INTRODUCTION
The skills which are required by an individual, so that they can complete some specific tasks
and job roles in effective manner is known as professional identity. Also, the organisation which has
been chosen for completing this project is IBIS Hotel, as it is an European organisation, which use
to provide their products and services in different parts of the world. As they are considered as of
one the biggest hotel service providing organisation of the world and is owned by AccorHotels, and
also established in 1974. In this project, a study will get take place on different benefits that
stakeholder of an organisation can get after professional development. Also a study will take place
on skills, which are required by an individual for some particular and specific job role in selected
organisation (Cech, E., 2015). Along with this all this, a discussion will made in this report, that
which are skills that an individual can adopt, so that they can make a proper analysis their
performance and also some learning theories will get discussed which that individual can adopt for
improving their performance. Later on in this report, a development plan for that individual will get
designed related to some specific job roles, so that they can make proper improvement. Along with
this various types interview methods will come in study along with their strengths and weaknesses.
TASK 1
P1 Examine the key benefits of on-going professional development for different stakeholders within
a specific organisation.
IBIS Hotel, use to provide their products and services in different parts of world. As they are
said to be one of the biggest hotel products and service providing organisation of the world. Their
head quarter is in Europe and from there only, they use to perform their different activities. In this
section of report, a discussion will take place on benefits which stakeholder can get by making
improvements in their performance and also in skills. Some of the key stakeholder of organisation
are customers, employees, top management, investors and other (Eteläpelto and et. al, 2014). This
all make it very much essential for IBIS Hotel, to make improvements in their activities, so that
they can provide some benefits to their stakeholder, which directly help their profits. Some of these
benefits, which stakeholder can get by on going professional development are given beneath :-
1. Increase Retention : As making improvement in performance will help IBIS Hotel in
increasing the retention level of their stakeholder like, customers, share holders, employees
and other. As improvement in performance lead them in increasing the satisfaction level of
their stakeholder, so that they can get best results and retain with organisation with long time
period.

2. Build confidence and credibility : For each and every individual feeling of to being special
is very much important, as no one is there who loves that their importance get reduced. This
is same as in an organisation, each and every individual working in organisation love to
have feeling of special and never want to lose their importance at work place. Therefore, for
IBIS Hotel, it become very much necessary to make proper development in their skills, so
that they can make their stakeholder feel special (Farquhar, 2018). This will help them in
getting good results, which help them in making confidence of them in stakeholder.
3. Make succession plan easier : For an organisation, it is very much essential for them to
have proper succession plans for them and for their stakeholder. As this will help
organisations like IBIS Hotel, in getting some profits and also help them in giving some
additional benefits to their stakeholder. The main role in this is of professional development
plan, as this help an individual in improving their performance, so that they can give
additional benefits to their organisation as well as to their stakeholder.
4. Reenergise staff : It is very much important for an organisation, to have work force which is
very much charge and also have potential to complete assigned work, so that they can give
their best to organisation. As, IBIS Hotel use to serve their services and products in
hospitality sector, therefore for them it is very much necessary to have a work force which is
very much active and give their best their customers. For doing so, they can make proper
professional development plan, as this will help organisation and employees in getting
information about the areas where they need to make improvement and also help them in
getting knowledge about the opportunities which they have in future.
5. Improved efficiency : Professional development plan has been used by an organisation, so
that they can make improvements in their production level and also help them in improving
their efficiency (Ferguson, 2017). Also, this help their employees in making improvement to
their skills, so that they can give their best to organisation. As this all help IBIS Hotel, in
improving their efficiency, so that they can fulfil the needs and demands of their customers
in appropriate manner.

For an employee, it is very much important to them have proper skills and competencies
which help them in performing their job roles in effective manner. As, there are several number of
job roles which use to perform their tasks in IBIS Hotel. In this section of project, a discussion will

to offer them. Along with this, it is very much important for hotel manager to manage their
employees from different departments, so that they can provide better and effective services of them
to their customers (McCarthy, 2016). Also for hotel manager, it is very much important for them to
have proper skill set so that they can complete their tasks in appropriate manner. Beneath is
explanation of of few required skills to hotel manager :-
1. Communication : Communication is very much important skill for hotel manager of IBIS
Hotel. As their main role is to make communication with their employees and customers, so
that they can provide effective products and services to their customers. Also, this help them
in solving the issues and providing solution for the problems faced by their customers and
also help their employees in detailing about the roles and responsibilities which they have to
play, so that they can perform assigned tasks in appropriate manner. This all help their
customers by improving their experience with organisation and also help their employees in
improving their performance.
2. Human resource management : Along with communication, for hotel manager of IBIS
Hotel, it is very much important for them to have skills of human resource management
also. As this help the manager of IBIS Hotel in managing proper number of employees in
their organisation along with proper skill set in them. This all help manager in distributing
total work in appropriate manner. Along with this, this help their employees in giving their
best, so that organisation can get good results.
TASK 2
P3 Assess own abilities, skills and competencies for a specific job role.
For an individual it is very much to analyse and assess their own skills and competencies, as
this all help them in improving their skills, so that they can improve their performance and also
attain their goals and objectives. I am working as hotel manager in IBIS Hotel, and it is very much
important for me to analyse my skills, so that I can make appropriate improvements in them and
also enhance my performance in organisation. There are different tools which I can use for
analysing my own performance, some of the are detailed beneath :-
1. The EFQM excellence model : This is one of the widely used tool in the world for making
analysis of self performance. As, using this will help me in analysing my strengths and

