Career Planning Reflection: Value and Capability Audit Project

This assignment presents a student's career planning reflection, developed as part of an applied business challenge. Value Audit
My stint with the “Eiscon Construction” gave me this opportunity to test my personality in a real
working environment. Every day I learned a few things about myself from the point of view of
the others. The development of a “professional personality” under the purview of a value audit in
the shaping up phase of the career adds an adequate personality (Vreis, 2005). The value of”
integrity, honesty, loyalty, teamwork, and tidiness” was my biggest strength because my seniors
trusted me for sensitive information. Skill development and professional personality
development are two different aspects of professional development and this is why it is important
for an individual to identify certain human traits first (Five Skills Auditors Need To Succeed
Today, 2018).
The need for hard Skills
I am planning to develop my capacities as a marketer in the field, it is the most challenging and
lucrative area of any given organization because of the hard challenges attached to it. The hard
skills of “Data analysis,” Consumer behavior analysis, “Command in the means of presentation,”
Technological expertise in the presentation software” and “expertise in the reading of the
scenarios from a financial purview” are some hard skills that I am required to imbibe in my
professional portfolio with an intention to gain the status of a professional in the field.

Capability Audit

It is very important for a person to look at herself from the point of view of probable employers;
most of the employers prefer to go for a capability audit that consists of certain sets of skills.
Author Karl Smart emphasizes the needs of “effective proof statements” to showcase the talent
of an aspirant (Smart, 2004 ). This is why I kept my job portfolio confined to the talents and
knowledge that I can corroborate in front of an interview board with the help of adequate and
substantial proofs. One of the most important skills of a professional is associated with the ability
to communicate the facts in a balanced fashion. The concept of “effective proof statement”
taught me this art of setting the right boundaries for my presentations. Under the current
conditions, I am setting my destination as a successful marketer, the art of presentation is
important for me and the phase where I will face interviews will act as a primer for me.
Sample interview questions published by Monash University also consolidates this viewpoint of
mine. In general, most of the interviewers want to discover the best qualities of an interviewee
(Sample job interview questions, 2013). This is why there is no harm in presenting a blocked
area of knowledge where they can trust my capabilities and fix my suitability for the job or the
post. “Effective Proof Statements” can fix an area of questions for the interview panel and
conduct an interview in an area where I am comfortable.
The guidelines provided by the Australian Public Service Commission can also be taken into an
account. An in-depth study of these guidelines gave me a general idea of the job demands that
can be placed on the shoulder of a public servant ( Fact Sheet 5 Addressing selection criteria,).
While developing my profile as a future marketer, I am searching for the set of qualities that are
required in my profession. The APS guidelines clearly define the stakeholders involved in the
process. The spectrum derived by these guidelines can be learned as an ideal framework while
preparing for other job interviews. I learned about the pre-conditions related to a job and scope

of duty from this code and imbibing this knowledge in the preparation of my job portfolio for
future interviews (Robels, 2012).
The process of an interview and probation period also presents an opportunity in front of the
organizations to understand the capacity of a probable employee to manage projects and difficult
situations. My stint in the Eiscon introduced me to the challenges related to marketing. During
this stint, my seniors checked my worth in accordance with my distinction in the marketing-
related subjects.
While projecting myself for the future interviews I am looking upon to project my practical
experience in Eiscon. Although it was a small stint, however, I utilized this opportunity to
implement my theoretical knowledge of marketing in the practical operations. During the course
of future projections and interviews, I wish to project my organizational skills and in front of
other companies as well (Busines Courses ).
Social media and other networking sites are emerging as a great platform where an individual
cannot only connect with other individuals, in the coming future I am planning to increase my
activity in this domain to showcase my “socializing skills at the workplace.” It will also establish
the fact that I am a team player and has this in-depth study of organizational behavior. It is very
important to ensure a presence in the cluster of the people belonging to the same professional
stream.
Customer service skills are an area where I am lacking because I never got direct exposure to this
type of operation. It is true that I am meeting clients from across the world; however, here I am
playing a supporting role in performing certain presentation related tasks. I am aware of the fact
that while attending the same meetings I am required to play the role of a team leader and this is

where my real test will come into the fray. The subjective knowledge of this area emphasizes
strongly the values of the practical experience and I am lacking behind in this area. In order to
fulfill this gap, I will take the support of the data analysis in developing some insights about
consumer behaviors. Apart from it, I will also expand my knowledge in the field of human
psychology with an intention to understand the reaction patterns of humans under various types
of unpleasant situations.

Hi, this Samantha, I am an aspiring auditor with a proficiency in the field of marketing. My
competence in the field of analytical software and interfaces makes me a prompt respondent with
an ability to deliver the goods in the fast-paced global world where the customers are loaded with
opportunities and the involvement of services attached as the value addition with the main
products has become the criteria of worthiness.
I am fit for joining any company dealing with an international clientele because of my
proficiency and adaptability in multiple languages. I have a working knowledge of English,
Bahasa Malaysia, Chinese, and Cantonese. This linguistic proficiency makes me fit to handle
the projects where individuals from different cultures are coming together to create a platform
of business. My in-depth knowledge of marketing also makes me fit for critically assimilate
the demands of the international consumers ahead of the barriers of language and culture
while deriving a solution with the help of some predefined templates.
My knowledge in the packages of SQL and SSPL makes me fit to flourish in an environment
where the “Big Data” driven solution holds the key status in the process of decision making. This

knowledge also gives me the ease to become a part of the “digital reporting culture” and “cloud
environments” which has become the need of the hour for the companies that are expanding their
businesses in the international domains.
