I have learnt developing the therapeutic relationship with the patients, utilizing therapeutic
models based on evidences, documenting psychiatric evaluations, demonstrating professional
accountability through collaboration. These all have helped me to win trust of the patients and
assess old and new patients differently. I have been able to increase my confidence and maintain
total secrecy.

In psychiatric nursing, the nurses often experience frustrations most of which center round the
patients. In the first month most of the nurses come across the problems of violence and anger of
the patients.
I have engaged myself in diagnosing and understanding the individual problems of a patient. I
have tried to identify the core reason of aggression by interacting with the patients as well as

their case history. In most cases, overcrowding has ignited the patient’s aggressive behavior. By
nullifying the stimulating factors, using prescribed sedatives I have helped most clients to
appease.

In the following month, I need to improve my communication skills and building relationship
with both the new and the existing patients. I need to work on gaining proficiency to determine
appropriate patients for admission.
