INTRODUCTION
Professional development may be referred as the process of identifying objectives or goals and
acquiring new skills in order to grow and succeed at work (Albanese and Paturas, 2018). In
simple words, it is a better version of individual in his current job. Learning new skills leads to
many opportunities that an individual can grab to promote growth. It keeps individual up to date
about various trends along with learning new skills. So it is important to improve current skills
which leads to better career option. The core purpose of professional development and placement
is to give individual that opportunity to learn and use new skills that they can use in their current
job and career. This project report is based on career path that I have chosen is manager of bank.
It will cover a brief introduction of chosen career and importance of training and qualification
framework. Further it will cover skills and attributes that are needed to become successful
manager. At last it will include skills that I have and how they do match in my chosen career
requirements.
TASK
Professional development plays an important role in defining success of any individual. By
acquiring new skills, it helps in promoting growth in current career. It is required to formulate an
effective plan which will help in getting new career opportunities by learning new skills and
attributes. It has numerous benefits for both young and experienced professionals (Konar, 2021).
Career path introduction
I want to become a manger in my future and have a desire to control back floor. I am having
keen interest in this field and good command over accountancy. I always have interest in banking
services and curious to know about its functioning and operations. I want to make my career in
this field because of interest. I am very passionate about my career and want to follow my dream
to become a manager. I have taken advice with my teachers too and they have advised me in
polite manner. They have told me about each and every aspect that I have to considered while
becom8ing manager. Earlier, I’m not aware about the roles and responsibilities of manager but y
teachers helped me in getting details. It requires various skills but I have some of them which
makes me fit. Bank manager undertakes many responsibilities of branch operations and is liable
for any fault of him or of his subordinates. He is responsible for managing tellers, product

experts and other back executives in order to render better customer service to customers. He
ensures that all the functions that are carried in bank are according to pre-determined plans or
not. In addition to that, he is also responsible for organising operation function of credit unions
and banks. I have chosen bank manager as my career because there are various opportunities that
I can grab on while opting this my career. I have some skills and attributes that meets
requirements of a good manager. In my academics, I was provided with a task related to banking
service and I was leader of my team. Because of my communication skills, I have ability to
effectively manage my team mates and can convey right message without any barrier. Along
with responsibilities of a branch manager. They can work in various financial institutions such as
in Investment bank, brokerages and commercial banks. Along with that, they can work in any
insurance and consultancy company. As when I become a bank manager I will apply all my
skills to work for customer in order to provide better service experience. I will take help from
various people who are working in bank and seek details on internet. I will read journals and
articles of successful managers and their traits which makes them successful in their work. It is
an interesting and passionating career that I have chosen and will try my best to become branch
manager.
Training and qualification framework
Banking can be rewarding for me as I am interested in finance, management and numbers. I
have strong customer service skills and in depth knowledge of banking functions and
operations. I am also good at formulation of financial strategy which makes me fit for this
role. Following are basic steps in becoming manger.
Get a basic education – To become a manager, it is needed to have at least basic bachelor’s
degree in finance or management. It is must to have bachelor’s degree when an individual
want to become branch manager.
Gain experience in banking – There are various institution which provides on the job
trainings sessions and vestibule trainings before placing individual to actual floor. This
makes them aware about their roles and responsibilities that they have to perform in bank. I
have taken online classes from a well-known management institutes to get aware about the
roles and responsibilities. They have provided me every details regarding banking
operations.

