Personal and professional development is referred as a concept that helps in managing
own learning growth throughout their career. It is important and essential that individual should
continue to learn and develop to keep their skills and knowledge up to date and ensure that
individual should continue to work safely, legally and effectively (Lin and Magnuson, 2018).
Personal and professional development is also refereed as continuous professional development
(CPD). This report is based on academic skills and PDP (Choy and Chua, 2019). This report
includes definition of concept of personal and professional development, description and
discussion of value of medium term goals and long term goals, description and discussion of how

Definition of concept of personal and professional development.
Personal development is basically consists of activities of activities that develop a
individual's capabilities and potentials, building human capital, facilitate employability and
enhancing quality of life and realization of dreams and aspirations. Personal development
sometime may take place over course of an individual's entire lifespan. Aim and motive of
personal and professional development is to provide helps individual to manage their own
learning and growth throughout their career (Misra, 2018). It is essential and necessary for any
individual to learn and develop their skills and knowledge up to date and ensure that individual
should continue to work safely, effectively and legally. Professional as well as personal
development is important as it helps in expanding and growing their skills and talents beyond
their current role as for preparing themselves for having more which makes them more and high
valuable to employers. Some of ways that helps in managing individual’s personal and
professional development are as follows:
Setting a clear objective about what is required to achieved: As once an individual has
defined and have a clear goal it will become easy to manage their personal and professional
development (Kalinowski, Gronostaj and Vock, 2019.
