INTRODUCTION
Personal development is a procedure by which individual can improve their existing
knowledge, skill, ability and performance. It considers overall development of the individual.
When individual engage impersonal development program then several abilities improves
such as communication, leadership, negotiation, time management skill etc. The current
report provides the detail knowledge and understanding about the personal development
planning and its significance within an organisation. Four core skill and its importance within
individual personality has been also discussed in this report.

What is the core skill?
Time management is the core skill that helps an individual in managing large numbers of
task and activities within specific time period. An effective time management skill can
boost up productivity and personality of any individual (Zepeda, 2012). With help of this
skill, individual can easily manage multiple task and assignment in a small period. An
effective time management skill includes several essential such as goal setting,
prioritisation, self-awareness, self-motivation, focused, decision making, planning and
communication skill.
Why is this core skill important? Why did I select this skill to reflect on? (use

Time management skill is core ability in enhancing person personality by which they can
easily manage large number of task and assignment in specific time period (Calderhead,
2012). I have selected time management skill as a core ability because with help of this
power I can easily improve my personality and enhance the quality of performance at
workplace. Being employees in an organisation, time management skill is very important
ability that helps me in managing large numbers of task and assignment in a specific time
period.

Being employee I have analysed as well as assessed my personality and performance. I
have found that I have weak time management skill. Due to poor time management skill I
am unable to manage many tasks and assignment in a specific period. I am inappropriate
in accomplishing my task and assignment within given period. For analysing the
competency regarding time management, I have taken feedback from my senior member
and subordinates member in the organisation. On the basis of their feedback and reviews, I
have analysed my core competency regarding time management skill. In addition to this,

for assessing and sustaining my competency regarding the toolkit Johri window. It helps
me in evaluating my knowledge an ability regarding the subject.

I have assessed that my time management skill is too weak as compare to other team
member in an organisation. While I saw to my colleagues and team member to work at
workplace then I found that they accomplish their task within minimum time period. One
day, my team leader has given me task to prepare a systematic presentation. For designing
presentation, we all collectively share responsibility for presentation. I have found that
every member accomplished their task within specified time period and I am unable to
accomplish my task within time period. Thus, I have analysed that my time management
skill is too weak as compare to other team member's in the company.

Time management skill is very significant ability and skill for becoming successful
employees within the organisation. With help of this skill I can easily take effective
decision regarding task. Being an employee within organisation, with help of this skill I
can easily improve my ability and performance. All task can accomplish with help of this
skill and ability. This skill will help me in future in order to perform in excellent manner
and accomplish all task in specific time period.
What is the core skill?
Team working is another important ability through which he/she can collectively carry out
task and accomplish objective of task (Buxton, Burns and De Muth, 2012). With help of
team working skill, individual can easily accomplish task with help of other people. It is a
procedure under which two or more than two member collectivity share their objective
and information for achieve target. In an organisation, team working skill among
employees can help to accomplish huge task and resolve major conflict and problem
regarding business.

In the present time, team working skill is a component that is required in every job and
especially in big organisation looking for people who have this ability (St‐Jean, 2012). It
helps to company in improving quality, productivity, encourage innovation and
commitment. A real team is seriously committed to their purpose, goal and approach. In
the company, top management develops team along with several team members for
accomplish some task and achieve specific goal. Productivity and profitability of business
can improve while employees work together. They can easily resolve complex issues and
problems relatedto business. For develop a systematic team, Belbin team role approach

can be used under which every member have specific role and responsibility for achieve
specific goal.

As per the Johari Window tool, I am perfectionist, sociable and trustworthy person. I have
analysed that I have effective characteristic of team working that helps me coordinating
with other people at workplace. Being an employee, I support other team member and
collectively accomplish objective. With help of the above tool I have able to understand
my existing knowledge and skill regarding team working. With help of this skill I can
easily achieve target of team (Hopkinson, 2014). As I have analysed and assessed that I
am able to interact with other people and make coordination with them for accomplish
objective. I have assessed that I have great knowledge regarding the Belbin team role
theory. As per this concept, a self-perception inventory and in this role is specialist and
shaper that helps to individual in improve objective team. One day in the organisation, my
team leader has assigned us a task to design a structure of the business along with several
activities. In this situation I took the implementer role because no other member has idea
regarding this task. I implemented my knowledge and idea regarding task
accomplishment. Thus, I can say that on the basis of self-assessment finding, I have found
that I have an effective skill of team working that helps me in the organisation for carry
out work with other and accomplish task in effective and efficient manner.

The Blake and Mouton Managerial Grid, helps me in analysing my skill and ability and I
can observe my effectiveness as compare to other one.With help of this tool I have
determined that I authoritarian leader and a person who can effectively coordinate and
cooperate with other team member for achieving some definite goal and objective at
workplace. I have ability to work with other and maintain healthy relationship by use
collaborative working. For example, one-day team leader assigned us a task to construct
structure of business so for accomplished its objective I have put great efforts. I have
played roles and responsibilities for obtain effective outcome. I have analysed that I have
great team working skill because I communicated with other team member and developed
effective coordination with them. Every team member and my team leader have
appreciated my success regarding accomplish team task. Thus, I can say that as compare
to other members in the organisation I have effective team working skill and competency.

