AI Summary
This assignment presents a detailed design for a professional development workshop centered on deep learning, incorporating concepts of character strength and U theory. The workshop aims to facilitate participants' understanding of deep learning principles, challenge their existing thought processes, and foster awareness of broader systems perspectives. The report outlines the workshop's structure, including the setting, objectives, and the integration of various activities such as question-making, case studies, role-playing, and overviews, to suit different learning styles and personalities. It also addresses the allocation of time for each activity, provides instructions for participants, and identifies potential barriers, such as lack of knowledge or time constraints, along with strategies to overcome them. Part 1
Preparing a professional development workshop
A workshop is a place where the participants does the work and practice the same in the
guidance of experts (Leavy, 2016). The people can learn by trying again and again or by getting
feedback on their work. So a workshop needs to be developed once in a week for humans.
To prepare a professional development workshop, a person requires to set the objective of
developing a workshop. The name of the workshop will be the Fundamentals of Deep learning.
Here, a workshop is to be designed on the topic of deep learning which consists of the character
strength. The main objective of the workshop is to bring out the concept of deep learning based
on U theory by the experts of a different level. It will explore the character strength and core
virtues of several approaches. The workshop will define the various strategies to handle the
multiple challenges of deep learning (Litjens, et al., 2017). A group of five people were included
to take active participation in the concerned workshop. The professional development workshop
is going to be held on Wednesday and Friday of the week and it will continue for five to six
hours each day with additional workshops which are scheduled on Saturday. The workshop will
take place in a large room where there is a tall table in the center surrounded by high stools. A
whiteboard will also be there in the room so that the team can describe their concepts clearly.
The workshop will comprise of various tasks that each of the participants has to do within the
allocated time (Crosby & Bryson, 2018). The workshop will be designed to understand others
about the concept of deep learning. The participants will be instructed by the instructor on how
to do the activities of the workshop at the allocated time.
The concept of Deep learning - Day 1 of the workshop will describe the idea of deep learning.
Deep learning can be discussed in the two stages of "U" theory which are: the first one is to
challenge the habitual ways of thinking or learning and the second one is to increase awareness
of learning among the people (Güsewell, & Ruch, 2015). The “U” theory tells the people to see
the whole ways of how they interpret the situation and then they realize the transformation of
their ways.
The day two will discuss the character strength of the people who are engaged in a workshop or a
business. It will help the participants to know how their character and will to identify their

strength regarding the work. The character will help the people to do the right thing which is
productive as well as profitable. The strength of character is a significant resource for a company
as it leads to the success of the business (McEvoy, van de Ven, Blind & Slinger, 2018). Core
virtues are used to identify the family of character strength. There are various types of core
virtues for recognizing the character strength such as:
Core virtue of wisdom
Core virtue of courage
Core virtue of humanity
Core virtue of justice
Core virtue of temperance
Core virtue of transcendence
These core virtues will be discussed in the workshop for developing the concept of deep
learning. The professional development workshop will develop to describe the concept of what
all the people learned from that (Gayton & Kehoe, 2015). It will divide the activities of the
workshop among the participants as pert their personalities.
Activities included and the integration of activities
The activities will be included in developing the workshop are as follows:
1. Making questions on the topic of deep learning
2. Case study can be used to know the concept
3. Find out the answers of the questions
4. Play a role to implement the potential of the participants
5. Overview the whole actions
The following actions can be included which will make discovering of character strength more
interesting:
Developing Knowledge and wisdom: Perspective, love for learning, judgment, curiosity
and creativity- Music can help to view life's new perspective intellectually and
emotionally. Learning is not limited to any boundary and the books helps effectively in
gaining knowledge.

Developing Courage: zest, honesty, perseverance and bravery- It is the matter of risk and
how can anyone perceive the risk as fun. People should not wait to make a difference in
someone else’s life.
Developing Humanity: Social intelligence, kindness and love- People have to understand
the meaning of life, the things human want to do correctly and have control of the things
that are done (Ludlam et al., 2016)
Addressing Justice: Leadership, fairness and Teamwork- It will be taught that the lives of
the needy are not always about lack of facilities and money. The study will show the
story of poverty which is not heard yet and help in solving the construct of the social and
how to fix to move forward (Littman-Ovadia & Lavy, 2016).
Allocation of time
The time will be allocated for each activity of the workshop so that activities can be implemented
successfully.
Participants Activities Time Allocated
A Making questions 30 minutes
B Case study 1 hour
C Find out answers 30 minutes
D Role to play 1 hour
E Overview 1 hour
Instructions for activities
Following are the instructions for activities:
Making the activities relevant: To earn the attention of people the content that is
delivered should be useful. Initial research will help (Littman-Ovadia & Lavy, 2016).
Accommodation of different styles of learning: Exclusive method of learning has to be
created. Some people prefer visual learning likes photos and videos whereas some prefer
music, physical activities and written words.
Change in a layout of the room: The attendees of the meeting can be given a surprise by
providing comfortable seating arrangements, providing a space which is full of vibrant
color, nice texture and is full of light.

Playing of music: Music helps in setting the environment and energize the audience
(King, 2017).
Keeping the matter short: Overloading the audience with information can lead to the
brain shut off. A session can be a maximum of two hours.
Potential barriers
There are different kinds of barriers which a workshop may have to face and so, the workshop
team requires to overcome such barriers (Linkins, Niemiec, Gillham& Mayerson, 2015). There
may be a lack of knowledge, lack of time, lack of materials or lack of support from the experts. If
some of the participants of the workshop are not aware of the development opportunities then, to
overcome such a barrier, the workshop needs to help them by providing guidance. Time is an
essential factor that will profoundly affect the activities of the workshop. The participants will
have to devote their time so that they will learn deep learning through the workshop (Boe, Bang
& Nilsen, 2015). The various tools or materials are required for developing a workshop, so the
team tries to gather all such tools for implementing the tasks of the workshop successfully
(Elliott & Overcash, 2018).
A diversity of activities to suit the personality of participants
The name of the participants will be participant A, B, C, D and E. Each participant has its
personality and they will do each task in their way. They have different strength and weaknesses
which can be identified by their work. Participant A is right in making the question on the topic
and other one participant B is good in studying case studies. They will be given the task of the
same what they can do. Participant C will find out the answers to each question which will be
given to him based on the topic. Participant D will be provided a role to play in the workshop
which improves the potential of the participants. Participant E will overview the whole activities
that the others do in the workshop so that they can see if there are any adjustments needed.
