AI Summary
This project, titled "Implications of Growing Age of People on Health Care Services," investigates the challenges posed by an aging population in England and Wales. The research addresses the implications of an aging population on healthcare demand, the strain on the workforce, and potential government interventions. Utilizing secondary data from sources like the Office of National Statistics, the study employs ICT tools, particularly Microsoft Excel, for data analysis and visualization. Findings reveal a growing number of elderly individuals, particularly women, leading to increased demand for healthcare services and a potential shortage of workforce. The project presents statistical data on population demographics and analyzes trends using mean, mode, standard deviation, and median. Recommendations include developing new care homes, standardizing prices, hiring new candidates, and forming special committees to address workforce shortages. The conclusion emphasizes the need for government action to meet the healthcare needs of the elderly and maintain the quality of life for the aging population.

Project 2
Aim
“To conduct a research on implications of growing age of people on health care
services”. A case research on growing age people of England and Wales
Introduction
Today, one of the most concerning issue that faced by health care association is growing
age of people. The reason behind this is lack of workforce, where under such a condition, due to
increase in demand of health care services, associations seems unable to fulfil the same on time
(Nienkemper and Grotlüschen, 2019). With growing age of people, productivity of them also get
reduces that affect organisation performance in adverse manner. To analyse implications of this
issue, a research is conducted by taking a statistical survey on mid-year population of England
and Wales. As it provides a large sample of data, therefore, ICT tools are used for interpreting
the data and obtain research outcomes accordingly.
Research questions
To conduct a research on such a vast topic i.e. implications of growing age people on
workforce and healthcare services, following questions will be addressed –
What are the possible implications of growing age on demand of healthcare services?
How demand of health care services of ageing people surpass the available workforce?
Which interventions government needs to be adopted for meeting the demand of growing
age population?
Literature Review
To gather secondary information on mentioned research objectives, a number of sources
like published and unpublished articles, journals, government census report etc. can be used
(Xiao, Barnard-Brak, Lan and Burley, 2019). In this regard, within present project, articles are
explored from authentic sources where, many researchers' point of view of summarised in
following way –
Possible implications of growing age on demand of healthcare services
Through the point of view of Anyssa Garza (2016), it has been analysed that today,
number of people who are of age 65 or above, are growing rapidly. It is projected to grow in the
world with an estimation of 5k million in 2010, which may reach to 1.5 billion over till 2050

(The Ageing Population: The Increasing Effects on Health Care, 2016). Therefore, increasing
population of this group demands more for healthcare services, because they are at higher risks
of chronic conditions like heart issues, cancer, arthritis, dementia and more (Carpentieri, 2019).
This would have arisen challenge for health care system to meet demand of aged people for well-
being. It has been determined that number of people having cancer is expected to be increased by
17 million in UK till 2020. Similarly, number of patients of dementia also have been
continuously increasing. Therefore, meeting demand of these people to increase their quality of
life raise issues for care givers, due to shortage of staff and other resources.

Demand of health care services of ageing people surpass the available workforce
As per views of (Le and Palamar, 2019), it has been evaluated that with growing demand
of healthcare services of aged people, shortage of workforce also becomes a major issue in
England and Wales. An increasing population of growing age people having long-term disability
or any chronic conditions, increase their care demand that changes the entire nature of demand. It
has put pressure on healthcare associations to meet the same specifically. It increases health and
care costs and demand to enhance workforce and their accessibility for old aged people, for
improving life-expectancy of them (Rath and Pattanayak, 2019). According to a survey, it has

been estimated that with growing demand of healthcare services, workforce is highly developed
in UK, as shown in below graph. Along with this, as technology also has been developed more,
therefore, high-skilled employees in NHS and other associations are being employed, to meet
demand for improvement of life-expectancy of people in desired way.
(Briefing: Health and Care of Older People in England 2017)
Health care interventions for meeting the demand of growing age people
According to theoretical perceptions of (Ludden and Vallgårda, 2019), it has been
evaluated that due to advances in medical and healthcare services in UK, life expectancy of
people has been increased much from last 20 years (Improving care for older people, 2020). This
would show a good sign of well-being of population but also arise issues for NHS, Government
and other associated authorities, to meet care needs of growing age people. For this purpose,
many interventions have been run like supporting public organisations to work in collaboration
for meeting demand of people; promoting tailored care and personalised care planning to reduce

risk of chronic conditions for old age population, implement best practices like Toolkit for
General Practice to support older people with frailty etc.
Research Methodology
This part is considered as the most essential one, which defines the procedure i.e. going
to be carried out for investigating a report. Under this part, a number of methodologies are
described such as qualitative and quantitative research approaches, primary and secondary data
collection tools etc. that helps in meeting research objectives specifically (Nienkemper and
Grotlüschen, 2019). In context with present project which is based on implications of old-aged
population on healthcare services, secondary sources are used, whereby data is collected and
analysed by using qualitative approaches. But to interpret the result of large sample observations,
ICT tools and techniques are used. It includes Microsoft Excel software, which helps in
representing the quantitative information through number of graphs. This would researchers to
interpret result specifically.
Data analysis
Data analysis is the technique which is used by researcher for the purpose of gathering
reliable and accurate information. This information has huge importance in relation to attainment
of appropriate results which are effective towards building effective decisions. All the gathered
information is used by researcher and reader in determination of future working directions that
leads towards accomplishment of pre determined objectives. In respect to carry analysis in this
report, data is gathered from the office of national statistics, 2015. The main purpose behind
analysis of this data will be ascertainment of answers against to the different research questions.
Gathered information along with ascertained results are presented below in tabular format;

It is determined from the figures presented in above table that old people who belongs to
the age between 90 to 93 are very high in number as compared to the other age people. Whereas,
it is also determined that the people who belongs from the age between 102 to 105 are very few
in number in accordance to the data exist in above table.

Total number of growing age males
Total number of growing age females

It is interpreted from the figures presented in above two tables that the number of females
are more than males that are belongs from the category of old. It is clear from this depiction of
information that females have long life as compared to the other males of society.

Analysis of percentage and ratios in relation to the females by using the data presented in
above table
It is ascertained from the above two tables that both percentage and ratios depicts high
number of old females as compared to men. This means that the role of females in increasing the
ageing population is high in comparison to the men. It is clear from the situation that the need of
health care services will be more in respect to females due to their existence in high number
against to the men.
Findings
This section depicts the findings on the basis of analysed information and results. The
different tools and techniques which are used in this regard includes mean, mode, standard
deviation and median.

It is clearly interpreted from the above chart that old people belongs from the age group
90 to 93 is high and increasing continuously. This increment in number has negative impact
over capacity to provide health care services.
