1. Professional Ethics
In the recent reports, it was reported that Twitter had sued the U.S Government and thus
alleged that there were certain restrictions, which were imposed on the company. The allegation
reported that the Justice Department had restricted the U.S based firm on limiting the raising of
their voice against the national security requests based on user data. Some of the ethical issues
that can be raised from this issue are that many technology companies are in the process of
reassuring customers about their initial commitments to the factor of privacy of user data. The
government officials had also reported that the National Security Agency and FBI have been
seeking actions for defending the country against threats from real security (Tufts, Jacobson &
Stevens, 2015). The legal rights defined by both of the agencies had focused over the fact that
with the knowledge over the methods and sources, there would be a greater risk about the loss of
capabilities.
Based on the discussed scenario, it could be identified that the most prominent
Professional Code of Ethics that could be applied within the context of the scenario is media
ethics. This can be defined as applied ethics that deal with various standards and principles based
within media and the Internet platform. The law based on this form of ethics would be able to
promote and thus defend values with the help of the laws for legality and law (Voshel & Wesala,
2015). With the use of such a theory of ethics, it would be helpful for Twitter to secure their
rights based on freedom of speech and expression. It would also benefit and support for the
grounds of advertising based on the placement of ideas over any kind of issue.
