After evaluating the assignments and prior reading, from my
experience I can very well understand the differences in the
methodologies of project negotiation, stakeholder engagement and
conflict management. In project negotiation across projects
consisting of variable asset lifecycles and technologies, I learnt that
the project goals should be clearly stated and the goals should run
within the tolerances that have been agreed upon. Information
should be gathered as much as possible. If the project team has a
number of people from different cultures, proper investigation
should be carried out regarding the social conventions. In case the
project asset lifecycle fails to meet the desired deadline, proper
escalation routes should be clarified. I also learnt that the Project
managers should be open to negotiations in case of any
misunderstanding and must always listen to grievances regarding
the asset lifecycle. The proposal also needs to be communicated
openly. In conflict management scenarios, the methods are quite
different from project negotiation. I learnt that the accommodation
phase of it is effective but certain sacrifices have to be made to
reach a shared goal. Avoiding the issue, collaborating, competing
and compromising are other methods of the conflict management
scenario. In the stakeholder engagement methods, I learnt that
primarily there are four methods namely One on one interview,
Semi structured interviews, focus groups and questionnaires. The
experience was interesting as well as educational for me.

management
As per my knowledge, commercial negotiation does require
interpersonal as well as soft skills. Everything is not about
procedures and contracts without any emotion involved.
From my experience, there are tangible drivers and intangible
drivers to motivate the parties who are involved in the process of
negotiation. I learned that tangible drivers such as fiscal impacts,
workload, contractual and organisational issues can facilitate the
negotiation process. Less tangible drivers such as resistance to
change, political alliances and emotional issue can also have an
effect on the negotiation process.

Evaluating
the final
consequence
From my understanding of the subject, I deduced that there are
several reasons (internal as well as external) which are responsible
for project delays. The consequences can range from time overrun,
poor quality of the project, litigation, arbitration and if the problems
persist, then it can also result in the total abandonment of the
project.

After prior reading and from my experience, I can deduce that
management tools such as asana, casual, basecamp, Omni plan and
Todoist can be utilized to manage conflicts and facilitate the
process of resolution of the issues. These tools are perfect for
grouping tasks, managing the workflow of the organisation and
establishes the project hierarchy perfectly to help in conflict
resolutions.
