INTRODUCTION
Reflection practice refers to ability of a person to reflect on action which helps to increase
continuous learning (Bailey and Sowden, 2021). It also includes focusing on action of a person
to give attention to value of and theory that examine these actions reflectively. It also includes
personal and professional development of a person throughout entire situation. It includes
complete work by taking action and their inspection. This project report includes reflection of
experience as a care worker in home service. It also includes Gibbs reflection model to describe
situation and learning.
MAIN BODY
Reflection practices refers to way in which a person look at their personal as well as professional
development. It also includes inspection of what an individual does at that situation, how they do
and also include details of incident and their practices (Dean, 2016). Professional practices refer
to those which are dynamic as well as interactive that can be occur in specific and changing
context. Reflection of real incident can be doe with use of reflective model as these models
provide a structure to an individual to reflect on specific situation. This model assists in
providing information in depth and allow to reflect on critical reflectors. These reflection model
include Kolb’s learning cycle, Gibbs reflective cycle and many other models.
These reflective practices provide many benefits to an individual as it increases their self-
awareness. Self-awareness provide emotional components and understanding with others. It also
develops creativity in a person as well as enhance their critical thinking (Finch, 2016). It also
increases engagement of people in process of work and encourage them in their engagement. It
provides professional growth to a person as it includes depth thought process in a person.
Reflective practices enhance innovation as it encourages creative thinking in an individual which
provide them overall growth. It not only helps in teaching but also in earning and also build
strong relation between teacher and student. These practices allow student to more focused with
learning experience which increase their interest in module. It enhances problem solving skills of
a person as it learning helps to solve problem with a person and overcome challenges occur in
path of effective learning.
These reflective practices also help student to develop various skills in them and also improv
their practices. It increases their engagement in classroom and also develop critical thinking in

students. It also enhances motivation in a person and improve overall effectiveness in a person.
Reflective practices are important for a student in enhancement of their growth and development
process as it improve critical thinking of a person and also allow them to develop various skills.
These skills are important doe their personal as well as professional development. It also
provides opportunity to a person in future period of time. While using reflective practices. One
should be motivated as well as clear headed as it helps them in writing their refection effectively.
Gibbs Model of Reflection
Gibbs model is one of reflective model which is introduced by Graham Gibbs in 1988. This
model provides a structure to explain experience of earning and also examine experience of
individual (Dickson-Swift, 2019). This model includes a cycle structure which include planning
and learning from experience that has occur in past. In its cycle, first step include description of
what has happened. It also includes emotion response of a person related to their experience. It
undertakes explanation of good and bad things related to activity. Reflective cycle of this model
includes what make thing bad and what make it good. Analysis of this situation allow individual
to conclude that how will they face same situation in future period of time. It also includes what
extra efforts make situation different in future. This model includes different stages include
description, feeling, evaluation, feeling, conclusion, action plan. In this situation, I have joined a
work as a care working in providing home services. There are a old lady live with her family but
all members have to go to work, so they need a person to take care to their house as well as old
lady.
Description
For this job, I have to do various work including as taking care of old lady, provide her
medication on time, providing professional support to her and helps her to live safely (Haugh and
Silvey, 2017). This work also includes responsibility of dressing and bathing and also managing
various task in house. This can be happened in las summers in vacation time. I was free that
time, so I decided to do a job to earn money and utilise time. There was various responsibility on
me while performing this type of job. In starting day, I got confused related to my duties and
responsibilities. As it is difficult for me to remembers all task at same time and there is also a
problem related understanding of medication of old lady. At first, I got confuse and miss her
medicine as there is problem for me to remember medication process. I also do not able to
complete other housing services on time. Therefore, one of their family members remind me

