INTRODUCTION
There are many phases of a project. One of such phase includes monitoring and
controlling. Monitoring is the process in which the project manager observes the activities and
the task which are done by the employees or the team members. Through proper monitoring the
chances for wrong work or any mistakes gets reduced or gets eliminated. The control activity
refers to taking the corrective actions in which the gap between the standard goals and the actual
goal gets reduce. In this the corrective measures taken by the company should be such that the
actual performance gets matches with the standard performance. This report discusses about the
appropriateness about the project, it includes how the overall project gets done, benefits achieved
by the project and the areas where the project went wrong. This report also includes the risks
identified and the measures which the project manager took to surmount those risks.
TASK
Objectives of the project and their achievement
The project for establishing the fast food project has the following objectives:
Establishment of the fast food restaurant: The project major objectives are to establish the fast
food restaurant in which they have to make the whole furnishing and structure of the restaurant.
The project motive was to complete it within 6 months of time period with a budget of 50,000
Euros. The objective for the project is to open up the fast food restaurant which delivers the
healthy and safe foods and drinks to the customer. As the plan is to grow the vegetable at the
backside of their café, the structure for that restaurant should be such that it must left some of the
spaces where the owners can grow the vegetables at the backward of the café.
To promote good diet: The stakeholder observed that there is a huge trend among the customers
for that they have started becoming very much conscious about their diet and health. They have
start avoiding the synthetic ingredients and the food which is not healthy for their health (Anbari,
2018). This restaurant has an objective to promote the health and hygiene food among the
customers. For this they have offered the food and drinks which is totally fresh and very much
healthy for the diet of customers. The objective is to promote the healthy and safe living among
the people.
Gain awareness: The purpose for this restaurant is to gain the awareness in the targeted market.
As the stakeholder has grab this running trend, they have expect that this can gain a lot of
awareness among the targeted customers as the restaurant has promises to provide the serves
which the customers want and somewhere looking for.
Timely competition: The project also has an objective that it needs to get competed on time.
The given time was 6 months within with this project needs to get full complete. All the
activities and the task which were associated with the project get distributed according to the
plan to complete it within 6 months (Archibald and Archibald, 2016).

The project has become very much successful in gaining the following achievements.
Completion of the project: The major achievement which the project has achieved is that the
whole project gets completed at the time given by the stakeholders. The stakeholders want to
build up the whole project within the 6 months of time period. The project manager successfully
has able to complete the project within the provided deadline.
Establishment of fast food restaurant: The project major purpose was to establish or build up
the fast food restaurant for the stakeholders. The project has gained the success by fulfilling the
project objective and that too at time.
Expected or unexpected benefits achieved through this project
The project has given the expected as well as unexpected benefits; some of them are as
follows:
Success: The project was said t o be a successful one. All the activities or the tasks were
performed accordingly to the stakeholders wish. The whole project of building a fast food
restaurant was a totally a success for the project manager. It was an expected achievement by the
project manager, as he was very much particular about his planning and organizing of activities
and resources (Auerbach, Daniels and Urban, 2019). Also he make sure that all the task and
activities are going according to the plan or not which has helped the project in getting it
complete at the right time.
Popularity by customers: The project for building up a fast food restaurant was got very much
popular among the customers. The customers like the whole idea and the space at which the
structure got set up. This has enabled the fast food restaurant in gaining the popularity among the
customers so fast. This was totally an unexpected benefit which was gained through the project.
The structure and the concept which the company came up were so new that with the speed the
restaurant had gained a huge popularity among the customers. This benefit was the most profit
giving benefit for the restaurant owners.
Timely completion: The timely completion for the project was an expected benefit for the
project manager. It was an expected benefit because the project manager was so much careful
and conscious about the timely held of activities and task. The project manager was very much
particular about the time and he made sure that the project needs to get complete within 6 months
of time period (Borkovskaya, 2018). Therefore to complete the project at time, all the activities
were first get scheduled properly and then they gets follow up very strictly by the project
manager and team. This has made their achievement of completing the task at time.
Satisfied stakeholders: As the project got completed with time and proper effectiveness has also
been seen into that, the stakeholders are pretty much satisfied with the project which has been
done yet. This was an expected achievement as the project manager had made sure that all the

