INTRODUCTION
Health and Social Care is a term that relates to services that are available from health and
social care providers in the UK. This is a generic term used to refer to the whole of the healthcare
provision infrastructure, and private sector. The four principles are: Respect for autonomy– the
patient has the right to refuse or choose their treatment. Beneficence– a practitioner should act in
the best interest of the patient. Justice– concerns the distribution of scarce health resources, and
the decision of who gets what treatment. This report covers questions such as purpose and
importance of reflection in health and social care practice, Gibbs and Kolb's models of reflection,
role of practice themes and CQC standards, Reflect upon the methods to gain feedback on your
practice, My performance and learning against the practice themes and other performance
indicators, Evaluate your own holistic professional learning and development through practice

LO 1
Purpose and importance of reflection in health and social care practice
Reflection practice is very important in all the actions which are taking place in any of
the fields because there is a requirement of knowing what is happening in the actions and how
they can be improved so that the practices can get better for other users. Understanding the
methods and practices which are happening in the health care service is very important because
they can be studied in detail so that the health care service will know few questions about
themselves. The few questions the health care service is having are What they are supposed to
know, what do they need to know the most, how will they understand the situation and how
much they can understand that and the last question is what measures the health care service can
take to take this learning further. (Cruess, Cruess and Steinert, 2016.)
Purpose and Importance
Reflections purpose in a health care is that it allows recognizing strengths and
weaknesses and will be used for the ongoing learning in health care services. Reflection will help
to develop skills such as improve motivation, self directed learning and improve the quality of

important for practices to keep changing with challenges which come in front of health and
social care. In health and care service there has to be a reflection of all methods and practices so
that health care service can improve them according to the wants and needs of the people. There
is a need to change the services the health and care services are giving and even the treatments
are changing very day therefore the reflection will tell health care service as to how health care is
doing and how patients or patients are reacting to it and what can be improvements which can be
taken up by health and social care. There are a lot of foreign practitioners can come in this
department and reflection has to be taken out because customers and patients should be satisfied
with services they are getting and not what the individual department is giving. Continuous
learning is involved in this process because it is very important and health care service needs to
make changes in health care service so that there is satisfaction (McCormack and McCance,
2016).
There is a health level demand of professionals in this field. Reflection is required
because it can make the industry understand the motive, attitude, values, perceptions and feelings
which are of the patients because that is very important for the health care service. An
understanding of all those factors is must because that can get around a lot of changes which are
required in the field so that the customer can feel more comfortable and satisfied with the health
care service and more people will be able to come in to the health and social care for help.
Gibbs and Kolb's models of reflection
There are particular stages in brief which are given by Gibbs and those are as follows,
description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusions and personal action plans. Description
includes what is happening without taking out any conclusion to the situation in the health care
services. Feelings include the emotions and reactions the patients and patients had to the
treatment or any function or changes in the health and social care. Evaluation is when the good
and the bad decisions are there is a value judgment which is made on that factor so that the
patients can get the right services from the health care centre. Analysis is when there is a sense
given to the situation and in this the new ideas from outside can be got and added in the industry
so that new outcomes can come out. There are two types of conclusion which are general and
specific the general conclusion includes what the conclusion could be in general sense from the
analyses and experience the health care service has undertaken. The specific conclusion there has
social care. In health and care service there has to be a reflection of all methods and practices so
that health care service can improve them according to the wants and needs of the people. There

the last stage which is known as personal actions plan is when there is a situation then the health
care service must think of different methods of dealing with them the next time. These steps are
taken from the learning the industry has make in the past.
Kolb's model is highlighting the experiential learning. This theory is making the
experience come into transformation because the experience of anyone counts and that is tried
and tested before which will make it a success. There is always an experience in the health care
service which is similar and the same steps can not be taken every time so the health care service
must try there best to take a better decisions so that they can make the health care service better.
Even in new situations the same method can be used so that the people can make a better result
of the experience with the new situation. The results will prove if the method should be used
again and again or not at all after this try. On the previous knowledge and experience of the
practitioner the decisions will be made in the health care service and that is what the Kolb's
model is all about. The past make a lot of different in the present situation and experimenting
will make results best for health care service.
Both the models being used in the health and social care are going to be wonderful idea
and the health care service will be able to grow better. It is very important for the health care
service to take out the reflection of the health care service so that the health care service does not
make any mistakes and take up challenges which will be harmful for the health care service. It is
very important for the health care service's to first experience and then make any further
decisions in the health care service. There are a lot of experiments which are taking place in the
health and social care for the benefits of the patients and the patients. Reflection method of both
the theories very nice and the health care service will be able to provide better services to the
customers (Walker, 2017).
Role of practice themes and CQC standards
Dignity and respect
There is a requirement of a lot of respect and dignity in the health care so that services
will be able to work. This factor is not just required by the patients but also the nurses in the
health care. There will be a lack of these two responsibilities then the health care service will not
be able to work and that is very important because the health care service has to run for long.

