INTRODUCTION
Professional identity is skills of an individual which they use to complete a specific task,
operation or job role. Along with this, the organisation which has been chosen in this report is
Carnival Corporation and Plc, which is one of the biggest cruise service providing organisation of
world. They use to perform their functions from Europe to different parts of world. They were get
established in 1972, by Ted Arison. In this report, as discussion will take place on the benefits
which stakeholders get due to professional development, along with this skills required for specific
job role in organisation (Cech, 2015). Also, a study will take place on theories and approaches an
individual can use for analysing their skills, along with learning theories used by them for making
improvement. Also development plan will get designed for improvement in specific job roles along
with different interview methods and their strengths and weaknesses.
TASK 1
P1 Examine the key benefits of on-going professional development for different stakeholders within
a specific organisation.
Carnival Corporation and Plc, is one of the biggest cruise service providing organisation in
the world. They use to operate their business from Europe, and use to serve customers at
international level by providing their products and service of cruise. The main stake holders of them
are, customers, employees, top management, investors and other. Therefore, it is very important for
them to perform their operations in effective manner, so that they can gain some benefits along with
increase in benefits to stakeholders. Some of the benefits, which their stakeholders are getting by
their on going professional development are as follow :-
1. Increase Retention : As the key benefit which stakeholders get by the on going professional
development in Carnival Corporation and Plc is, it help in increasing the retention of them
with them. As this help organisation in giving their best, which results in increase in
satisfaction level of employees, customers, and other stakeholders of them.
2. Build confidence and credibility : As every one related to organisation love to feel special,
one like the feeling that their importance is reducing in organisation ( Eteläpelto and et. al,
2014). Therefore, for Carnival Corporation and Plc, it is very important, as professional
development will help them in making each and every stakeholder of them feel like special,
and also help them in getting good results, so that their confidence over organisation can get
increased.
3. Make succession plan easier : Also, it is very important for an organisation to have proper

play vital role, as improvement in performance will help them in easing the process of

charged, so that they can perform with their potential and also can give their best to

and services in hospitality sector, therefore, it is very much essential for them to keep their
employees energised. This can be done by professional development plans, as this will help
tehm in gaining opportunities so that their performance can get improved.
5. Improved efficiency : The professional development plans used by organisation help them
in increasing their production level along with efficiency of them. As their employees start
working with their potential and also their operations start performing in better manner. This
will help Carnival Corporation and Plc in increasing their efficiency, so that they can meet
requirements of their customers.

organisational context.
There are ample number of job roles which play their operations in Carnival Corporation
and Plc, and for performing these job roles it is very important for them to have proper skills in
employees, which will help them in performing operations in effective manner. This part of report
will explain about the job roles which is one of the most important for an organisation providing
hospitality service. Front end manager have several duties which they have to play in Carnival
Corporation and Plc, one of them are communicating with employees, so that they can solve their
problems and also can provide information required to them. Also, it is duty of frond end manger to
manage all the operations and employees working in their organisation, so that they can produce
and provide better service to their customers ( Ferguson, 2017). For completing all these tasks, it is
very important for front end manager to have skills which will help them in completing the work
with ease. Some of these required skills are as follow :-
1. Communication : For front end manager in Carnival Corporation and Plc, it is very
important to have proper communication skills. This will help them in solving the issues
faced by their customers and also help them in giving appropriate information to them, so
that they can get satisfied. Along with this, having proper communication skills will help
them in making appropriate communication with their employees, so that they can explain

