INTRODUCTION
Academic integrity refers to those values in practise by being honest in the academic
work an individual does at university. It can be possible through by being fair to others and
taking responsibility for others and also followed the convention of scholarship. Academic
integrity is basically the set of values that apply in every spectrum that an individual do. These
values should support and guide all of the learning and academic work. It allows staff members
and students the freedom to build new ideas, creative and knowledge works while
acknowledging and respecting the work for others. So academic integrity is very important from
every aspect(Butterworth., 2021). There are majorly five pillars of academic integrity which
includes honesty, trust, fairness, respect and responsibility. The present report will cover
discussion about academic plagiarism and in which manner academic integrity is related to
professionalism in the environment of business.

Academic plagiarism basically refers to that situation when a writer uses more than four
words in the repeated form from a printed source without support of quotation marks. It is
basically illegal and unethical in terms of nature but also seems to be an upward trend in the
activity. Plagiarism is all about stealing someone else's work without giving them a proper credit
and within academic writing, plagiarism basically includes ideas, words or information from a
source without citing it in appropriate manner. Plagiarism has basically various number of forms
which basically includes copying the published or unpublished text of any length whether it is
done in deliberate manner or into the accident form (Akhmetova and Seytbenbet.,2018).
Plagiarism is also about paraphrasing the someone's arguments or ideas or copying someone
else's unique words without giving proper credit to them. It is also in the form by turning in a
thesis or paper which is written by someone else even if the individual is paid for it.

The academic work also categorised into plagiarism when the ideas or phrases that has
been used into the previous work and do not get cite into the previous work. It has been observed
that when writers and public speakers exposed into the form of plagiarist into the professional
manner then they may lose their jobs. They may also have to suffer from public embarrassment,
loss of credibility and diminished prestige as well. Academic plagiarism also create problems in
their whole career as once they are comes into this shadow of it because it basically reflects
poorly on person's judgement, honesty and integrity(Eaton., 2018). The consequences of
plagiarism are not just on personal level but it also degrade the image on social level as well. So
in the ultimate manner, plagiarism is serious because it erodes public trust in information. To
avoid academic plagiarism, it is important that to properly follow the guidelines and rules as well
so that further challenges and problems can't be faced by an individual in terms of their future
growth.
Within the business environment, academic integrity is relevant to professionalism
because academic integrity is basically the value of applying self principles which enables an
individual to do the right thing even in absence of other people as well. Academic integrity is
also important at professional level because as it supports in terms of establishing trust between
the individual and the people around an individual into the field of business. Within the business
environment every person is new for each other and virtue of trust is very important so a person
who have academic integrity can fit themselves easily in such an environment. At professional
level trust is very necessary because on the basis of that it leads to successful progress in the
business.
Academic integrity is relevant to the professionalism because it makes one's degree to be
valued into the positive manner. Individuals who are graduates have high personal integrity and
stands in a better manner for employers society. Professionals prefer to deal with those people
who can positively influence the development of an organisation and can be trusted in terms of
carrying out the company's mission(Henning., 2018). Within business environment, academic
integrity is related to professionalism and having academic integrity is necessary because it
contribute in terms of offering one's self-confidence.

It also means that an individual can easily accept the task in professional manner which is
given to them for as one believes in themselves that the skills acquired are genuine to undertake
the task. Academic integrity also contribute in terms of giving peace of mind at professional
level when doing the right things at right time(King., 2015).In the overall manner, having
academic integrity supports an individual from getting into unnecessary problems such as being
prohibited from employment by certain institutions. Within the business environment, academic
integrity is relevant to professionalism in this manner as well where it provides stress-free life
even end up being more productive. So academic integrity is very important at organisational
level.

The above stated report concludes that academic integrity is very important for students
and professionals as well. It has has been concluded that academic plagiarism is a very serious
issue which create problems in the whole career life of an individual. It has been determined that
academic work categorised into various forms of plagiarism because there are various ways
through which work can comes into the category of plagiarism. It has been analysed that within
business environment, academic integrity is relevant to professionalism because individuals who
have higher level of personal integrity then they can do their work in a very relaxed and tension
free manner. Academic integrity is basically based on trust and this trust can be developed with
professionals through the honesty and integrity in terms of working and documents related to
employment. So academic integrity is very important from every perspective whether its is
personal or professional career life.
