Introduction
This reflection report is prepared in order to record all the relevant readings and learning of this
course which has helped in professional as well as personal development. There will also be
made use of the approved case study of Uber where there has been used the project selection
methods in order to complete the selected project in the most effective way. There will be
recorded the entire learning if this course and how they have been useful in enhancing the
knowledge areas as well as in professional development. There will be made a discussion on the
project management knowledge gained throughout the previous learning modules of this course.

Reflection
The project is considered as the unique set of different processes consisting of the controlled as
well as coordinated activities which might have their starting and finishing dates which are
generally undertaken in order to accomplish the objectives of the business. I have understood the
concept of the project and project management. There are several numbers of the processes
associated with the management of the project. I have also got to know that there are different
methodologies used in order to manage the projects. These methodologies include PMBOK,
Scrum as well as PRINCE2. The project management is referred to as the application of the
skills, knowledge, tools as well as the techniques into the activities of the project so that the
requirement of the project can be fulfilled. The concept which I have learned during this course
will be useful for me as a project manager in different situations at my organization as a
professional (Joslin & Müller, 2016).
There was undertaken the Uber New Driver App project which was considered to be very useful
for us in order to understand the use of different project selection methodologies and the
approaches of managing the project. I got to know about the initial process group as well as
project documents which are the part of PMBOK methodologies (Hornstein, 2015).
I have developed my leadership as well during this course in the group assignment where we
were required to work in a team. We made great planning to work in an appropriate manner and I
was able to lead the team with effective leadership skills. There were also identified several
numbers of the problems during such a project as one of our team members got sick due to which
he was not able to work in an appropriate manner. We found some replacements for such
purpose and distributed his work among the existing members. This has helped us in improving
our critical thinking as well as problem-solving skills which will be helpful for us in our
professional development in the future.
There was prepared a budget also regarding the project but there were several variances at the
time of implementing such project. All these problems were solved by us adequately and w
managed all the things accurately. I have developed different management skills during this

course and I have also developed myself professionally as critical thinking skills, problem-
solving skills as well as communication skills were also developed during this project.
Working with the group has helped us in getting to know what teamwork is. It is a very
important concept in order to implement any project. The contribution of every team member is
important for the completion of any project. This can prove to be very useful in the development
of good communication among people (Wysocki, 2014).
During this course, we also developed our understanding of the project management life cycle.
This is considered as the sequence of different processes. These processes are initiation,
planning, executing and launching, monitoring and controlling and at the end closing of the
project. In the initial process of the project, there are several numbers of the documents which
are prepared by the project team and project manager. These documents include the shareholder's
register, project charter, communication plan as well as the meeting schedules. I have got to
know about all these things while learning this course. These concepts are very helpful for me in
the execution of a project. I will be able to handle big projects in my future due to such
knowledge developed from this course. If I talk about the weekly learning, I have learned about
the PMBOK areas which are quality management, human resource management, scope
management, integration management, stakeholder management as well as communications and
risks management.
From the project related to Uber new app development, I got to know that there are several
project selection methods which can be used by the project manager to select the best suitable
method which provides the maximum benefits to the company as well as the client. Some of
these important selection models are Return on Investment, Payback period, internal rate of
return as well as the net present value method. After making these kinds of analysis there can be
reached to the solution that which method is best suitable for the company as well as the client of
the project (Project Management Institute., 2017).
There is also a factor model and cost break-even analysis method in order to select the best
project for the organization. During managing a project, it is very important for the project team
and project manager to apply the principles of project management. During managing a project it
is also necessary to manage the costs as well as the quality of the project. I have understood that

there must not be any compromise with the quality of the project (Saltz & Crowston, 2017). In
order to ensure the quality as well as timely completion of the project; it is necessary to create a
work breakdown structure. It is an important tool to divide the tasks into sub-activities and then
assigning them to different team members as per their knowledge and expertise. All the project
management knowledge areas are given the equal weight age as per their importance within the
process of project management. The processes are the initiation, planning, execution, controlling,
monitoring as well as the closing of the project. These are the most important steps to complete
the project in a timely manner (Hans & Mnkandla, 2017).
In order to manage the costs of the project, there are several numbers of the tools used by the
project manager to minimize the costs. The lean project management methodologies can also be
applied within the project in order to eliminate the wastage of the projects. I have understood
almost every aspect of the project management during this course which is going to be useful for
me in professionally develop me and understanding the relevance of the project management.
I had great experiences during this course and have enhanced my knowledge area in project
management. There are certain numbers of the risks associated with every project. I have got to
know those how such risks must be managed by the project manager without impacting on the
process of project management. In order to manage as well as control the activities of the project,
the comparison is made between the budgeted outputs as well as the actual outputs of the project.
The variances are being solved by making effective steps for the business.
During this course, I have also developed my knowledge regarding the attributes of PMBOK. All
the important aspects of the project can be described in this methodology. All the sessions of this
course were productive and knowledge enhancing for me which are helpful for me in future in
my professional development as the project manager. One of the most essential parts of the
project management processes is the identification of the stakeholders as they are required to be
identified to know about their interest within the project. They are the people who are going to be
impacted by success as well as the failure of the project.

Conclusion
This report has presented a reflection on the learning of this course of project management
principles. There has been explained all the readings regarding this course along with the
important assessments of this course. The concepts of PRINCE2 and PMBOK were also
discussed in order to understand the management of the project in an efficient manner. Different
knowledge areas of project management guided by the PMBOK were also added in this report to
make it easy to understand what are project management and its most important areas. The
discussion of different methods of selecting the project and the initiation documents and process
of the project is also being made in the report so that an understanding regarding the case of Uber
New App development can be created in this report. Project management is the important
concept used by the businesses in order to manage the teams of the project as well as the
deadlines of the project. It ensures the quality project as well as timely completion of the project.