2. Human resource management : Along with communication, it is very important for
manager of Carnival Corporation and Plc, to have proper skills of human resource
management, so that they can manage number of employees assigned to some specific task.
This will help them in managing total number of employees working in an organisation and
also help them in distributing them according to their skills. This will employees to perform
their best and also help in getting work in which they have interest.
TASK 2
P3 Assess own abilities, skills and competencies for a specific job role.
To being a front end manager in Carnival Corporation and Plc, it is very important for me to
evaluate my skills. This will help me in gaining knowledge about my competencies and skills, so
that I can make appropriate changes in them. This will also help me in improving my performance
and functionality in organisation ( McCarthy, 2016). For assessing my skills and ability, I can use
different self assessment model, which are as follow :-
1. The EFQM excellence model : This is one of the most commonly used framework in
organisations of Europe. This will help me in identifying the strengths and weaknesses of
mine and my skills, so that I can get knowledge that what improvement is needed for me and
how I can achieve them. Along with this, it help me in improving my benchmarks, so that
overall performance of mine and Carnival Corporation and Plc can get improved easily. For
example, my skills are to handle 50 employees and solve their queries and also monitor
them while they use to perform their business. But, I have improve this and have to make it
to 75, so I have to change my benchmark from 50 to 75, so that my skills can get improved
and also can perform according to it only. This will help me in improving my soft skills,
which leads in gaining ample number of benefits to my skills.
2. The CQAL model : It stand for Common Quality Assurance Framework, which I can use to
assure that the quality of my performed work meet the criteria of minimum performance or
not in Carnival Corporation and Plc. This will detail me about my performance in
organisation, by which I can get updated about the skills which are required by me, so that I
can achieve my goals and also can improve my skills. This will also help me in making
improvement to my performance in the favour of organisation. This will help me in
assessing my hard skills like, speaking, writing, so that I can make appropriate changes in
them.

development processes.
After assessing soft and hard skills of manager in Carnival Corporation and Plc, it is very
important for front end manager to use some theories and approaches which they can use in
personal and professional development process ( Moran, Burson and Conrad, 2016). Some of these
theories and approaches are as follow :-
1. Behaviourism : This is a learning theory, which is concerned with the behaviour of a person,
that they are willing to learn or not. Here, front end manager of Carnival Corporation and
Plc, have to change his behaviour, accordingly, so they can learn new things. This will help
them in making improvements to their skills and also help them in attaining their goals and
objectives. Along with this, this will manager of Carnival Corporation and Plc to make their
mind set towards change, that they have to adopt the change in their skills, which will help
them in improving their performance and functionality along with their efficiency.
2. Cognitivism : This is a learning process, where learning take place according to internal
behaviour of a person, rather then external pressure. This is a type of learning process which
is governed by internal part of front end manager in Carnival Corporation and Plc, not by
external entities. This will help them in gaining more information as compared to
behaviourism, which results in making appropriate changes in the skills required to them.

Resource manager of Carnival Corporation and Plc was so attractive that I went to give interview
for job. The interview process which is used by Human Resource manager of Carnival Corporation
and Plc was, Structured interview, which is generally a formal type of interview. Beneath are the
detail of conversation between me and interviewer at the time of interview :-
Me : May I come in sir.
Interviewer : Yes, please.
Me : Good Morning sir.
Interviewer : Good morning, please have a seat.
Me : Thank You sir.
Interviewer : Tell me something about your self.
Me : Sir, my name is John Chilli, currently I am working as front end manager in XYZ organisation
from since last 2 years, and I have completed by graduation form ABC university from this much
percentage.

this interview process, which are as follow :-
Strengths :
1. This help an interviewer to ask some well standardised questions to their interviewee, so that
they can get standardised response by them.
2. Also, the structure, format and sequence of the questions for all respondents remain same in
this interview process (Strengths and Weaknesses of Structured Interview, 2019).
3. In this process, an interviewer is presented there so that the confusion and misinterpretation
can get avoided.
Weaknesses :
1. This is one of the most time consuming process and also require huge cost to complete this
step ( Xu, 2014).
2. Misinterpretation of questions by interviewee will lead to failure of interviewee process.
CONCLUSION
Form the above report, it has been concluded that, professional identity is individual's skills
and approaches which they use to apply for completing some specific task or job role. Along with
this, there are ample number of benefits for stakeholders which they can get by professional
development. Also for specific job roles, it is important to have specific skills and competence in an
employee. Along with this, different models and theories can be used for analysing self skills, also
different learning theories will help in making improvement in these skills. Also development plan
is very much helpful for an individual to gain information that what methods they will use and how
much time will they require to achieve their skill improvement goals.