Health and social care is one of these services which have to treat its patients with a lot of care
and respect because that is a basic requirement which is expected out of patients.
Safety
Safety is another very important factor which is expected out of the nurses and the
patients because they need to get a safe environment so that they can heal up and the nurses are
comfortable working in that environment. The work will not happen by the patient and the
employee if they are not feeling safe and that is very important for the nurses.
Complaints
There must be complaints in all type of business and industries and specially in this type
of business it is very important because this way health care of health and social care can
improve its methods and processes to make a better place for themselves. The health care
service's main aim is to make the patients or the patients have a nice and comfortable health care
with them. The health care services do this because it is very essentials for them. Complaints
always help health care service to make a better place for themselves because they will have an
area they should be working upon (Dickinson and O'Flynn, 2016).
Law, regulations and ethical practice
There are a lot of ethical, regulations and laws regarding this factor and the health care
service which is the health and social care will have to make them be followed in their health
care service which is very important. The government has set a lot of law for the betterment of
the patients and the nurses who are working in such kind of places and the health and social care
follows them very well. The health care service follows them because they do not want any legal
cases on them, and they themselves want the health care service to be a better place so that the
patients are comfortable in this.
Promoting Physical and Mental Health
The health care service is also taking care of the people who are physically and mentally
not so healthy because that is another factor which is supposed to be taken care by the health and
social care because that is also a social responsibility. The health and social care people are also
promoting and making the world aware of the mental and physical health issues so that the health
care service will be able to help those people as well (Patel, Robertson and Gallagher, 2017).

The health and social care service is having a lot of values, attitudes and behaviour trails

Reflect upon the methods to gain feedback on your practice
Feedback is considered as important part in education and training. Apart from this they
also consider it on a daily professional basis so that they can improve the problem. It is
considered as an effective tool with the help of this people can know whether they are moving in
the right direction or whether they are going into wrong direction. It is necessary in this field of
healthcare professionals that doctors must get feedback so that they can improve their practice
according to that. Feedback helps in learning in many ways such as experiential or learning. By
feedback a medical professional can improve their experience. It is beneficial and if patients stop
giving feedback to professionals like us then it will be costly and risky. This will give a learner a
confidence that is false and pretentious and doctors like me won't even realize it. All the
experience all the assessment will be false and team of medical professionals will have a wrong
perception all in just one case and that is if doctors don't get feedback. It is necessary to
understand the importance of the feedback. The methods or sources from which they collect

This type of feedback is concerned with the observations of my learner, and he is the one
who gives me the feedback from when I started till the end. They can highlight a specific

of feedback as it helps me to improve and medical is the field where I cannot afford to make any

Pendleton Model-
This model states that the patient will ask the rules of a hospital and ask them if the
practitioner wants a feedback or not. This helps to make an environment safe as it only highlights
the positive factor and prevents the issues of defence. It is considered as an important factor as
they see the weakness and highlight the opportunity. The people who give feedback to me sit
with me and advise me to take these measures to improve, and we mutually agree on that topic.
This is considered to be effective as the main idea is to ask through opt end questions as it gives
me the time to think and respond (Canda, Furman and Canda, 2019).

Practice Theme 1
Law, Ethical practice, Regulation (Glasby,
2017)
While I was practising to be a doctor I learned
that to always follow the law and regulations
with ethics. Now that I am a doctor I follow
every law I take the consent of every patient or
their relatives when the risk is high in the
surgery. I clear them all the possible outcomes
of the surgery in both positive and negative
way. I value every regulation and code of the
conduct of the hospital where I work so that I
can maintain the discipline as a doctor. Ethics
are more important to be more than money. I
never treat a client before the one who has
actually made an appointment as I am taking a
big risk if I am avoiding them and not treating
them right just to add some few bucks which
will be of no use if I let someone die (Noe and
et.al., 2017).
Practice Theme 2
Professional values, attitude and behaviour in
health and practice of social care (McLeskey,
Rosenberg and Westling, 2017)
Just like I said I value and follow every code of
conduct of the hospital. I am never late so that
my patient don't have to wait for long instead I
always try to arrive early before time.
Sometimes I volunteer at the hospital so that I
can help those people who are in need and
cannot afford the treatment so that they can get
better. My attitude towards work is serious as I
don't take any patient or disease lightly. For me
they are the same thing and that is to cure
everyone. Even if they are in for a small
disease or big. I don't treat someone on the
basis of power or money. My ethics tell me

I take initiatives such as free health check up

But I have to convince them so that they can

most important for anyone. No one can think

Health
I take initiatives such as free health check up
for senior citizens. If anyone has any problem
then I will suggest them to don't give up
because they are old or nothing will matter.
But I have to convince them so that they can
take a treatment. It does not matter from who
they get the treatment but as a doctor my only
concern is to get them better (Holden and et.al.,
2015).
Practice Theme 4
Promoting physical and mental health and
well-being in social health care practice
I motivate patients who don't want to take a
treatment. There are many reasons that they
deny for that. Sometimes some of them give up
or some of them are afraid to get a treatment as
if what happens is the operation is not
successful. I assure them and try to do my best
to convince them so that they can get the
treatment and get better because health is the
most important for anyone. No one can think
of anything else freely if they are not well and
suffering from any disease. (Banks, 2016.)

I completed my education from Leicester medical school and there I was taught to
participate or volunteer some work in the social care unit. This is for those people who are
underprivileged and cannot get to afford to get a proper treatment at a certified place. While
committing to that I faced many problems such as convincing the mentally sick people to get into
a therapy. Breaking the stereotype of old people to not get a surgery. Apart from this I arranged
camps and invited people to get free health check up. So that I can encourage more and more
people to get treatment. Health is a serious concern and everyone must think of it that way. Most
people don't keep these issues seriously which creates the problem for them in old age. I used to
