Professional Development Plan 3
Section 1 Introduction
I am very much familiar with the Professional Development Portfolio (PDP). This is
considered as one of the most important part of the Higher Education. The schools in UK are
embracing this portfolio for the purpose of institution use. It is one of the source through which
professional development and understanding of the student can be analyzed. The professional
development portfolio is considered as the structured and continuous process which can support
in the business and management studies. This is an innovative learning plan for the career
development and education.
I’m an educational professional and electrician. My portfolio has stressed on the
significance of my employment to the world. This has been an interesting process to undertake
this study. As a former electrician, this process of professional development portfolio is new to
me. Through the completion of this professional development portfolio, it has provided with me
an opportunity to reflect my skills. I find my journey to be very satisfying. Over the past six
years, I have maintained a file of few documents in form of LinkedIn portfolio that can help in
the reflection of my work. This is a visual map that not only provides learning to other learners
but a clear insight of research work being undertaken.
Section 2 Personal Reflective Statement
The learning Journey as an Electrician has been filled with number of twists. Throughout
this enduring journey, I adhere to practice the reflective nature of work (Butlar, 2015). I have
been continuously developing my skilled and critical thinking as Cleaner. With relation to my
thought process which have been developed with the course period of 6 years. I have started

working as a Linen Porter where I have worked for a period of six months and then I started
working as a window cleaner. In this profession of 14 months I have learned about the various
cleaning techniques and equipment’s and different processes through which I have been
continuously developing my skills (Maloney, 2016). I have embarked on various professions but
my dream was to work as a cleaner. This is how I have taken a crucial step towards the next
journey of my life. I have also worked as a Bar tender and handy man in my career. I enjoyed the
nature of cleaning processes and learning about new cleaning equipment’s. This is one of the
employment processes through which I can inspire other humans and encourage them for
undertaking the cleaning daily. Window Cleaner SWC ltd has been providing me with various
opportunities through which I’m able to identify the problems and perform mechanical work and
electrical breakdowns (Treiger, 2016). I also repair electrical, plumbing and safety systems as
and when required by the company and its units. There have been continuous requests through
property managers and providing the maintenance services as and when required. I have
undergone trainings IPAF 3a, 3b and Harness Training as required by the scope of my work. I
was provided with the opportunity of being a full time student in Business and Management
studies which I have undertaken it.
Section 3 Personal Reflection on Professional Role
My professional experience can be summarized as follows-
Linen Porter
Window Cleaner
Part time waiter/bartender
Handyman

Window Cleaner
From my first Linen porter Job, I have tried to support the customers and my company
professionals in transportation and recording numbers. Initially through my trainings, this has
helped me in my job (Jun, 2014). The fact that my education has been through the “Stefan Cel
Mare” High School-Romania has been very helpful. At present, the cleaning industry has gone
many changes and this requires regular training and sound knowledge of various different
cleaning processes. My job has been to record the number of items which were being
transported, Later, I developed interest in the cleaning job where my job role was involved with
general cleaning of the various assigned facilities. My role also involved the cleaning of glass
with and continuously working with my team members. The work needs to be performed with
the use of ladders and tucker poles and other equipment’s. My company also invited the cleaners
for the regular meetings wherein the cleaners were told regarding the safety procedures.
Appropriate techniques must be used for cleaning and safety cleaning procedures must be
adopted (Muller, 2016).
As a cleaner, I have been doing the windows cleaning and ensure the optimal security levels.
The cleaning job needs to be performed with determination and different places are required to
be reached like top floors. It is essential to have knowledge on the utility of different swing stage
and different processes and equipment’s for cleaning the outside windows. I have been managing
all the glass surfaces and necessary attention is provided from time to time (Karnchana
Choomon, 2012).
My profession has brought a lot of change in my perspective. As an electrician, I have been
performing light repairs and maintenance. Performing the routine landscaping and continuously
inspecting all the community spaces. This is one of the job roles through which electricians can

identify the problems that are concerned with breakdowns, mechanic failures and litter. I had
been continuously making changes in the way we perform the work. We are also provided
training from time to time and various safety programs are developed from time to time. The
significant aspect is to respond to job requests from community managers.
Section 4 Reflection on Learning and Planning for Development
My professional role as an electrician and cleaner has given me with opportunity to
provide a reflective practice to the community. I have enrolled in Business and Management-UK
College of Business and Computing (Bath Spa University) which provide me with plethora of
opportunities where I can explore my nature of work (Wu, 2019). We are encouraged to work
with coordination with team members and perform as per the requirements of community. I
receive requests from the property managers and tenants where I perform the maintenance and
cleaning services as and when required. As a full time student in Business and Management and
window cleaner in SWC limited, I have been learning the ins and outs of repair and maintenance
work. My job is to ensure the safety and security levels of the entire area. This is a reflective
practice where in gaining experience in work based learning. Professional development
framework works as a continuous marker for all the professions wherein the individual duties
and responsibilities can be checked from time to time. My colleagues and team mates are very
cooperative and offer learning based lessons from time to time (Mohd-Rahim Faizul Azli Bin,
2012).
A lot of work is available to cleaners and electricians but the aim must be to provide
effective and quality work. The up-skilling of work is very significant aspect of every profession.
The continuous learning support is being provided by the Bath Spa University. I have been

