1. Self Introduction
I have been working as a production and quality control executive for the last three
years in the area of web content development. It is my job to ensure that all content that is
uploaded onto the website of the company that I am working for, is of the top most quality
and that it highlights the goals and the objectives of the company very clearly. I take special
care to review all the content that is uploaded onto the site, with all articles and blog posts
being scrutinized very thoroughly for relevancy and mistakes if any. All the content that I
supervise is repeatedly sent for revisions and further improvements to those who write the
content, so that the work that is uploaded onto the website is characterized by perfection
always. I take a lot of pleasure in the work that I do, primarily because I love writing and
editing. Editing work has been a passion for me ever since high school, a time when I loved
taking part in essay writing competitions and I actually fared so well in some of them. It was
at this point of time, that I realized that writing was my forte and that I ought to pursue a
career which demands a lot of writing all of the time, if I were to be a successful in my
professional life, which I can proudly say that I am today. My love and passion for writing
and my ability to be able to write on any topic or matter under the sun, is what gives me so
much pleasure to perform the role of a quality assurance executive today. My job role
requires me to supervise written content that is then used on the company website as well as
on social media platforms to disseminate information about the products and services that the
company deals in. As a quality control executive I get to ensure perfection in the work that I
do, and this makes me very happy and content on the job front.
When it comes to my qualifications, I personally believe that what helps me to be
such a success in the work that I do is the fact that I hold a BA and an MA in English, and I
have obtained a diploma in editing and publishing. All of these degrees and diplomas have
provided me with the technical skills and expertise that I need to bring to the table in order to

do my job better than average. While I was good at my work to begin with, working for as
many as three years now as a quality control executive in the domain of web content
development has positioned me to understand the tricks of the trade well, and client
requirements in particular, something that helps me to design and deliver my work in a way
that client needs are always satisfied.
2. Mega Trends and Challenges locally and internationally in Web Content
Development
The industry of web content development forms a part of the larger industry of web
development. Almost every business in today\s day and age in every part of the globe has a
company or organization website through which it reaches out to its target customers in one
or more than one location regarding the products and services that it deals in. It is now a trend
for companies to market products and services online and carry out transactions online too,
with the modern day customer preferring to order for food and clothes from the comfort of
the home rather than from a physical store Advertising and marketing of a business
internationally as well as locally is now seen to take place online for the most part with
social media marketing platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram being used quite
extensively for this purpose. Email marketing and blogging and are popular forms of online
marketing today, and for all such marketing needs, web content development has a crucial
role to play (Jensen and Delany 2016). One of the specific challenges that is facing web
content development today around the world, is the duplication of content, with work
being very easily plagiarized by individuals with poor writing skills. Coming up with fresh
and innovative content that contains key catchwords and phrases regarding the product or
service being advertised is also proving to be a challenge, due to the fact that people like to
think and debate less today and often lack the creativity and the grammar skills that are
needed to perform such a job well enough (Barrett, 2016).

My ultimate career is to be the best that I can be in the work that I do. I aspire to be a
perfectionist in my work always and not just for today or tomorrow. The goals of the
company that I serve are to be one of the top most providers of herbal remedies for skin
ailments. As the quality control executive of the web content development department, I aim
to make sure that the content that goes up on the company website and on social media
platforms highlight all the positive features of the products and services that are offered by
the company, and I make sure to use strategic words and phrases in content development so
that the attention of prospective customers is something that is automatically drawn to the
company when they visit the internet (Barrett, 2016). My goal is to advertise the products and
services of the company in the best possible way, ensuring that the attention of prospective
customers online gets drawn to the web page of the company immediately, increasing traffic
for the company website and ultimately in the sale of its goods and services. My goal thusly
is to serve the needs and requirements of the company in the best possible way by ensuring
the production and circulation of quality content regarding the company’s services that will
attract the largest possible number of customers to what the company has to offer, in the
shortest possible span of time.
4. Professional Ethics and Standards
One of the most important professional ethics and standards that I ensure always in the
work that I do is to maintain integrity in my work at all times (Barrett, 2016). I do my work
with love and integrity and this is something that I make sure gets reflected in the production
of quality content for the company that has recruited me. I am wholly devoted to meeting the
goals and aspirations of the company at all times, and I work tirelessly to ensure that the work

I am doing does not come across as half hearted or work done with a lack of commitment
(Carr, 2016).
Professional competence is another one of the professional standards and ethics that I
incorporate at the work front. I am a skilled writer and editor and I make sure to use such
skills to my best possible advantage so that the work that I do for the company is done in the
most flawless way possible, without any compromise being made in terms of quality. I make
sure that as a quality control executive with a work experience of as many as three years, I
ensure that content is produced for the website of the company in a timely manner, and of a
quality that is likely to be praised not only by the top management of the company, but the
clients and the customers of the company’s products and services (Frederickson and Rohr,
2015). I make sure that the team of writers and editors who work under me in the web content
development department are people who are committed to ensuring excellence in the work
that they do, and who work tirelessly during office hours to come up with ideas, suggestions
and pointers that help in marketing the products and services of the company in the best
possible way (Grace 2017). I am responsible for selecting people of merit to work for the
department, and I am always on the lookout for individuals who possess good writing and
editing skills in English and who also have the college and university degrees that are needed
to be a success at their jobs (Collett et al. 2018).
Honesty is an ethical behavior that I maintain always at the workplace. I am honest
with my co workers and subordinates with what it is that I expect from them and I am equally
honest with my superiors regarding what it is that I can or cannot do for the company. It is
my honesty that has led my superiors at the company where I work to trust me so much and
to give me full responsibility for the work I am doing. It is their belief in my abilities, their
satisfaction with the work that I have done for them until late and the fact that they know that
I am always going to be honest with them, that has encouraged them to appoint me to the

position of a quality control supervisor, a post that I have been holding for the last one year,
out of my three years of service with this company (Delghani et al. 2015).

