Case Study
AI Summary
This case study examines the communication plan proposed by the Country Health Department (CHD) for a project involving a database to track diseases. It evaluates the realism of the plan, compares it with project management practices, and recommends improvements, particularly for publicly run projects. The analysis identifies key stakeholders, assesses the communication methods, and emphasizes the importance of government involvement in publicly funded initiatives. The document concludes that effective stakeholder communication is vital for successful project management in public health informatics. Executive summary:
This document aims to elaborate why the collaboration of stakeholders is needed for successful completion
of a project. This document has evaluated how various stages of a project can be impacted by the different
type of stakeholders. In this paper, the case study of the CHD is considered and by evaluating the case
study it is determined that whether the project manager has opted a realistic communication plan for the
project or not. Also, the practice of the project management is implemented in this document and in the
contrast of the practices of the project management communication plan proposed by the project manager
is compared. Also, a separate communication plan is introduced for the projects which run publicly. A
justification is also given on why the proposed plan can be implemented.

3PUBLIC HEALTH INFORMATICS
Introduction:
In the field of communication, the information system is a huge advancement towards the technical
development. This technology of the information system is able to solve problems of various departments
which includes the health sectors also [1]. A specific type of information can be tracked by the information
system based on the needs of the users.
In the given case study, the information system is used by the CHD or by the Country Health
Department to track the information which is related to their prior task. The main problem with the
information system of the CHD is that it cannot be expanded in the future. Understanding this problem the
CHD has initiated some communication plan to mitigate this issue.
This report will evaluate the proposed communication plan of the CHD to understand that whether
it is enough real or not which can be used for communicating with all of the project stakeholders. Following
the evaluation part, a comparison will be done between the case study assessment of the CHD and
practices of the project management. Further, a recommendation plan will be provided for the proposed
communication plan to enhance it more. At the last a conclusion part will summarize the whole project.
CHD Communication Plan:
The aim of the CHD is to develop a project which will contain a database that will store information
about various type of disease [2]. By holding this vast amount of disease record this database will be able to
diseases quickly. Thus by identifying the disease quickly, it can provide the perfect way of treatment of the
identified disease. To successfully complete this project some financial funding is required. The project
manager can arrange this financial funding from the external stakeholders of the project. Full support of
the stakeholders can be achieved by proper communication. For this reason, to get the full support of the
stakeholders, the project manager of the CHD has proposed a communication plan.
In this proposed communication plan first, some major stakeholders are identified. These major
stakeholders include sponsors, government agencies, senior management, clients, sub-contractors,
employees, community and the news media. The communication with the clients will be done through the
telephone, emails and by meetings. The project schedule will decide the time of the communication and
the communication will be done in a formal language with high details [3]. With the clients of the project,
senior management, employees, sponsor and team members of the project will be communicated in the
same way. As this communication method is fulfilling all the basic needs of the communication, it can be
considered enough real which is able to drive the project in the path of the success. Providing the detailed
information about the project is the key way to keep the project stakeholders happy. As more than one
communication medium is selected the disturbance in the communication can be avoided.

4PUBLIC HEALTH INFORMATICS
Suppliers and the subcontractors are omitted from the project as they are not required for the
project. So, communication with these stakeholders is not needed. The other stakeholders which are the
unions, government agencies, news and media and the community are not important such as the clients.
These stakeholders are not important because they are not benefiting the project like the other
stakeholders [4]. The public safety-related information is shared with the government agencies, news
media and with the unions and communities. The public safety-related information is shared with the
above mentioned stakeholders because the internal information is required by those stakeholders. The
details are shared to them whenever they request about it. Thus it is determined that the proposed process
of the communication is real enough for the project success.
Assessed Communication Plan vs. Practices of Project Management:
A good communication plan is one of the main project management practices which is required for
a successful project implementation. This good communication must exist between some individuals who
are related to the project. These individuals are known as the project stakeholders. These stakeholders are
two types. One is the internal stakeholders and another one is the external stakeholders. This project has
successfully identified all of the stakeholders and how this stakeholder is able to benefit the project is
determined [5]. The manager of this project is able to produce the correct communication plan by which all
the stakeholders can be communicated simultaneously. This communication plan is able to handle all the
stakeholder which is an attribute of an ideal project management practice. With that, this project is divided
into some parts which are ideal for a project management practice as perfect planning can be done when
the project is divided into some parts [7].
Recommendation:
For a publicly run project some communication plan can be recommended which are discussed below:
For a publicly run project, the government is a major stakeholder. This is because the permission of
the government is needed before starting any project [6].
The report of the project cost and the benefit must be provided to the government.
The strategic framework needs to create before the project execution as this will help
communicate with other stakeholders perfectly [8].
The above-discussed recommendation needs to follow and implemented properly to help the project
progress. In this case, the government need to be updated about every single update because the
government is the main stakeholder of the publicly run project. As the government actively handle all the
cost operation of the project, a proper communication plan is required for communicating with all the
other stakeholders of the project with the government.

Conclusion:
From the discussion of the above document, it is determined that the project stakeholders play a
vital role in the case of the ideal project management principles. The stakeholders of the project give the
opportunity to the project manager to complete a project successfully. This document has analysed the
case study of the CHD and from the analysis, it is determined whether the proposed communication plan of
the project manager is realistic enough or not. It is determined that the proposed communication plan is
realistic enough for the successful running of the project. Further, the ideal project management practices
are compared with the communication plan for this project. Also, some recommendation is given for the
publicly run projects as it differs from the normal project management. Proper justification is given of the
recommended communication plan.
