The situations are generally perceived as complex where there is unclear, paradoxical situation
having different interpretations. The complex projects are characterized by the ambiguity,
emergent dynamic interfaces as well as influenced by the external and political changes. The
discussion is made on the case study of a climate change issue which is an example of the
wicked problem. Here will be made the discussion on the aspects making the projects
complicated as well as the evaluation of the project management.
Evaluation of project management
There are several outcomes of ICCPM such as the political risks, stakeholders influence, and
interest, Ashby law as well as other factors facilitating the management of the complex projects
as well as the leading theory. These are the necessary aspects in order to make the evaluation of
project management. The project management is considered as the practice of the initiation,
planning, execution, controlling as well as the closing of the work which is completed by the
project team members in order to achieve the project management goals. The stakeholder's
influence can be effective in order to manage the projects having a high complexity in them. The
stakeholders are the people associated with the project. Their single action can influence the
execution of the whole project. The other outcome is the leading theory which can prove to be
helpful in managing the projects in an effective manner. There may be a requirement of
managing the team of the people working on the same complex project and it is necessary to lead
them appropriately (Cooke-Davies, et. al., 2011). The political, as well as the legal factors, also
influence the management of a project as slight changes may cause changes in the process of the
project management.
Aspects of making the project Complex
Aspects Description
Unhelpful behaviour It has been identified that the one factor that
makes the project complicated is the
interaction among human beings facing the

problem of making complex decisions. The
complexity takes place when people having
different cultures, loyalties as well as interests
work together to deliver a project.
Failure to appreciate systemic When the people generally talk about the
projects and their complexity, they are not only
talking about the separate elements in the
project but also how these make interactions.
The behaviour of the project as the complete
system can be called as the project systemicity.
Models Arising out of the models, the symbols are
used that are created, reproduced as well as
transformed by the interactions. Out of such
symbols, there have been created and re-
created the meaning. The meaning, in turn,
directs as well as informs what is needed to be
done.
Simplistic Project Management The complexities can also be raised due to the
assumptions that are inherent in the project
management traditional models. These are
incompatible with the actual practices and the
systems in the environment of the organization
of the specific program and project.
Over- Ambitious Strategic Management There are several numbers of factors which
lead to the enhancement in complexity in the
projects of the businesses and the government.

The projects are governed as well as managed
within the context which is formulated by
governance and management systems of the
promotion and implementation of
organizations (Cooke-Davies, et. al., 2011).
The input of the stakeholders
Stakeholders Input
Government The government has made a great contribution
to the complex project of climate change. They
generally change their behaviours as well as
their investment decisions in order to manage
the projects effectively (Nguyen, et. al., 2015).
Citizens Citizens are the main stakeholders of the
wicked problems like climate change. They get
the most affected from such situations taking
places. There has been made little change in
the behaviour by the citizens as well as
emphasized the efficiency in resource use and
not on structural change.
Corporations The corporations have contributed towards the
innovation as well as the cost-effective ideas in
order to deal with the climate changes.

General aspects of the project
As per the given case study, the science concerning the change in the climate has partly focused
on the viability of the climate conditions and forecasting changes at both the global as well as the
regional scales (Lu, et. al., 2015). It has been identified that both the policy implications and
scientific inquiry process are complex as well as difficult to manage to a great extent. Following
are the general aspects of the project identified:
Issue tracking
Risk Management
Cost Management
Planning of resources
Time tracking
Budgeting of project
Management Practices
The management practices are referred to like the methods as well as innovations of working that
the managers generally use to make improvement in the effectiveness of the systems of work.
There are several common management practices involved in the project which were identified
in last two weeks such as empowering the team, training of the team members, using schemes in
order to improve the quality as well as using several forms of new technologies
Reflection
During the last two weeks, it was a quite good experience to understand the complexity of the
projects. It has been identified that there could be chosen better options for learning about the
complexity of the project. There could be used more specific practices to identify the
stakeholders and their inputs. The practical approaches could be used rather than the theoretical
approaches to understanding such complex concepts.