Get a master degree – When I will complete above step, I will take admission in a reputed
college and complete master’s in finance or management field. I will get relevant skills that
makes me a good manager. The degree that I will get after completion will reflect my hard
work and efforts that I have put.
I have some attribute that will make me a good manger as I am good at communication
skills which will help me in effective communicating in bank and with customers. This will
enhance customer service experience. I can effectively manage my staff and keeps them
motivate so that they can work with their peak potential. Effective communication leads in
establishing better relationship with staff and customer.
Qualification needed for career
Higher secondary education –For individual who wants to pursue bank manager role
in his career have to opt commerce stream where he can get basic accounting
knowledge, economics and finance. Along with that, he can opt maths where he can
be aware about time and work, interpretation of data, probability which he can use in
his career.
Graduation – While pursuing bachelor’s degree, one can study about subjects like
accountancy, financial management, taxation and cost accounting. It will help him in
getting knowledge about various fields of branch banking.
Post-graduation –It is need to opt a better management course like MBA from any
reputed educational institute. This will help in getting a post graduate degree which
acts as a gate pass to become manager. The degree will reflect skills, hard work and
knowledge which is required to become manager.
To become a manger there is need to have a professional degree in finance and
management. Every bank seeks for skilled and knowledgeable candidate which
makes him fit for the position of bank manager. As per the bank norms, it is needed
to have skills set such as communication and leadership skills. The post of bank
manager, it requires various skills and expertise in finance and management field,
thus, needs a degree and post qualified person having all skills and management
degree.

Skills and attributes for career
As I want to become manger in my future and this position carries various responsibilities
to be performed in an effective way. It is needed to have relevant skills that makes me fit
for this job role. It requires both technical and social skill which helps in carrying out
banking operations successfully (Alias and et.al.,2019). This job position will that I have
chosen foe my career will involve decision making, effective soft skills in order to inspire
team and a problem solve who can solve issue of banking operations. Following are the
skills that are required to become a bank manager.
Leadership skills – A bank manager is a person who directs its employees towards
attainment of objectives set by management. He inspires and motivates them so that
they can work with peak potential (Varenina et.al., 2021). This skill is must as I want
to become branch manager of a reputed bank. With this skills, I can manage my team
and motivate employees in order to meet their sales goals, communication
expectations and oversee day to day operations.
Communication skills – This skill plays an important role in every industry. The core
purpose of this skill in service based industry is to provide better customer
satisfaction. This skill will help me in communicating with higher management,
customer and employees. Some of the information is confidential and it becomes
critical to share with others as they may misunderstand and that may effect on
organisation’s performance. So it is needed to have effective communication skill
which minimise risk of misunderstanding. It is important to have both verbal and
written communication skill in order to convey or pass information clearly.
Customer service – It is important to understand client’s needs as a branch manager
and to provide better service. It helps in retaining existing customers and attracts
potential customers to opt better bank who provides best service to their clients. This
skill enhances customer service by understanding needs and providing remedy to
make them satisfied (Majid and et.al., 2019).
Problem solving skill – Sometimes due to misunderstandings among employees,
conflict may arise and it is the responsibility of branch manager to resolve issue as
early possible or it will adversely impact on their performance. So it is needed to
have strong problem solving skill in order to address conflicts and concerns along

with able to resolve them (van der Vleuten, van den Eertwegh and Giroldi, 2019). If
the problem is not solved, it may adversely impact on bank’s performance.
Interpersonal skills For a branch manager, it is required to have strong
interpersonal skill in order to communicate with branch rules, evaluation of
employee’s performance, providing trainings sessions to new employees and to set
expectation. In order to perform all above activities, interpersonal skill is must. This
makes the process smoother and easier. It is important to evaluate performance of
employees in order to ensure that their efforts contribute towards achieving sales
target or not, if not, what corrective measures can be taken to improve their
performance (Larsen, 2017).
Organisational skills – It is important for aa branch manner to have this skill as this
will help in maintaining records of sales and customers, schedule of meetings along
with short term and long term goals of branch. It helps at the time of auditing and
becomes easier to provide all essential details to auditor. Maintaining records of
customers also helps in getting insights of customer and their details.
Data analytics – Data collection is useless if branch manager is not having data
analytics skill. It will help in evaluating performance of branch so that corrective
measures or alteration can be done in management strategy. This skill requires
mathematical abilities and critical thinking as branch managers can use this data in
formulation of business strategy (Lee and Mao, 2020).
Way to develop skills and attributes while completing degree
It becomes difficult to manage my studies along with learning new skills. But I am
very passionate about my career so anyhow I will manage bot things at same time.
When I will pursue my degree I will get knowledge about skills and how they can be
applied to my profession. Following are some skills that I will develop along with
my studies.
Problem solving skills – This skill I can developed by reading business case studies
and deeply analysing it cause, and finding the best alternative to opt solution. This
will help me in getting knowledge and I can effectively solve issues and concerns of
my team mates. I can solve problem of my peers too whenever they find difficulty