Team working skill will assist me in future in organisation. While I will become a
manager in the organisation then I have to develop team for accomplish specific objective
of organisation (Grohmann and Kauffeld, 2013). With help of this skill I can effectively

work with other people and make effective coordination with them so as I can produce
excellent outcome. This competency will help me in several task like conflict resolution,
effective communication, coordination with other, persuasion etc.

Negotiation skill is another one of core competency within individual through which
parties can solve the differences and conflicts that exist between them (Gibbs, 2012). In
addition to this, it is a structured communication procedure through which two or more
than two people who have issue with each other. With help of this skill, individual can
find out solution of the solution.

Negotiation skill helps to individual in getting solution regarding specific issue and
problem among two and more than two parties. Being an employee in the organisation I
have analysed and assessed that I have effective negotiation skill through which I am able
to resolve conflicts with other and make effective agreement with other people at
workplace. Being employee in the organisation I have several responsibilities towards
business Several kinds of issues and conflicts that is managed by me in day to day
activity. Thus, with help of this skill I can easily make agreement with other and
accomplish relevant task by resolve issue.

On the basis of analysis of my personality I have found that I have effective negotiation
skill. This is my effective competency that help me in developing agreement with other
people. One day I have conflict with my team member regarding some task and
responsibility that have assigned by team leader. With help of this skill I have effectively
find out solution of this conflict. During this situation, other team member has appreciated
me for this task, as I have effectively found solution of conflict. Thus, I can say that on
the basis of other member feedbacks, I have analysed that I have effective negotiation
skill.

My team member in the organisation told me that I have effective negotiation skill as
compare to other employee at workplace. In addition to this, I have also observed that as
compare to other member, I can easily resolve issues at workplace and produce effective
solution (Joseph and Kuby, 2015). I have analysed that I have ability to communicate

with people and with help of this skill I can easily get solution of problem with other
person. Other people appreciates my skill of team working and team building in the
organisation.

The negotiation skill will help me in my career through which I can become a good leader
in the organisation (Hetzner, Heid and Gruber, 2012). This skill helps me in encouraging
my team member, co-workers and colleagues to express their opinion and resolve
conflicts regarding work at workplace. With help of this skill I can easily minimise
conflicts and issues with other member and find out appropriate solution related to work.
I have effective communication skill that directly linked to the ability to negotiate with
other. In order to become a good leader negotiation skill is very significant in my
personality that helps me in resolving conflicts.

Decision making skill is another core skill that needed to person for become effective
personality. With help of this skill, individual can take effective decision regarding work
and accomplish activity in effective manner (Pedler, Burgoyne and Boydell, 2013).
Decision making is a key skill in the organisation and is particularly important if person
want to be an effective leader.

Decision making skill is important by which appropriate decision can be taken by
analysing situation and consider several alternatives (Kinnie and Swart, 2012). My
decision making skill is too weak as I am weak to analyse the situation and find out
solution regarding subject.

One day in the organisation, my team leader provides options for organise training and
development program and seminar for employees. I have been assigned with task to design
a systematic planning for this task, but due to weak decision making skill I was unable to
take appropriate decision and unable to design systematic plan for training and
development. On the basis of self-assessment finding I have analysed that I have very
weak decision making skill in my personality that needed to be improved as soon as
possible.

My co-workers and colleagues have told me that my decision making power is too weak
as compare to other member. While my team leader gave me task for prepare planning
regarding training program then other colleagues have systematically performed their
responsibilities and roles (Shek and et. al., 2013). But I am unable to take decision
regarding systematic planning.

With help of decision making skill I will able to take appropriate decision regarding
business in the future. This skill will help me in becoming successful manager in the
organisation who takes every business decision in excellent manner.

Analysis and Action plan
From self-assessment I have analysed that I have several effective skills and ability that
helps me in performing well at workplace. I have effective communication, negotiation, time
management skill that supports me in accomplishing target ineffective manner. On the basis
of collected feedbacks from every member and self-assessment, as per my assessment I have
found that my decision making skill is too weak due to this I am unable to take appropriate
decision. In addition to this My technical skill is also very weak through which I am unable to
use computer and other equipment at workplace. I need to improve decision making skill and
technical ability. I have objective to become successful team leader and manager in the
reputed organisation, so for this objective, I need to improve my leadership skill. I have
realised that my strength is my effective communication skill through which I can easily
influence other people and interact with them in excellent manner. In addition to this, I have
also analysed that with help of time management skill I am easily handle multitasking work
at workplace. I can manage and handle large numbers of projects at workplace. In order to
improve my weaknesses related to poor technical skill, decision making ability, leadership
