1LEARNING OUTCOME OF THE WORKSHOP
In this workshop. The participants are expected to understand the basic concepts of
cultural and social diversity. During the workshop, the participants will be given relevant
literature and instructions to comprehend the theoretical aspects of cultural and social diversity,
along with other necessary and supporting concepts.
After the completion of the workshop, the participants are expected to define the concepts
of culture and subculture, along with the relation between these two. They are also expected to
be able to express their experience of cultural diversity in the context of organizational
environment, based in a global setting. Further, the participants will be initiated into the study of
different aspects of culture, namely acculturation and adaptation. They will be guided to
understand the concepts and the different strategies of acculturation. After grasping the concept
of acculturation, they will initiated into the study of adaptation in depth. In this regard, they are
expected to learn the basic notions of cultural intelligence or cultural quotient (CQ), emotional
intelligence or emotional quotient (EQ) and social intelligence. Next, they will learn the
fundamental relationship between CQ, EQ and social intelligence. First, they will learn the
difference between EQ and CQ, followed by the difference between CQ and social intelligence.
Further, they are expected to study the process of the development of cultural intelligence. In this
context, the concept of cross-cultural training will be imparted to them, involving the three basic
components of cultural intelligence, namely, cognitive, emotional and physical/behavioural
components.
During the entire process, the participants are expected to take part in the various
activities designed especially for respective topics. The activities are also expected to initiate the
participants into implementing their acquired knowledge of the topics into practical situations.
