AI Summary
This portfolio assignment from Professional Practice Week 3 includes three main tasks: a self-leadership questionnaire, a reflective commentary, and a personal development plan (PDP). The questionnaire, adapted from Houghton and Neck (2002), assesses self-leadership behaviors through a series of statements rated for accuracy. The reflective commentary prompts analysis of the week's leadership sessions, focusing on learned concepts such as the importance of leadership skills, supporting team members, and the value of patience and motivation. The personal development plan requires the student to identify development needs based on the questionnaire and sessions, set specific goals for improvement, outline development options, and plan activities to enhance skills like creative thinking. The student also reflects on completed development activities and how new skills can be applied in the workplace, providing a comprehensive overview of personal and professional development.

Task 2: Reflective Commentary (300-500 words)
Answer the following questions on this week’s sessions. You may choose to answer the
questions one at a time or write in paragraphs.
From the overall sessions that is had attended till now I can say that all the sessions were
quite interesting and helped me to gain the new knowledge about the things that were earlier
unknown to em to quite extent. Moreover, today sessions was covered on the topic of
leadership kills and its importance in any workplace. Furthermore, I have realized that leaders
are ones that supports other people in a y group and provide them the right direction so that
certain goals are accomplished in right manner (Philip and Gavrilova Aguilar, 2022). Also,
the good leader is one that understand the problems of others and also remain active in
providing solution to the problems that have suffered by any of the member. Thus, I have
realized that to become the good leaders its is required that there is presence of certain other
skills so that proper roles and duties might be delegated to the group of people. Moreover, in
today's learning most interesting aspect of learning was to make people motivated to carry
out certain activities. This seemed to me quite interesting as I myself have analysed certain
ways like speaking positive statements, encouraging people, hearing other and much more
that tends to make other people positive in long run. Hence, it was quite creative and

innovative way of making people work for the certain challenging task. Furthermore, I am
not sure that the above listed things always work in all type of situation as I myself had not
practically applied in any workplace (Ashiq, Rehman Safdar and Ali, 2021). However, I was
told being the leader this practically works in almost all situations if other people tend to be
cooperative in understanding the situation. Also, one thing I have learnt that being patient is
very essential as it helps make leaders analyse the situation and the efforts that each
individual have contributed in making certain things work. Also, it helps in situations where
the chances of conflicts are very high as it would allow in hearing both the party opinions and
then reaching to any conclusion in the end. Moreover, I would be able to learnt more well if
after the learning sessions I have researched more about the leadership and the competencies
that are been required to achieve it. Furthermore,, things that I want to learn more would be
that how leaders work in big organizations and what are the strategies that are been used to
make employees wok in collaborative approach. Also, I would have able to learn more if after
the session I had asked certain questions with my professors so that more insights about the
topic have been gathered at the same time. Thus, I have analysed that learning is very good if
there is full interest and sessions like leadership will not only help me to analyse my current
weakness but would also help me to work upon them in well-defined manner so that same
might be applied while working in any professional area or any sector of my interest

3. Personal Development Plan
Think about the results of the questionnaire you did and the information from today’s
lesson. What have you learnt about yourself and your skills? Are you satisfied with your
results? Is this an area that could be improved? If so, consider making this topic one of your
Development Episodes.
Complete the PDP below by answering the questions fully with specific details. Remember
that it is normal for your ideas and PDP to change as the course continues and your
priorities alter.
STEP 1: Identify Your Development Needs
A. Why are you seeking development at this time?
I am seeking development this time because it will help me identify true potential
growth that exist in myself and will also allow me to develop myself to greater extent.
Furthermore, this development would allow me to garb better opportunities in the future.
B. What are you seeking to develop at this time?
I am looking to develop and improve my existing skills and beliefs so that I am able
to carry out things in more effective manner and also develop the required motivation for the
same (Foster and Schleicher, 2022). Moreover, through improved knowledge I would be able
to garb better opportunities in the future that is very important for my own personal growth
and development.
C Emphasis: What do you need? What is your specific goal?
Currently the most important requirement is development of creative skills inside me
that would allow me to focus on things in better manner and will also assure that I am able to
picture certain events so that things are carried out effectively. Also, I believe that I require
strong thinking and attentive skills to monitor the progress towards my goals and take
corrective actions wherever it is necessary so that no mistakes are made knowingly while
achieving certain goals.

STEP 2: Identify Your Development Options
D. What steps could you take to develop the new knowledge, skills and behaviours
Based on my own learning preferences and experience to develop the creative thinking skills
I would observe other people way of carrying out certain activities and also I would make the
habit of watching the online videos that provides certain steps through which task need to be
carried out to become more creative (Gyurova, 2020). Furthermore, I would practice it on
daily basis through solving the real life examples and developing solutions so that it might be
matched with the correct ones and also new insights are known each time
E. Considerations arising from ‘why’, ‘what’ and ‘how’
It is very important that creative thinking is developed in short span as it would help in
exploring the new area and will further help in remaining focused while carrying out complex
tasks. Also, the actual time for development of such skills would be given by me 6 months so
that I am very well aware and prepared mentally of not committing similar mistakes in the
future. Also, this skill would help me to remain positive all the time and think for the best
results in the future undertaking of any such events
F: Identify Your Development Options
1. Taking personal help from friends
2. Attending more group discussions
3. Participating in the quiz competitions
4. Seeking professional helps
5. Joining online skill development courses

STEP 3: Plan for Development Activities
G. Write down the steps you will take to accomplish your task.
The steps that would consider for developing the creative thinking skill in me would
be through developing the habit of more listening than speaking so that I am able to
understand and maintain the accurate level of concentration. However, one thing that might
go wrong is that I fail to practice this on regular basis and also if the original plan does not go
better than I would seek help from other persons so that proper guidance and support would
motivate me to excel in best of manner. Also, I would set target gaols so that my performance
might be measured in systematic way.
STEP 4: Undertake Development Activities
The list of development activities that have been completed throughout the semester is
1. Problem solving games
2. Communication skills
3. Practice dreaming to have wider aspect
4. Learning to pitch own ideas
5. Making time for cohesive creative thinking
STEP 5: Apply new knowledge/ skills/ behaviours in the workplace
By the developing the creative thinking skill I would be able to solve all the
workplace problems in independent manner without seeking the help form others. Also,
through such type of skill development I would be able to enhance my current knowledge on
how the actual complex work is carried out in any organization. Also, through this skill I
would be able to assist the management through providing various solutions that might be
used to make the daily routine task much easier or either in challenging time when the
creative solution are required to make the work simpler.

STEP 6: Review and Repeat
This new skill would help in my professional development as it would not allow me
to remain stressed and further it would also help me in gathering the required motivation so
that certain tasks are carried in best of manner. Also, I would be able to have the professional
development through this skill as I would focus on other competencies and would also
develop better engagement with my seniors so that bets results are derived in the end.
Furthermore, it would allow me to build strong network within the workplace that would
also further assist me better in the future. Also, I would be able to keep track of my progress
so that through such self-analysis I would take necessary actions for my own betterment.
