INTRODUCTION
Professional development is the process of learning the professional credentials such as academic
degrees to formal coursework, informal learning opportunities and attending conferences situated
in practice. This report highlights the source of Professional Development and trend which
influence need of professional development. Further these report explains importance of Personal
and professional development and the bases on which development plan should be made. Further
this report explains the PDP and skill gap analysis and In the end report explains the SMART
objective and source of the Feedback and the amended PDP.
TASK 1
1.1 Explain Source of information for Professional Development
There are many places in the Travelodge to find the information regarding Professional
development trend. Some source is as follows:
Employee: As a HR manager there are many people whom I am in touch with every employee in
the organisation and they used to discuss the problem or issue which is faced by them which has
helped me in getting information regarding the professional development (Glazer, Mahoney and
Randall, 2019).
Complaint hearing office: It is the main source of the information in the Hospitality firm as
there are many customers with different culture and background and has a variety of the
complaint, As a HR manager it helps in having an information about customer, employee and
work and which plays a crucial role in professional development.
Internet: As a HR manager I am always on to the internet which has helped me in developing and
gathering the information regarding the professional development as Internet has a lot of
information which can help in developing my skill regarding my role and qualification (Patton,
Parker and Tannehill, 2015).
1.2 Trend and development which influence need of the Professional development
Technology or Technique change: It is the big factor that create a need of the professional
development in the organisation as whenever new technology or technique is adapted by the
organisation than there is requirement of the training for developing a good professional skill to
defend the technology change.
Competition: It is the another big factor which force the company to have a professional
development as to get a competitive advantage company always try to bring something new into

the organisation and which requires a very good professional skills. For example. For getting a
competitive advantage Travelodge management is figuring out the new advertisement strategy.
Political Policy and Legislation: As hospitality firms contribute very much in the development
of the GDP, government always try to make a policy regarding that and the company require
adapting the changes which force the company to have a professional development as without it
will be difficult for the organisation to adapt the change (Douglass and et.al., 2015).
1.3 Evaluate own current and future personal and professional plan in context of own, team and
organisation
As a HR manager at a Travelodge professional development is playing good role in the
development of mine, my team and the organisation. I joined the firm as HR assistant and that
time proper training by the management has helped me do my job effectively as training taught
me in differentiating my personal and professional which help me in developing good
professional skill, which has helped me in getting promotion as a HR manager. Professional
development has also helped my team as professional development always start with the
development of the knowledge and which helps me and my team in increasing the effectiveness
of my work, hence the effectiveness of mine and my team has eventually helped us in achieving
the goal of the organisation efficiently and effectively.
I always think that I need to go through my qualification once again as it can help me in
increasing my skills and also will help me in increasing my knowledge about the job role as it
will help me in defending future problem. I also need to evaluate my own work to find out the
aspect in which I lack behind so that I can develop my skill according to that which will help me
my team and the organisation (Sanford, and Sokol, 2017).

2.1 Importance of personal and professional developments
Personal and professional development both plays a very crucial role in defending the challenges
and overcoming them in the workplace. Some benefits which are offered by both are as follows:
Personal Development always helped in developing a good relationship with the employee and
colleague which in return makes' employee feel free to discuss their issue with the individual, as

Before taking any development action in the organisation it always requires finding out the
aspect which requires the development plan, it can be assessed by the organisation by looking at
the customer, weakness, strength and competitor. Organisation should look at the current
situation of the work in the organisation and need to find out the skills which are becoming the
hurdles in efficiency of the work and need to plan the development program on the basis of that.
The training program not only need to be for a specific skill it need to be for an overall goal
achievement and all the employee should have a beforehand knowledge about the purpose and
objective of the training which will make employee motivated. Company also need to make sure
that the training program is the mixture of two to three methods to give teaching to the employee.
These methods can be role playing, lecture, self-instruction and Mentoring (Giannoni and et.al.,
2017).

It is very necessary to set the SMART objective as these help the employee in increasing their
efficiency as SMART covers many aspects of the work. SMART stands for Specific,
Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time bound.

Specific: Your target and objective should be clear and should determine what to achieve and
how to achieve so that there are no doubts during the process of achieving the task.
Measurable: The desired target or outcome should be in such a manner that it can be measured,
a reliable system should be set in place that the outcome which has been find can be measured by
the individual.
Achievable: The target which are set by the individual should be in such a limit that the target
can be achieve, If the target is unachievable than it will result in reducing the motivation of the
employee.
Realistic: The target should be realistic and relevant. It should be the objective that you are
willing and able to work (Giannoni and et.al., 2017).
Time bound: Objective which are set by the individual should be set up with the time limits to
achieve the objective which will force them to challenge their skill.
3.2 Explain the source from where Feedback can be gather
There are many sources of feedback in the work place. Some main source are as follows.
Senior Authority: This is the source in which feedback is given by the senior authority as they
used to supervise the working of the subordinate in the organisation, Feedback is given on a
timely basis in the form of the letter. This is the most suitable source of the Feedback as they are
the one who have the knowledge of the working and known pros and corns of everything which
is done by the individual.
Tutor: Tutor at the coaching centre is also a good source for the feedback as they are the one
who have taught you about the knowledge so they are the one can measure the progress or
decline which will be given in the form of the Feedback (Kheir and Wilbur, 2018).
Colleague: Colleague in the team dynamic is also a reliable source of the feedback as they are
the one with whom individual used to work at the regular basis and they are the one who can
observe the change in the working and they can provide feedback about it to the individual.
3.3 Review of personal and professional plan
As I have attended many seminars and conference it has helped me in improving my knowledge
as they have helped in recalling all the studies which I have done at the time of the qualification
and with the proper training also which was included in the seminar I was able to learn the new
skills which was not in my bag previously. Efforts of encouraging others has also affected my

performance in the team dynamic in the positive way as now my colleague and me is able to
discuss all the issue faced by anyone in the process of completing the task but I am founding it
difficult to trust other employee due to some or the other reason which is still affecting my work
in the negative way but I am trying hard to improve my this skill also and it may happens that it
will be improving after some point of time (Almuhammadi, 2017).
