This Masters of Business Studies (MBS) thesis presents a comparative profitability analysis of commercial banks in Nepal, with a specific focus on Everest Bank Limited (EBL) and Himalayan Bank Limited (HBL). The study investigates the financial performance of these two banks, examining key profitability ratios such as Return on Assets (ROA) and Return on Equity (ROE), alongside other relevant metrics like average net profit per branch and employee, and profit margins. The research employs financial and statistical tools to analyze data, including trend and correlation analyses, and tests various hypotheses related to profitability drivers. The thesis aims to assess the banks' financial health, efficiency, and ability to navigate economic challenges, providing valuable insights for stakeholders and contributing to a better understanding of the banking sector's dynamics in Nepal. The findings, conclusions, and recommendations are presented to offer a comprehensive overview of the comparative profitability of the selected banks.
