main reason behind health-inequality includes lack of proper access of healthcare support,
poor socio-economic determinants and lack of proper knowledge about diseases and
healthcare related outcomes. So in order to provide effective care to the Aboriginals
communities, effective communication holds premium importance. According to Hibbard
and Greene (2013) effective communication done through maintenance of eye contact,
effective listening helps the Aboriginals community patients to understand the process of care
and participate in the decision making process. This increases their participation in the care
plan therapy adherence and creating provision for informed decision making. Hibbard and
Greene (2013) further stated that having constant support from aboriginal nurse helps in
development of therapeutic relationship further.
Conclusion
I learnt from this experience that effective communication is an important aspect
underlying the development of therapeutic relationship and holds prime significance in
Aboriginal care.
