do follow it honestly.
Develop leadership skills
My another skills is to build the leadership skills so that it provide essential concepts relate
with its methodology. It build various opportunities for my career as it will allow me to more
engage in wider aspects of organisation. Another main advantage that it provide a chance to lead
people and bring positive changes in their lives. Leadership skills can be learn with observation,

with utmost practice and through many years of experiences by work under the great or inspiring
leader.
Be a mentor
Being a mentor can help in my career and add more value to my leadership skills. The goal to
become a mentor in future will help me in realizing my overall goal and can assist to shape the
better leader in me and also help the workers for future (Sagiv,,and et.al 2017).

Having a PDP is vital tool in every aspects of life as it not only provide great benefit in
planning for appropriate career but also helps in building the current skills. One can think about
to learn something new, while another one wants to achieve the new heights in career, so having
an authentic PDP is definitely help in setting the clear well thought plan and aim for future career
and keep the motivation high on continuous progression (Lan, and et.al 2017). If a person is
follow the PDP in personal or professional life,than they will become dedicated, enthusiastic and
gain an ability to learn nee things everyday. For example, leadership skill will benefit in overall
personality growth and helps in professional life as well, become as good mentor is also
beneficial in achieving long term goal.
