Reflection on professional development
In the context of marketing I can says that marketing manager has to play several functions
as he has the responsibility of promoting goods of company and attracting customer. I evaluated
my skills which can help me out in the future in my career. With the help of Gibbs model I can
evaluate my skills in better way such as:
Description: I want to describe some situations that happened with me and taught me several
things. As marketing assistant, while working with existing company I learned so many things. I
was asked to communicate with customers and making them able to buy products. I found that I
have an effective communication skill that helped me out in influencing different behaviours of
customers and also making them feel valued. Communication skill is the main key of the success
of marketing because one of the main responsibilities of marketing assistant is to make
customers able to buy products and promoting goods of company. We require an effective oral
and written communication skill because we have to use different modes of communication like
E-mail, face to face and others. For using different modes of communication in an effective
manner, oral and written communication skill play a vital role and this skill can improve my
relation with customers as well. I used different modes of communication as per the convenience
of customers and also tried to give their answers (Papadimitriou and Ramírez, 2018). I learned
that communication skill is also important for providing feedbacks and answers to customers’’
reviews.
Feeling: I want to share my feelings of situations which is experienced as marketing assistant
and I think that can help me out in the future and my professional development as a marketing
manager. While working as a marketing assistant I was asked to increase sales and improve

have different perspective which sometimes create barriers I decision-making and also create
conflicts. That time I felt that decision-making skill also plays an important role as t helps us out
in our both personal and professional field. I was lacking in this skill but I learned the way of
taking decision in such situations from my seniors and my team members. For better decision
making there is requirement of having problem solving and critical analysis skills as all these
skills are associated and linked with each others. For taking better decision, we require to solve
problem the first. It helps us out in analysing all things in a detailed manner and make us able to
take better decision. This decision making and problem solving skill can help me out in the
future for taking decision regarding selecting target, better modes of communication for
performing marketing functions and providing better solutions to customers as well. So, overall I
can say that communication, problem solving and decision making skills are main keys which
help marketing manager in making their functions easier.
Evaluation: I evaluated my skills as what skills I have and what skills I need to improve for
professional development while working as marketing assistant. I evaluated that research and
time management skills play a vital role. I found that I have an effective research skill and this
skill can help me out in gathering data related to current market and customers (Mobley And et.
Al., 2017) . Gathering data is important because on the basis of customers’ needs and their
information, marketing manager have to take decision and perform further functions. An
effective research and development skills helped me out in satisfying customers’ needs. I
gathered information related to current market as what is going on, which types of needs
customers have like their taste, colour and all other things related to products. After gathering all
these information, we require to provide all information to sales department as on the basis of all
these data they sell products to customers which satisfy their needs (Ardian, Hariyati and Afifah,
2019). On the other hand, I evaluated and found that I am lacking in time management skill area
as I become frustrated when I have to perform so many functions in given deadline. So, I need to
focus on this are because it makes us depressed. An effective time management skill can boost
our confidence and cam make us feel motivated. With the help of seniors and effective
professional development plan like making schedule and prioritizing work I can improve time
management skill and can perform all marketing functions in a timely manner.
