Discussion of the dilemma of John:
According to Yoder and Denhardt (2019) maintaining ethics in the workplace is the
matter of utmost importance as it supports the management of an organization to manage the
organization in an effective manner. As per the case study, John is the data base programmer of
an organization and trying his level best in order to frame a large statistical program. It is true
that the organization, in which John is working, encourages the staffs to prepare their own work
efficiently. However, John is facing significant issue in the way of framing the program. He finds
himself stuck in the programing which according to him is out of his expertise. He doesn’t even
know the way of solving the problems. In addition to that, he has also struck in between his
professional ethics and his career goal. This is the dilemma, faced by John in the way of
completing the programing.
Recommendation of what actions John should have taken:
This ethics shows that the staffs of an organization should take own responsibility in
terms of promoting professional development. Thus, it is recommended for John to take the
initiative in order to build his own skills in order to complete the programing properly. At the
same time, it is suggested for John to take proper care in terms of strengthening his competencies
for the sake of completing the programming and keep the stakeholders happy and satisfied.