about medicine and also make me understand all work responsibilities. Al these mistakes has
happened as I was nervous and got confused with lot of work. I did not expect this situation
while joining this job as I want to completely my work responsibility and effectively.
Feeling
Before joining this job, I was feeling nervous as I do not know which type of people were there
and how will I deal with them. I was also feeling happy at that time, as I know this provide me
opportunity to learn some thing new and also allow me to earn something. But at time, when I
was doing this job, I got nervous and confused as I do not understand my responsibility and also,
I have confusion related to education. I also was not able to complete work on time. All these
things make me confuse and unorganised. This also result in creating pressure on me to work as I
was not managing time properly. But some of their family members provide support to me and
suggest me to write all task in a diary so that I can remembers all things to do on that day. They
also suggest to write medication in a diary as it helps me to understand their medication. So, I
agreed with them and started writing things in a diary. After adopting their suggestion, my work
got easy. As this situation helps me to manage my time and completion of every task on time.
This situation also allowed me to manage things in a better way. I think that I can handle
situation in effective way by maintaining diary as it makes me remembers ever task (Jones and
Sin, 2016).
Evaluation
It was overall good experience as it helps me learn importance of time management and
maintaining diary. Maintaining diary helps a person to remembers things and they does not get
confuse with task given to them. It also makes their life more organised and create less pressure
of work on them. As after maintaining diary, it helps me to complete all task on time
(Wrigglesworth, 2016). Bad thing about this situation is that I got confuse related to medication
process and also fails to complete task on time but one of their family members suggestion helps
me to complete work effectively. In this situation, I have provided medication to old lady on
time. Helps her to take bath and provide her professional support. This make her happy as I help
her to see things in a positive way. Initial part of job does not well as I do to understand my
responsibilities and to able to manage completion of work on time. I take things light in initial
time of job and is not able to manage things effectively as there is more pressure on me. But with
contribution of family members of old lady I was able to do my job effectively. I provided

support to her which helps her to see things in positive way. This will also help her to take
medicine and follow precautions of doctors.
Analysis
Things go well in my job as I have understood importance of maintaining diary and to writer as it
helps me to remembers all task and also completion of all task. I also manage time effectively
that helps to save time and reduce work pressure on me (Middleton and Llewellyn, 2016). All
these habits make me to learn patience as it requires patience to deal with people of old age and
to taking care of them. Thigs does not go well as it does not know how to manage time
effectively and I also take things lightly which also create problem for me to manage my work. I
also was not able to handle situation effectively. Managing time and talking to ld lady also helps
me to completion of work effectively. This can be done as family members of lady provide
support and motivate to complete work effectively. I also writer each and every task from
breakfast of old lady to sleeping time of her. This allow to make schedule of every task and
complete that task within time period. I also make good professional relation with old lady as
she is so such a heart-warming person. I help her to look at things differently and creative
positive attitude in her for her recovery. My capability to manage time helps me to handle
situation effectively and also provide a positive attitude to look at situation.
Conclusion
I have learned from this situation that we don’t need to afraid from situation and should not be
nervous. Things can be handled effectively with patience. It is important to learn patience and tie
management as it makes a person disciplined and make their work life more organised. This
situation could be more positive if I maintain diary in initial time and talk to their family person
about my confusion. Communication helps to reduce confusion and make work easy (Mirlashari,
Warnock and Jahanbani, 2017). This situation can be more productive for me if I communicate
with them. I develop various skills which helps me in future to handle same type of problem.
These skills include communication as it helps to reduce confusion and make work efficient. I
also learned time management. This is most important resource for any person. Utilisation of
time effectively helps to reduce work pressure on a person. I also talk to old lady which share her
experience of life with me. It motivates me to achieve something in my life and also, I take care
of her which provide improvement in their health. This will make me happy as I have completed
my responsibility effectively.

Action planning
If same situation occurs with me in future course of time, I will handle things differently. I will
again maintain a diary which helps me to remember things and also communicate with employer
about confusion. I will raise question which helps me understand my work responsibility
effectively. I am working on me which helps to develop some additional skills which helps am to
act differently. Also, I have this experience which provide me vagarious learning. These learned
ensure effectiveness of my working (Nicol and Dosser, 2016). I will develop skills my enhancing
my learning and knowledge. I will also take various responsibility of work on me as these
initiatives helps me develop required skills in me. I will act different in future period of time as I
have developed some habits and skills in me which helps to handle various situation like this.
These skills and habits allow me to act differently in future situation. It also allows me to work
effectively with full potential.
