ESSAY
As Andrew has been diagnosed with type 2 mellitus which he was controlling by taking
oral medications and proper diet. Because of the shortage of some staff members, he has been so
engaged in working, because of which he was taking an improper diet. Andrew was also
diagnosed with hypoglycaemia and for that he was taking oral glucose. He was stressed but
cannot work less or can’t get retired as well because all the wages in the family comes from his
side. There are some professional nursing values that nurse can provide him which could help
him. Nursing values can be considered as the ethics that a nurse can provide to Andrew that can
help him in recovering from these issues (Hardicre, 2014). There are 6C’s of nursing that can
give a professional commitment to the persons dealing with some medical issues, as Andrew was
having type 2 mellitus diseases.
These 6C’s consists of care, compassion, competence, communication, courage,
commitment (Howatson-Jones, 2016). The main focus of a nurse is the care that she can provide
to Andrew so that there may be some improvements in his health. Although medicines can help
him but it should be provided efficiently so that it can help Andrew. . Second important factor is
termed as compassion. It means how the care is being provided to Andrew, which means how the
nurse takes care of him by giving him appropriate medicines on time along with some support
and care as well. Third factor represents to the competence which means providing all the
processes that are included in the care providing roles and it must be capable enough for
understanding the health and social requirements of Andrew. It should also focus on delivering
effective care and different type of treatments to him as which can be suitable for Andrew. These
all can help Andrew in an improvised condition, thus he can focus on his work and along with it,
can be able to take proper diet. Communication is equally important as well.
The interaction between Andrew and nurse is very important. It is because if the nurse
will communicate in an efficient way and with respect as well, then Andrew must be able to
share his thoughts and other issues with the nurse he is suffering from. It will help the nurse to
make better evaluations of him and then providing more efficient treatment to Andrew. Another
factor, courage can help the nurse to do the best possible and effective solutions for Andrew. .
Commitment is another important factor and also the final C of the nursing (Bostock - Cox,
2013). It means when a patient is admitted in the hospital, in that case commitment of the
hospital matters. The whole commitment from the hospital can prove more effective in case if
