INTRODUCTION
Professional learning and practice can be defined as a work of an individual related to a
particular profession. Professional learning is an engagement of an individual to stimulate
thinking as well as knowledge to make sure that their professional practices are up to date
(Ignatavicius and Chung, 2016). This study is going to show importance of personal beliefs and
values that drive an individual professionally and personally. Positive beliefs improve
productivity of an individual and also makes them able to give ethical based services to others.
Further, it will also describe the importance of professional learning and practices that lead to a
professional identity.
TASK 1
Reflective analysis on personal beliefs and value
According to the Kaya and et.al., (2017) Personal belief can be defined as an idea that an
individual and a professional healthcare leadership holds as being true. It comes from different
sources and in professionalism it mainly comes from an individual's experience, experiments,
social norms, ability to accept social culture etc. The main aim of holding beliefs is to help
themselves in order to understand the world and its all elements. It also helps an individual to
make an effective decisions and also give quick response to any type of situation. On the other
hand, values are long-lasting beliefs as it contains all those beliefs and things which is the most
important for an individual. So, it can be said that beliefs can be categorized in different types of
values which are important for the person and specially when all beliefs are related to success,
career, happiness, wealth etc.
In the context of personal value and beliefs I can say that my personal positive beliefs
that I can do it helped me out in my professional life and also developed my knowledge as
healthcare leadership. This personal belief and important value also helped my out in my
personal as well as in my professional life to take an effective decision and give valuable
services to patients and their families as well. I can also was that there is a requirement for nurses
and health care providers to have knowledge and awareness concerning professional values as
standard because it helps out to them to provide qualitative, ethical and safe care. Primary
standards is recognized as professional values, my personal positive beliefs and values also

helped me out in evaluating the integrity of organization and patients. As per the view of
Heckemann, Schols and Halfens, (2015) Personal values and beliefs are developed and
influenced by the culture, family and ethnicity. A nurse's professional identity develops
throughout lifetime and I also believe this as a truth because the environment in which we as a
nurse and professional spent our most of the time, it fosters and develops our personal beliefs
and long term values.
This personal beliefs and values which I got from the environment, my family taught me
that all patients should be treated in an equal manner without discriminated them on the basis of
gender, race etc. This personal values drove me personally and professionally as a health care
provider because it developed the capacity to recognize everyone and motivate them as everyone
has values which helped them in getting the positive and the best outcomes. There are several
types of problems are being faced by nurses due to globalization, ageing population, migration
which leads to shortage of skilled workforce and all these issues results in ethical problems for
health care provider. I personally believe that personal values and beliefs also can help an
individual in solving all these issues and make all activities ethically. I also believe that my
professional identity has been influenced hugely by my current position. Changes in duties and
new challenges created several problems. These changes in practices and adaption of
professional identity made me feel that I am lacking in some skills. I became uncomfortable but
continuous positive beliefs and values shaped by professional identity and I tried to give services
to patients without hesitation.
Reflective analysis on professional learning and practice in professional identity
Professional learning is a procedure of acquiring, enhancing as well as refining skills,
knowledge, practices that are relevant and necessary to perform all activities to the related
profession. For nurses and health care providers there is an importance to have proper knowledge
of diseases, importance of ethics, values etc. By professional learning and training an individual
can improve their practices and can take professional development growth (Marañón and Pera,
2015). Professional development can be developed not only by training but also by own
experience and reflection. This learning influenced by interaction with other professionals and
working in a team also helped me out in developing my profession identity as I learned too many
new things related to my profession. This professional learning and practices created several
opportunities in my profession and personal life such as:

Development of shared understanding of the vision: It is important for care provider
and nurses to have clear understanding of vision to become successful and accomplishing goals.
Professional care providers want to have a clear picture of the desired learning and environment.
I also believe that professional learning can be achieved by own experience and team working as
it creates an effective working environment that helps nurses to provide an effective care to
patients. It makes a professional identity of an individual. Team working and creation of learning
environment via professional learning to develop share understanding of common vision.
Professional learning is recognized as a tool that helped me out in plan development of and
engagement in professional learning.
Engagement in job embedded collaboration: I feel and can say from my experience
that an individual who have willingness to learn something new and professional learning from
their peers, colleagues they get more collaborative learning opportunities that can improve their
professional identity. This professional learning helped me out to communicate with patients,
their families and others in an effective manner which give them value and made them feel
respected. By developing knowledge in professional learning via training and team working, an
individual can solve any type of critical problem efficiently. I personally felt that this
understanding of knowledge, skills and professional practices improved my relationship with
patients, their families and with my colleagues that improve working environment (Kearney-
Nunnery, 2015).
Analysis and use of value, beliefs and motivation on professional learning and practice
In the context of motivation and values it can be said that it plays an integral role in
developing a professional identity and help an individual to drive him/her personally and
professionally. There is an important role of positive values, beliefs and motivation in
professional learning as well as in practices. According to the Andersson and Palm, (2017)
values, beliefs and motivation establish a behaviour of an individual which helped them out in
decision-making process. There are some values which are required for performing an effective
job role of nurse and health care provider such as: human dignity, integrity, social justice and
honesty.
In these values and motivation context, it can say that my personal values of honesty and
social justice helped me out and drove me to provide an effective and equal services to all
patients and make them feel more valued. Ethical codes clarify nursing profession practices,

professional norms as well as the quality of professional care. With the increasing number and
complexity of ethical issues in health care services, promotion of professional values has become
more crucial in nursing education. Motivation is a thing and a goal that push an individual to
perform their tasks effectively and learn something new. For accomplishing goals and
motivation, people try to acquire knowledge and skills relevant to their profession. So, it can be
said that motivation plays a vital role in professional learning and practices in nursing field.
I can say that my values, beliefs and motivation to get promotion in my professional field
made me able to work harder. It also increased my ability to take decision and work
independently to provide qualitative and equal services to patients (Siles-González and Solano-
Ruiz, 2016). There are several challenges and problems occur in nursing field and most of them
become more critical only because of unfavourable behaviour and attitudes of health care
workers and nurses towards patients that expect qualitative services. I also believe that ethical
behaviour, values and beliefs not only make an individual or nurse able to provide medical
service to patients but also make them able to provide additional services to their family
members to make them feel valued. So, it can be said that values, beliefs and motivations lead to
professional learning and improve continuous practices.
CONCLUSION
From the above study it has been concluded that personal beliefs and long term positive
values played a vital role. It helped an individual to develop their career and profession. Personal
values and beliefs made a person able to take an effective decision as well as give quick response
and improve their professional identity. Further, this study has also shown increasing importance
of professional continuous learning and practices as it developed them personally and
professionally and improved their skills, knowledge relevant to their career and field. Reflection
on own personal learning, values also made an individual able to provide qualitative and ethical
services to others.