needs to the factors which the stakeholders are looking for in this particular project must get
completed.
Did the project stayed in its scope?
The scope which was decided for the project was into the scope only. The entire budget
which get calculated and decided for the project, the whole project has tried to get done into that
decided budget only. The scope here includes:
Budget: The budget which was decided by the project manager or the stakeholder was 50,000
Euro. The scope was already very large and the project manager has to build up the whole fast
food restaurant within this budget only. The project manager has tried his level best to complete
the project within the stated budget (Cooper and Sommer, 2018). He first tried to divide the
activities in group along with the associated cost in performing these activities and then
accordingly the project budget gets set. The budget scope for the project was in accordance with
the plane which was the good thing for the project and the project manager as he manages to
bring it under the stated budget.
Timescale: The timescale for the completion of the project was set 6 months by the project
manager. According to that only the project manager has divided the activities or the tasks
according to the groups or small tasks in which they will be performed in project. The division of
activities had enabled project manager in scheduling the flow of activities or task in order. This
order has helped the project in managing the activities along with the time within which they
need to get done or complete their activities.
Project tolerances: During the planning activities of the project, the risks which the project
needs to get tolerate was also get mentioned and included into that. After analyzing or evaluating
all the risks the project manager came up with the risk register. Risk register is a framework or
the table in which all the certain risk which the project might face during its process gets stated
along with the measures about how to control take a control upon that risk (Darling and Whitty,
2016). The risk register prepared by the project manager has helped the project in achieving the
project tolerances.
Changes in the plan and its effect upon the project
There were few changes made into the original plan and it did have an impact upon the
project. Such changes are as follows:
Schedules of activities: The changes were made into the order in which the project needs to
carry out their activities. The order for the tasks or the activities gets changed due to the
suitability or the preferences of the project. The time table, Work based schedules, Gantt chart,
activity chart, flow chart and the like all needs to get changed due to the changes take place in
activities order (Hwang, Zhu and Tan, 2017). The scheduling of activities was get changed, and
it has impacted upon the original plan which was set by the project manager. The changes into

the activities had lead to the confusion and misunderstanding into the activities which the team
members need to perform in the project.
Ordering of resource: The project manager had made the changes in ordering the quantity of
the resources which might need into performing the task or work or project. The changes in order
of activities have raised a problem of availability of those resources earlier then the scheduled
time. This has created a big havoc into the project manager and his team members. The
unavailability of resource at time has increased the chances for delay into work which also could
have impacted the time schedule of future activities which the company needs to get taken under
account. This particular change into the project has created a sense of urgency among the team
members has they have to put the order and make the required resources available to the project
site so that they can run according to the planning.
Changes in the labor: In between the project the roles and responsibilities which were earlier
got allotted to the members get changed with the change in schedule and situations. Any change
into the roles and responsibilities has created the confusion and conflicts among the team
member which also has impacted the quality of work performance by these members (Kerzner
and Saladis, 2017). The changes in roles and responsibilities somewhere put impact upon the
timely completion of work.
Lessons leant during the project
Every experience adds count to some kind of learning. The same applies wit this project
also. The learning which we can get from this particular project is as follows:
Proper division of role and responsibilities: During the project we have noticed that the
division for roles and responsibilities of the team members were not as clear as it suppose to be
which has creates a lot of confusion and conflicts among the team. These confusion and conflicts
also have affected the kind and quality of work performance by the team members. At some
point it has also leads to the delay in work and decrease in the quality of work. This is a major
lesson which the project manager has learnt from this particular project.
Recommendations: To solve such problems it is very much important for the project
manager to clear all the roles and responsibilities which a team members need to get followed.
This would help the members in performing their work with clear mind and it will also reduce
any kind of conflict among the team members (Martinelli and Milosevic, 2016).
Proper scheduling: The project activities need to get changed in between the project only. This
has impacted the speed for the project work. This is also a particular lesson which we have learnt
from this project. From the proper ordering or time table of activities the uniformity gets
maintained into the same. The improper scheduling or ordering of activities has resulted into the
hassle and bustle into the work of the project.

Recommendations: The order of the activity should get fixed after the proper analyzing
and evaluation of overall project and its related factors. Through this only the flow or the order
would be in order which will result into clear actions and timely competition of task.
Risk evaluation: The risk which would get included during the process of project had already
been evaluated by the project manager, but he did not analyze the scope or the depth for that risk,
which also had created problem in the process for performing the work of project.
Recommendations: The risks need to get evaluated so that corrective actions can be taken
at the right time only.
Risks which could have identified earlier
Risks are of two types, one the certain risk and another are the uncertain risks. Certain
risk is the risk which gets recognized by the company and the corrective actions or measures are
also taken by them to reduce or eliminate those risks. The uncertain risks are the risks which the
company or the project manager does not able to get recognized. These uncertain risks cannot get
identified by the project manager. But the certain risks can get analyzed by the project manager
through proper research. The risk which the project manager could have identified earlier was
the risk for delay in activities due to lack of labor. This is one of the most common risks which a
project goes through (Padalkar and Gopinath, 2016). During the completion of the project faced
the problem of labor strike in which all the labor who were working in the project site had
stopped their work and went on a strike. This has caused the project some delay of the work
which it needs to get cope up earlier at any cost. If this risk or the problem identifies earlier by
any team member or project manager then they could have taken the measure actions or the steps
so that they can reduce the effect or eliminate the cause.
CONCLUSION
The report which is presented above, has mentioned about the achievements of objectives
which the project has achieved. Some of these achievements includes establishment of fast food,
competition of project, timescale and so on. The project plan has gone through various changes
which includes scheduling of activities, changes into the roles and responsibilities of labor,
changes in the quantity or order time table of resources and so on. It also has been noticed that
the project got remain into the scope, here scope includes the budget, timescale and project
tolerance, the project was completed under all that.