weaknesses along with strengths and weaknesses of my skills. As gaining information about
all this will help me in making proper and required improvement in it, so that my
performance can get improved. Along with this, it help me in gaining knowledge that how I
can improve my skills and benchmarks also, which results in improvement in overall
performance of mine and hotel. For example, that I have skills to handle about 60 employees
at a time and have ability to solve queries of them only. And also, it is required by me to
have skills that I can handle and solve issues of about 100 employees at single time. For this,
I have to set my benchmarks from 60 to 100, so that my skills can get improved.
2. The CQAL model : It stand for Common Quality Assurance Framework. From it's name it is
very much clear that this tool is associated with quality of product and service. As I can use
this tool to make it sure that the work performed by me is able to meet the minimum criteria
of performance or not in IBIS Hotel. This tool will help me in getting detail about my
performance and skills, and also help me getting knowledge about improvements which are
required by me in my skills.
P4 Review a range of learning theories and approaches used for personal and professional
development processes.
After making an analysis of hard and skills of hotel manager, it is very much essential for
them to adopt different theories and approaches, which can help them in personal and professional
development process. Beneath are some theories of the it :-
1. Behaviourism : This is a type of learning theory which is concerned with the behaviour of
an individual. As in this, it has been checked that mind set of individual is positive about
learning or not (Moran, Burson and Conrad, 2016). In present content, to being hotel
manager in IBIS Hotel, it is very much necessary for me to learn new skills and abilities. As
this all will help me improving my skills and my performance, so that I can attain my goals
and objectives. This all help IBIS Hotel in attaining changes in effective manner, so that
they can grow and develop themselves.
2. Cognitivism : This is another type of learning theory, where an individual use to learn new
things as per their internal aspects not by external pressure. This is very much helpful for
me, as I am working as hotel manager in IBIS Hotel and it lead me to learn by my complete
efforts, as this help me in learning more things as compared to behaviourism. This helps me
in making improvements in my skills, which will help me in enhancing my performance and
also help hotel in attaining their goals and objectives.
3. Constructivism : This is a type of learning theory under which it is said that an individual

have to generate their own thoughts and ideas, which are based on their older learning and
experiences. In this to being a manager of IBIS Hotel, it is very much important for me to
take proper training and development session, which help me in gaining skills that how I can
make some new idea by the use to of my old experiences and learning, so that I can solve
some specific issues (Mylrea, Sen Gupta and Glass, 2017). This all will help me in finding
some effective solution in very less time.
TASK 3
P5 Construct a development plan to enhance chosen skills and competencies within a specific work
context.
For hotel manager of IBIS Hotel it is very much important to design a appropriate
development plan. As this will help the hotel manager in getting information about the skills that
have and also help them in attaining knowledge about the skills which they have to improve. Along
with this, it will help them in getting detail about the resources which they will require for
improving their skills and competencies along with time period (Towle and et. al, 2016).

Me : My name is John Chilli, and presently, I am on the job of hotel manager in ABC organisation,
and also performing my operations on this designation from last 3 years and also have completed by
education from XYZ university with these percentage.
Interviewer : That's good, as you tell us that you have a good job, then why are you trying to switch
your job ?
Me : Sir, IBIS Hotel is one of the huge hotel organisation in Europe and also use to provide their
products and services in different parts of world, and here they are providing us opportunity so that
we can work with you.
Interviewer : Okay, last question with you is that, Give one reason so that we can hire you.
Me : As, I have detailed you that I am currently working as hotel manager in ABC organisation
from last 3 years. This all has helped me in improving my skills and also help me in gaining

P7 Review key strengths and weaknesses of an applied interview process.
The interview method used by Human Resource Manager in IBIS Hotel is structured
interview, which is one of the most commonly used interview method in formal organisation. This
is a type of interview which is used by organisations, so that they can perform interview in
traditional manner (Williams, 2014). Also, for HR manager it is very much important to have detail
about the strengths and weaknesses of methods they are using. Some of strengths and weaknesses of
structured interview is as follow :-
Strengths :
1. This is a type of interview where interviewee have opportunities to ask some well
standardised questions to their interviewer, and have expectations of getting some
standardised answers.
2. The main strength of this type of interview is that the structure, sequence and format of it

remain constant for all interviews (Strengths and Weaknesses of Structured Interview, 2019).
3. Face to face interaction between interviewee and interviewer help in reducing the chance of
misinterpretation.
Weaknesses :
1. This is a time consuming process and also need huge cost for conducting this (Xu, 2014)..
2. Misinterpretation of questions by interviewee will lead to failure of interview process.
CONCLUSION
From the above given report, it has been concluded that, professional identity is very much
important for an individual, as this help them in analysing their own skills, so that they can make
required improvement in them. Also, professional development is very much helpful for an
organisation and for stakeholder and for specific job role an individual must have some skills with
them. Also, professional development plan helps an individual in assessing their skills and also help
them in making improvements accordingly. Along with this, it has been concluded that there are
ample number of interview methods used by an organisation and also it is very much important for
their HR manager to analyse the strengths and weaknesses of that method, so that they can use it in
appropriate manner.