leaning to reflect my learning skills and ability through the different programs and providing the
community with knowledge based work. I have recognized that there are continuous
opportunities and challenges in the professional role of electrician and cleaner (Shahid and
Azhar, 2014). One of the important stages is carrying out SWOT Analysis (Strengths, Weakness,
Opportunities and Threats). This helps in developing skills and being pro-active. I have learnt
variety of experiences and recognized through SWOT analysis the self-motivation. When
working with property managers, there is a need to implement the client-centered profession and
generate positive outcomes. This is regard to the problems being faced by the people. There are
certain circumstances where the collaboration is must with the team members and this will help
in the generation of positive outcomes. This is how I have learned about different perspectives
and execute the work on time. I have been encouraged to building rapport with my clients and
project managers and implementing safety sessions for the patrons from time to time. This not
only provides confidence in me but managing the work within flexible hours is considered
important for any career. The regular safety sessions are considered as crucial for all the project
supervisors and clients and people can practice with confidence. I also need to work on
development of skills of my teammates and make the safety sessions more exciting. This
involves application of strategies and enhancing the skills of my teammates is a significant
aspect.
Section 5 Skills Analysis and Training
As a professional cleaner, I have got good support and advice from the staff members and
supervisors. This has been guiding me effectively throughout my job and Business and
Management course. There have been number of opportunities where I can network and also

receiver support through colleagues. The provision of learning and training opportunities has
helped me to assess my weaknesses and strengths from time to time (Bu, 2019). This will help
me in further development. I was hesitant to enroll myself in a Business and Management course
but through the extensive network of colleagues and team mates, I have been able to gauge my
strengths and perform well. Harness Training, IPAF 3a, 3b have helped in my nature of work. In
any nature of work, 6the continuous professional development is required. I have always adhered
towards training processes and continuous learning while being on the job. Updating the
knowledge and skills in considered as a merely beginning towards to career progression (Hayes
and Robnolt, 2006).
The business and management course in Bath Spa University has allowed assessing my
performance on a timely basis. I have analyzed that I need to attend the regular safety meetings
through which I will be able to expand my scope of work. There are certain areas where the
profession involves a lot of time constraints and these must be resolved with self-confidence and
patience (Hope, 2015). The regular safety meetings are aimed at solving these human errors and
meeting up with the expectations of the property managers and senior personnel’s. As a full time
student, I’m encouraged to undertake full time research and this result in professional and
personal learning. The professional development takes a lot of time but it helps in eradication of
negatives. The reflection on the training program is I have gained different perspectives of
performing my job role and this has improvised my execution time (Treiger, 2016).
Section 6 Research Activities

circuit. On reflection, the research studies undertaken provides me with the learning and self-

esteem benefits. This has helped in increasing the knowledge base through the different research
activities both professionally and personally (Zein, 2016). During the time of business and
management research, I have been able to make many contacts. Networking has been of great
advantage. The business and management course in Bath Spa University has been of great
benefit and has helped me to progress in my career. I have met with number of influential and
interesting people through which idea generation has been done to a great extent.
The research activities assist in the process of self-learning and development and provide
the individual with abstract concepts and concrete experience. The learning process undergoes
through experimentation and which not only helps in the career record but also in the promotion
of new jobs. I have been challenged academically and have been able to channelize the key
experiences (Alexandrou, 2013). This is an achievement in itself and plan for future can be done.
I have been able to acquire the new skills and gain recognition through my education and job.
The research activities are aimed at providing with experience and help others. The Business and
Management program is concerned with assembling the portfolios of different individuals from
their careers. This is how the professionals are encouraged to learn the new techniques and
processes (Avidov-Ungar, 2016).
Sharing of portfolios is a great task wherein the people not only gain experience but also
learn the new tasks and jobs within a given time frame. The portfolios encourage research
activities which are undertaken within the given career period of an individuals. This benefits the
other humans. There are new responsibilities and good targets which are identified from time to
time. This can also act as an induction program for the new learners and makes them more
enthusiastic about the job profile of different personnel’s.
