In this case, the consent must be taken for related treatment
and nurse must ensure that Jason receives best care.

2.Compare and contrast how professional practice with collaborative
practice
 Case study and effective team work:
 In order to work collaboratively in the clinical setting , Hesse-Biber
(2016), suggested that each health professionals must involve in
effective communication , convey relevant information with each
other , resolve conflicts by acknowledging the difference of each
other and involve in the share decision making.
In this case study, the elements that impacted team work include
• Limited communication between professionals since disruption
of effective communication observed between case manager and
the line manager, the nurse.
• No professional support regarding complexity of care of Jason
• lack of proper home arrangements for rehabilitation and case
manager is unaware of progress of proper home arrangements
• nursing professional considered the care as complex rather than
seeking clinical help or perspective of others

2. Compare and contrast how professional practice with
collaborative practice
Two theories of nursing are prominent to implement in the case study.
 Interpersonal theory: the theory designed by peplau and it stated that
nursing therapeutic process where professional engaged with the
patients who require health services (Deane & Fain, 2016). Considering
the case study, no involve of nurses with Jason observed rather
incomplete documentation observed and nurses stated that the care
process is complex, indicating the professional practice failed to comply
with the inter-professional practice
 Collaborative Nursing Theory : It was developed by Marijo Dolojol and it
stated that nursing professionals must acknowledge the perspective of
patients and collaborates with other professionals to provide best care
(Regan, Laschinger & Wong, 2016). In this context, when the goal was
to maximise Jason’s level of function and help him transition from
hospital to independent living in the community so that patient can
involve in social activities , no proper collaboration observed. These
factors indicated that professional practice failed to comply with the
inter-professional practice

record prior to the transfer and assessing his wound

involve in the care that respect autonomy,
promote beneficence and non maleficence (Yıldız,
2019).
Hence, to comply with the ethics
mentioned above, nurse can be involve Jason in
the effective communication and provide access
to the proper care by properly documenting
treatment and rehabilitation, financial support for
Jason through the National Disability Insurance
Scheme. The nurse must apply Principle 2.1 and
5.1 of NMBA ethics to improve quality of care in
the care to promote best practice.

 Nursing is considered as the profession where professionals
provide protection, promotion, and optimization of health and
abilities; prevention of illness and injury.
 considering the case study, since I have developed excellent
communication skills, I would communicated with Jason family
regarding the transfer, locating available rehabilitation by
communicating team in a Barringfield area. Since Jason has
difficulty in communication and have low functional skills, the
communication with Jason family and , locating available
rehabilitation will help to achieve desired goal of having a
purposeful life.
 in this case, I would contact Social worker and Psychologist so
that he can have better life and assist him to gather safe care
skills.
 however, since I have poor conflict resolving skills , I would
required to involve training and seek assistance of supervisor for
gathering the skills.

Reflect on the learning
experience:
previously I was unaware the important of inter-professional
collaboration and communication in the clinical setting. In this
context, after involving in the assignment, I gathered in
understanding of inter-professional collaboration and
communication and how lack of communication affect the quality
of care. I involve into evidence based research to gather the
information regarding complex care. In future, I will incorporate
the knowledge to provide best possible care to the patient who will
seek perioperative care.
