1. Despeisse, M., Baumers, M. (2017). Unlocking value for a circular economy through 3D
printing: A research agenda. Technological Forecasting and Social Change, 115, 75-
84.
The article summarizes the emerging business opportunities in the 3D printing and the
realistic valuation of 3D start-up companies in the modern day era of business and
technology. The authors of the article are Baumers Moseko an Doctor in Computing
sciences, Despeisse Mahil an Professor of economics and Innovation while Finn Hahn is an
engineer in Product Development. The key findings and themes in the research article are the
seven propositions offered by different 3D start-ups that were offering the consumer a link to
the companies offering 3D technology, websites of companies themselves that allowed
consumers get services, availability of software that enabled the consumer to create the 3D
design for a specific market, printer firms for the designs created and ability of the consumer
to purchase the 3D design printer. The propositions were also categorized according to the
valuation in terms of pricing, with the most sort out being companies that sold affordable 3D
printers, companies offering online 3D design and printing and the companies offering tools
and software for 3D designing. The research was contacted by identifying 79 3D printing
companies online that had a less than 3 years’ operations. The research involved describing
the company, its services offered and the number of investments attracted by the firm. The
reference is important my report for adoption of 3D designs and printing as used in business
activities such as advertisements.
2. Pisano, P. (2015). Identify innovative business models: can innovative business models
enable players to react to ongoing or unpredictable trends?. Entrepreneurship Research
Journal, 5(3), 181-199.
This article reviews the increase of the 3D printing companies into the modern day
business and technology. It also seeks to review the impact of the 3G designs and prints
in application industries such as aerospace to develop fuel efficient aero ships. The author
Pisano Pakito is an associate professor of Technology. Key findings in the article are the

increase in the patent acquisition of the 3D printing companies that make the future of 3D
printing possible. Stand out themes in the paper are the development and uses of 3D
printing in technology to create more efficient designs and products that are eco-friendly
and cost affordable. The research was conducted by identifying the number of companies
that acquiring the patent to produce 3D prints. The research involved determining the
consumers of 3D printing technology and the application of the technology in their
products. The report is useful in supporting the topic on 3D printing. The study
emphasizes on the importance of 3D printing in designs and construction both in health,
computing, engineering and business.
Recommendation.
1. The paper “Unlocking value for a circular economy through 3D printing” by
Despeisse, M., Baumers, M., presented to the Technological Forecasting and
Social Change in 2017 is a quality report that captures the realistic emerging
issues in 3D printing and its relevance in technology.
2. The article “Identify innovative business models” by Pisano, P presented in
the Entrepreneurship Research Forum in 2015 is a good paper that illustrates
the development of 3D printing usage in the modern day technology and
illustrates the application in different capacities of technology.