Competency Deficiency Statement
Creativity and Innovation When it comes to creativity and innovation, I
have some great ideas of my own regarding how
to market content for the company and I
encourage those working under me to think
widely and come up with interesting ideas as
well. I believe that innovation goes a long way in
enhancing the appeal of a company’s products,
but I do believe that I need to catch up with the
latest trends pertaining to innovation, to make
suggestions and improvements to web content
development in this respect.
Leadership I believe and I know that I can inspire those who
are working under me to come up with quality
content that can be used on the company website
as well as on social media platforms. However,
there are times when I tend to act as too much of
a perfectionist and am quick to dismiss content
which I do not consider to be of a superior
standard. I need to be more accepting of the work

standards of my subordinates and need to be
more encouraging in my approach to them rather
than being dismissive if I am not happy with their
work.
Attitude I have a positive attitude to the work that I do and
I try to inculcate such an attitude in those who are
working under my supervision as well as side by
side with me. I tend to react very harshly to
criticism though and do not take it too well when
it is directed towards me. I need to be far more
accepting and tolerant in my attitude to criticism
and I need to understand criticism can at times,
be quite constructive.
Self Direction I have the motivation that is needed to take
myself places, because I strongly believe in
myself and my abilities. I am also greatly
inspired by the top leadership of our company
and feel motivated to do my best for them. This
inversely implies that require my supervisors to
lead me always which is not the right thing. I
need to cultivate my own path, and take the
direction that I need to or wish to take in order to
further myself professionally, at the place where I
work and in my life in general.

Commitment Where commitment is concerned, it is important
to remember that although I am fully dedicated to
achieving the goals and the requirements of the
organization where I am recruited, there are times
when I fail to meet their needs. Not all clients can
be satisfied fully and there are some who have
given bad reviews for the work that I have done
for them in the past. I am and will continue to
remain fully committed to the work that I do for
the company and shall strive tirelessly to come up
with quality content that can market the products
and services of the company as best as possible.
6. Personal SWOT Analysis and Areas for Improvement
Strengths – commitment and dedication to the organization is by far my biggest strength, in
addition to my ability to be professionally competent n the work that I do.
Weaknesses- I tend to look to the top level management of the company where I work for
direction rather than always being motivated and self focused on my own. I need to be told
what to do rather than coming up plans, actions and strategies of my own. I am also very
critical of the work I do and the work others do for me.
Opportunities – Using my skills and abilities as a writer and editor I can develop high quality
professional web content for the organization, helping it to achieve its goals and aspirations
by having a large and competent team working under me for this purpose than the handful I
have now.

Threats – There are many individuals in the market for content developed who are well
qualified and who have what it takes to be good quality control executives. Such individuals
pose a threat to my job security, compelling me to be an absolute pro at what I do in order to
stay ahead in the game.
From the above personal SWOT analysis, it is clear that Self Direction and Attitude are
two of the areas that need immediate improvement as far as competencies are concerned. It is
worth noting that while I am a fairly capable and committed worker and am fully dedicated to
the cause and the aspirations of the company, I tend to at times be exceedingly critical of the
work that I do and the work that is carried out under my supervision. I need to be far more
realistic and pragmatic in my attitude to my work at the company, and I need to be accepting
of the flaws and the limitations of the people who are working under my leadership. I
personally believe that my accepting the limitations of my subordinates I will arrive at a
better understanding of what it is that they can or cannot do for the company, and will be able
to get them to deliver work accordingly. I also need to learn to look to myself for leadership
and guidance instead of relying on the top level management of the company only to provide
me with the right direction to take in terms of work and professional development.
My commitment to the organization does not have to be improved upon but I can bring
about a considerable amount of improvement to my leadership style. I can be more
transformational where my leadership style is concerned and I should I believe encourage
those who are working under me to come forth with their ideas and suggestions on many
different matters. By encouraging my subordinates to express their views freely about the
work they do and how content should be shaped and developed for the company website, I
feel that they will feel motivated to do their job better and will find the zeal that is needed to
do their jobs with most gusto and dedication than they are now. I feel that my encouraging
my subordinates to express their views and suggestions, I too can learn a lot from them as

their supervisor and accordingly establish work standards in the organization that aims at the
production of quality web content that can market the products and services of the company
in the most effective way. The more encouraging I am with my subordinates, the better will
be the work that is done by them for the company and for me.
Finally, I need to be far more well versed with the market and its requirements before
I design and develop content for the company website. The company has to market its
products and services in keeping with current market trends, so that the target audience is
reached out to quickly and in the desired way. I need to spend more time doing market
research before I can proceed to be creative and innovative in the content I produce for the
company, and before I can encourage those who are working under my guidance to be
creative and innovative in their production of content.