Interpersonal skills – On this skill, I can focus while studying as I will set a goal for
me having a deadline. Upon successful completion of goal, I will evaluate my
performance and seeks gaps which are needed to fill. I will set expectation b for me
and my measuring effectiveness of work, I can successfully acquire interpersonal
skill.
Organisational skills – I will acquire this skill by maintaining a workbook in which I
will record my performance and task that I have completed. With this I can
effectively set optimum deadline to accomplish new task. I will track record of each
milestone of my academics. It will also help me in meeting my short term and long
term goals related to my academics.
Data analytics – This skill I will acquire through internet by collecting data from
various sources of already conducted research. I will interpret that data and upon
successful interpretation, I will compare results with previous conducted research, if
data matches with prior outcomes, it means I have successfully acquired this skill.
This will help in formulation of effective strategies that will lead to my career.
Communication skill- This skill I can focus on by listening to different opinions of
my colleagues. By listening them carefully I can able to respond them clearly and
minimise risk of misunderstanding. I will also focus on verbal and written
communication so that I can pass or convey message in right tone with clarity. I will
take participate in debates while remaining in my academics which will boost my
confidence among many people and effectively share my thoughts and opinions
which help in enhancing communication skill.
Employers in chosen career
Financial Institutions –It may be referred as the company which is engaged in
business of dealing and managing financial and monetary transactions such as
accepting deposits, providing loans and facilitates investment. This typs of
organisation encompasses with various range of business operations within financial
sectors.

Banks -They are similar to financial institutions and they are either controlled and
managed by government or privately. The core purpose of banks is to develop rural
areas along with providing safe and secure banking and deposit services. Public
banks have low interest rate of loans which makes it easier for poor people and for
business to commence new business setup or expand ongoing business. They accept
deposits of people at low interest and grants to needy people at high.
Insurance companies- It may be defined as a single business entity which writes
business policies, pays claims and takes all risks associated with policy. These
entities are strongly regulated and controlled by government in order to ensure that
they have sufficient resources to cover risk.
Recruitment and selection of staff
All the above entities follow same recruitment and selection structure for hiring
potential candidates to fill vacant job position. They first identify the need of
employee and advertise to invite for job position. Company receives applications
from various candidates and eliminates those who are not fit for job. Then, they do
screening test or call interview in order to know about level of interest in job. After
clearing call interview, he sent to face to face interview for detailed information
about job experience. After clearing that, company conduct background verification
to ensure that he do not have any criminal record. After that, company offers with
offer letter and when he signs and agree to all terms and condition, hired to fill
vacant job position.
Training to new staff
It is important to provide new employees with effective training sessions so that they
can be aware about roles and responsibilities along with can increase skill which they
can use in their profession. Training must be provided to both new and existing staff
in order to sharp skills. Skill plays an important role in making batter career in
profession. It opens door of opportunities that can promote growth to an individual.
It helps in boosting employees performance and they can work with peak potential.
It also facilitates in reducing employee turnover along with retaining existing
employees and attracts young talent. The training that is opted by banks to promote

growth of employees is on the job training. In this type of training, employees are
placed on the actual floor so that they can be aware about roles and responsibilities
and usage of skills. In case of financial institutions, training is provided in coaching
manner as a person is appointed to guide and instruct each employee. Insurance
companies provides with vestibule training sessions under which they are provided
with all resources and asked to work according to knowledge and skill. This will
enhance self-confidence and critical thinking skill to perform task.
CONCLUSION
From the above project report it was concluded that skills play an important role in
defining success for any individual and it is needed to improve skills so that individual
can get better career opportunity. As I want to become branch manager in my future and I
have formulated blueprint which will help me in making my better career. I have relevant
attributes which would help me in becoming a good manager. There are numerous
opportunities in Banking field and I am prepared to carry out roles and responsibilities
that a bank manager has on his shoulders. I will acquire all essential qualifications and
professional accreditation from a reputed educational institute. Training helps in
improving existing skills and to learn new skills which would help me in my future
profession. Skills can be used in both professional and academic life.
