INTRODUCTION
Portfolio is said to be the academic work of a student which is used in educational sector in
order to make sure that students are able to develop a number of skills which are required for
over or development purposes and also making them employable in future. This is used in order
to make a detailed evaluation of all the learnings which have been accomplished by student
throughout their life (Baker.and et. al., 2015). It is just on the basis of standard criteria which
includes great promotions graduation and so on. In the following report a reflective account is
made which consist of all the skills on coursework.
SKILL REFLECTION
When I was in my college, I had a number of different types of skilling system which was
used in class lectures by me. I have made a weekly division of some of the skills which I learnt
during my class lectures in college. Some of such skills are mentioned below:
Time and task management skill: task here is a piece of work which I completed during my
assignment. Management is considered as a process which is used for managing the task I
performed. I learned a time management skill in order to accomplish all the goals and objectives
set up by me within a given time period. This skill will help me in future in order to utilise my
team in the most effective manner. All the work to be done will be divided according to time
from now on. I will make sure that my priority is fulfilled regarding the goals and objectives
within the time allotted from my superiors or an authorized person. As a student this skill will
help me in managing my assignments and also writing my papers.

Group formation: This aspect includes formation of groups as well as teams. Group is when a
people who have common interest interact with one another and come together to work on the
same skills they have towards a common vision. I have also developed a quality in which I can
easily form a group with the help of a number of people and make them work together. There are
various norms to group behavior which I have been incorporating in me (Basturkmen, 2014). I
also learned about different groups which are formal as well as informal groups and now I am a
part of both such groups.

Presentation skill: while completing my college I also got an opportunity to acquire presentation
skills. Presentation skill place and essential part in life of every individual as these are the skills
which allow one to connect with people and also gain the sense of leadership and sense of
responsibility. Presentation skills help in giving me influential personality and also making me
aware that no stage fear can overcome my achievements. It is important to be a good
communicator when your present skill. Presentation requires not only verbal but also
communication through science, signals, vocals and expressions. I have learned ways to engage
my audience while presentation as well.

Communication skill: Communication skill is important for every individual in this world.
While studying in college I acquired this very important skill which includes different aspects of
communication such as verbal communication, written communication and so on. Electronic
communication is a new kind of communication which have been recognised in today’s world.
This communication was also acquired by me in classes. I learned a number of things about
communication such as use of words, body language, Signals, which modulation, vocals and so
on. Now I am an effective communicator and can build cordial relationship with people through
my communication skills. Communication skills provide future opportunities for good
employment.

Academic integrity: Academic integrity is a virtue of character which includes three steps that
are discerning, acting and saying openly. It is very important for a person to be honest. Being a
student, I have acquired this skill where I honestly recognise what impact does my existence
have on others. This has helped me in my overall development. There is also an opposite concept
of academic honesty which relates to some of the unfair advantages which a person might get
from dishonesty. I have understood the concept of academic integrity better seeing all its
negative as well as positive aspects.

Academic writing skill: Writing skill is an important aspect which everyone requires these days.
While attending my class pictures I learnt to write about my thinking, thoughts as well as idea in
detail which may be understandable by others easily. It will be helping in the future for me to
face all the cognitive challenges that take place around me. It has helped me developing
confidence to express my thoughts via writing. Through my writing I can influence others and
also deal with all the positive and negative situations arising. There is another academic writing
skill which includes group discussion which I have clearly developed and understanding about.
Very important to be very cautious while writing as no person knows what are your expressions
and gestures while writing so each one can have a different opinion and perspective about your
writing. There are a number of features in academic writing such as complex, formal, informal,
structured and so on. The importance of paragraphs and all the explanations regarding the data
business presented in writing skills plays an important part.

Value of reflection: through the help of a number of assignment and class pictures which were
attended by me during the college I have come to know about deep understanding of what is
reflection all about. Reflection basically is a concern wheels a number of issues are dealt with in
present situation. It basically involves the recognition of feelings of an individual in present
scenario and a detailed analysis is done by the individual on themselves in a reflection. This also
brought along for me a number of ways and concepts which are associated to affective and
timely learning.

CV writing: It is important for an individual to know how to represent his CV (Flores, Kleyn and
Menken, 2015). CV consist of all the academic achievements as well as rewards attained by an
individual throughout their life. It is important to create while looking for a job. This will present
a life scenario of individual in front of employer. It is a very important skill which will come in
to help when academic career. of a person is completed and they are looking forward to start
their work in job career. The first step when a student is entering into corporate world is creating
an effective CV. It is important skill which every student must gain while studying. A CV
contains all the documents about the students including their achievements, experiences,
qualification as well as awards attained by them. This helps in demonstrating the potential of a
candidate when applying for a job. An effective CV is a great way to have a great impact on
employer and make oneself recognizable in front of employees. When your CV is better than
others it will create a better impact on the hiring committee then rest of the candidates.

Writing a cover letter: while I was in my classroom lectures, I learnt another most important
skill which is writing a cover letter. I develop the understanding on various rules of writing and
effective cover letter. It included how the opening paragraph will start, what all will be included
in body of the letter and also how to end a letter. I also learnt various rules regarding the cover
letter that there should not be any grammatical errors or typing inconsistencies while drafting a
cover letter. This skill will help me in future whenever I need to draft the cover letter.

Plagiarism: Plagiarism is an unlawful attempt which must not be conducted during academics.
While attending my college I came to know about a number of factors on how can plagiarism
impact career of an individual and have a negative impact on their future.It is important for every
individual to stay away from plagiarism as it is an unlawful and illegal activities which might
bring troubles for you in future.

Reading skills: Reading skills play is in very important role in overall development of
individual. It is important for a student as well as for a person who is working in corporate
sector. When I was in my college, I started my day with learning and reading a number of good
contents. I read a number of books and journals in order to increase my reading skills. I
understood what is the importance of reading as it increases my vocabulary, factor, comparison
skills, reflective skills and a number of other skills. Reading brings knowledge to a person. An
avid reader is always thought to be more intelligent than others.

Employability skills: apart from a number of skills which are mentioned above I came to learn
about which off the skills are necessary in order to get me an employment. There are a number of
attributes which are associated with the skill. In my class in college I came to know about this is
divided into four basic categories which include leadership and self-development, creativity,
social and ethical awareness in the last one will be acquisition of knowledge and implication of
that in detail (Valentino and Reardon, 2015). These are the four basic attributes which I learnt
about how to apply in practical situation while looking for an employment.

ADVANTAGES OF SKILL IN ACAEDEMIC LIFE
This report shows my overall experience I have identified there are a number of skills which
are very important in life while studying as well as while looking for a job. The classroom
lectures at my university allowed me to give weekly presentations which help me develop a lot
of confidence in me. I was afraid to go on stage and speak something. I always thought that my
communication skills or not that good but while doing this presentation I learned about
plagiarism, communication skills and how to influence others and guide others. It also helps me
make new friends and make my personality recognisable by all. I was more confident in
communicating with my fellow classmates and my teammates after these presentations and
development of skills. I can now indulge anyone with an affective an intelligent conversation
with me. I also learn on how to develop a CV. It will help me when I pass out my college and go
looking for a job. CV is a document which reaches to an employer even before they see you.
Thus, it is important to make a strong impact with the help of CV on the employer. I also learned
about writing skills which help me in making a number of projects and assignments during my
college days. All the skills gain by me will help me in future and also make me employable. Now
we are looking for a job I will know how I need to present myself in front of employers what I
need to say in my interviews and how I need to build their confidence in me and employ me in
this competitive environment. The competition in today’s world have become more difficult.
