INTRODUCTION
Personal and professional development is the process of learning which help the
individual to learn something new which improve the individual’s personal or professional life.
With the help of personal development people able to face the challenges which become barrier
for them. In order to improve their skills they have to focus on their managerial as well as
leadership skill such as time management, presentation skill, stress management etc (Brown and
Militello, 2016). Every individual have some quality which make people different from others.
This project report cover various topics such as define theory which used to enhance quality of
an individual. In addition, it concludes the workshop exercise where people face various
challenges which further enhance the personal experiences that use in the future activities.
MAIN BODY
1. Define and describe the quality
The distinctive or essential property, attribute or characteristic which is possessed by an
individual is referred to as quality. It denotes assets within humans which makes them different
from others. Each and every people have some quality which makes them different from others,
but it can be its strength as well as weakness. It will further specify the characteristics of an
individual such as their feelings, thinking process, behaviours etc. Personality traits used to
evaluate the skills of propel and they get score accordingly. If I talk about myself, I am good in
communication skill which is my strength as well because it provides me confidence to do
anything. At the time of conducting any program, I have to communicate with many people in
order to provide information for the completion of work. In the work place, I have to connect
with people by using my effective communication skills. It makes me capable that people can
understand my words. It is an impelling feature which is within me and brings confidence as I
know I can respond in an appropriate manner as well as create affirmative impact on the mindset
of individuals.
In order to define my quality, I used the theory of Johari window model which is an
technique that used to develop individual behaviour or make them better one. This model
developed by the Joseph Luft and Harrington Ingham in order to utilise themselves as self-
groups and use this as corporate settings (Bubb and et. al, 2016). I am going to implement this
theory on myself which make me able to elaborate myself as a person or as a group. It also used

as professional life. Organizations also required skilled people who have some relevant qualities
which make business able to achieve their desired goals & objectives. In order evaluate my
qualities, I used Johari model which categorised into four phase such as open area, blind area,
hidden area and unknown area. Open area known as, when I know about my personality and
behaviour of other people, emotions, attitude etc. So I change my behaviour accordingly which
make me able to perform as per the situations. In blind area, find the spot which provide the
information where group is unaware about it. Blind spot can reduce with the help of effective
communication through taking suggestions or feedback from others. Some of my quality which
known by others but I am unaware about me. In hidden area, there was some qualities that
known by me but hidden from others. In the last unknown area, some information is unknown to
you and unknown for others as well. With ten help of communication I am able to observe many
things which helps me to understand the perception of individual (Maruniakova, Rihacek and
Roubal, 2017).
Communication skill is the strength for me because it helps me explore my other skills
and make me presentable to share my thought with others. Effective communication generates
new ideas which is beneficial for the business to innovate something new for the development of
business. With the help of effective communication, individual able to put their feelings into
words. This is the way, where I used to develop my strength such as, my organization organize
an event where they invite very famous people which can be our potential investors. So I and
business have to present ourselves in well manner to attract them to invest in our project. That
time my quality used or provide us opportunity to expand our thoughts. My senior said to me, to
prepare presentation and present in front of many people. In result, my peers or superiors see my
quality as well as appreciate it.

Communication is my quality which becomes my strength in various manners that can be
related to attributes, behavioural preferences and values. Attributes will be considering as traits
which any individual have such as honesty, good sense of humour, dependable etc. At the time
of communicating with others, I try to observe other’s mine with the help of communication
which help me to know about individual person. It is my strength which helps me to develop my
personal as well as professional development. Individual behavioural mainly depend on four
types of personality such as optimistic, trusting, pessimistic and envious (Motallebzadeh,
Hosseinnia and Domskey, 2017). I have ability to understand the behaviour of individual which
make me able to strengthen my values as well as increase the dependency, loyalty, efficiency,
honesty and many others. All these things improve the individual efficiency regarding work or
make me able to achieve business goals & objectives.
In the working area, I have to collect various information which utilise by the
organization into different aspects. Collected information physically advising and used to get
competitive advantages. Individual have their own value which is used in critical situation in
order to improve the situations. In Organizational contexts, I have to coordinate with different
types of people which help me to improve my personal as well as professional qualities. With the
help of my communication quality, I am able to supports or perform operational activities which
become my strength. Make connections or regular interaction will help me to influence others
with my communication skills or generate values, integrity or enhance observing power (Ragan,
2018).
4. Challenges in the workshop exercise and the experiences
In order to develop my personal as well as professional development I was conducting
various seminars, workshops etc. Through the seminar I face many challenges which create
problems and some of them mentioned below:
Lack of knowledge: Due to lack of knowledge I will take time to understand things but
others are more capable who grab the information very fast. It will negatively impact my work as
well as personality. This aspect also affects my confidence as when interaction occurs and it is
about specific topic about which I do not possess any knowledge it declines my confidence. So
have to enhance my knowledge or weak areas in order to maintain my position in business or
generate value in front of management.

and how to improve or present in well manner. The improvement can be only made in case if I
know what I need to possess. To have the affirmative results it is important to acknowledge the
limitations so that appropriate methods can be utilised for this.
Education and training: Organization have to provide necessary training & education
because every person belongs to different background and having different education level. It
will further impact the individual performance and then overall organizational performance.
During seminar or workshop, I did not have enough knowledge so I am unable to provide
effective training and development.
Challenge of convergent thinking and innovation: Individual has to change their
thinking or perception regarding any things. I have face the convergent thinking where I need to
change my thinking process as per the situation. Individual have to perform as per the situations
where people can show there thinking process according to situations. They have to take
necessary steps for the completion of task (Serin, 2017).
Lack of knowledge of different models: Due to less knowledge regarding different model
I have to face many challenges. I need to enhance my knowledge for the personal or professional
development so I am able to give answer for the entire question which any one going to ask me.
It makes me able to respond in any situation effectively.
Organizational structure and needs: Every business follows the different organizational
structure which generates problems. Before giving any kind of training they have to evaluate the
organizational structure and then provide training effectively. Every program have to set their
goals or priorities to get the success but because of some people who does not give efforts and
face the failure in the seminar and the event.
Low decision making power: I have to take various dictions in the complex situations but
I am unable to make it because I have less confidence about my decisions. This takes lots of time
and also implies that I do lack analytical thinking which forbids me to think practically with
respect to peculiar situation. So I have to take time and analyse my decisions which required
suggesting with my seniors for the effective results.

Contradiction evident is the situation where people have different though process or ideas
which are totally different and they argue that which one is right or wrong. During the workshop,
I feel very unconfident because I have string communication skill but due to lack of knowledge I
face various challenges. I am unable to face people or deal with them because I don’t know that
how to represent myself in front of crowd. At the time of performance appraisal I was working
hard to get upper position in the organisation. But in the workshop, management also see my
performance which can negatively impact on my appraisal. During the appraisal each and every
aspect will be consider and forward to the management for the final decisions. Due to our
weakness, individual have to face negative impact which affect the performance and in future
they face challenges which impact the personal and professional development. I have good
communication skill but along with them, I have many weak areas which required improving for
effective outcomes. My organization conducts an event where I was selected for the presentation
because of good communication skill but in the end another person got the chance. Due to lack
of knowledge regarding my project, make me unable to present in front of huge audience. I face
various challenges where my strength does not work or impact my personal or professional
development. I think that effective communication skill is enough to get success or achieve
something but now I realise that knowledge is also required for their growth (Wareing and et. al,
2017).

my weakness into strength that further provide me benefits in future.
