1ANALYSIS OF PROFESSIONAL ETHICS AND CYBER SECURITY
1. Security and Crime
The crime involved with the use of Internet and computer devices is known as
cybercrime. This kind of crime could be committed by an individual or a group. This crime
would be committed against private and government organizations. The cybercrime is mostly
intended for harming the reputation of someone or would also cause mental harm.
One of the major examples of cybercrime that had occurred in the year 2018 is based on a
study conducted by the Center for Strategic and International Studies and McAfee, which had
revealed that the costs for cybercrime were being calculated at 0.8% of the global GDP (Top 10
cybercrime stories of 2018, 2019). In the research conducted in April, the research had shown
that the worldwide operations of cybercrime were generating annual revenues at $1.5tn with a
web of profit that had involved much legitimate business. Another study that was conducted in
2017 focused over the incidents that had involved the misuse of computer services and protection
of businesses against malware (Samtani et al., 2017). This report had discussed that these
incidents raised up to 63% and had thus indicated the shift of the focus from the consumers to the
most profitable enterprise sector.
Based on the discussed scenario of cybercrime, it can be concluded that the recent forms
of cybercrime should be taken care of by the government of each country. Hence, the
government should increase their focus on helping the boards of the company for understanding
the cyber risks and thus taking proper actions for reducing them.
