Background of the case project:
This project report revolves around new project taken by Tata group which is largest vehicle
manufacturing company after Tesco. Company has taken many projects like discovering electric
vehicles, automated bikes and XUVs, innovative safety features in four wheelers and many
more. This time company has decided to build new plant or factory for producing more vehicles
and meet the demand of the market. Tata come with up with two alternatives either to buy
assembled parts or to manufacture itself at its own plant. First option was draw back by the
company for the reason of not compromise with its benchmarked quality and expensive project
while looking at long run of the business. Thus this case project is based on manufacturing new
production plant by Tata group.
Describe and discuss relevant quality standards and their role in
effective project management
Quality standards have their own role in assessing deliverable projects. This standard provides
the requirements for the following requirements: Quality management system requirements:
A) It needs to be confirmed that it has the ability to provide products and services that meet
customer requirements and enforce the requirements of laws and regulations.
B) Through the effective application of the system, including the process of continuous
improvement of the system, and requirements to meet customer requirements and applicable
laws and regulations (Badiru, 2018),
The objective is to increase customer satisfaction; all requirements specified in this standard are
universal and are intended to be applicable to different types of organizations, different sizes, and
the provision of different products and services.
Quality Management System and its process:
The organization shall establish, implement, maintain and continuously improve the quality
management system, including the process and interaction required by the quality management
system, in accordance with the requirements of this standard (Abdi, Taghipour and Khamooshi,

2018). The organization must fully determine the process required by the quality management
system and its application to the organization, and it should:
A) Determine the required inputs and expected outputs for these processes.
B) Determine the order and interaction of these processes.
C) Identify and apply the necessary guidelines and methods (including monitoring, measurement
and related performance indicators) to ensure effective operation and control of these processes.
D) Determining the resources required to achieve these processes and ensure their availability.
E) Represents the responsibility and authority of these processes (Jaafar and Yusof, 2019).
F) Evaluate these processes and implement the necessary changes to ensure the expected results
of these processes.
G) Improvement in process and quality management system.
Role of quality standards in effective project management:
Quality management system is a world-accepted form of quality management system that
envisages increasing customer satisfaction by meeting customer expectations, requirements and
regulatory requirements. It sets out the terms of the quality management system at many points,
from internal audit to product design, from procurement to sales, from the organizational
structure of the organization to its customer satisfaction level, from the analysis of collected data
to the effective management of processes (Abdi, Taghipour and Khamooshi, 2018).
The objective of this standard is to reduce, eliminate, and more important errors and defects. The
standard is not directly related to product and service quality, but to the quality of the
management system. The basic assumption is that if an effective quality management system is
established and implemented, quality products and services will be produced to meet customer
needs.
The quality plan of the project should determine the quality standards of the project and
determine how the project is making quality plans and arrangements while these items are meant
to achieve the quality standards. The quality plan of the project is one of the outcomes of quality

planning. As long as it sets these standards, procedures and quality standards associated with the
project, to whom and what resources should be used. The result of the project's quality plan

can fulfill its commitment to meet a variety of project requirements. It consists in the decision
making of all management functions of the various activities of the quality system, quality of
work and strategy, objectives and responsibilities, and of such quality planning, quality
assurance and quality improvement and other means to carry out these activities through the

outcomes (Zhang, Wu and Li, 2018).

their role in addressing project management challenges
Conflict is an everyday reality in our organizations, communities and around the world. We
believe that confrontation can provide an opportunity for positive change if managed well or
changed. Company must have conflict because it is positive when managed properly. A negative
reaction to the conflict may either be pushed away or have an undesirable outcome. To move
forward, we must deal with conflict appropriately otherwise we will end up with more losing
results. The activities in this lesson are intended to provide students with examples of conflict
and tools to practice their reactions (Reddy, Ranjan and Baka, 2017).
There’s no particular method to solve conflict within organization but there are stages for solving
conflict within organizations; these stages are discussed below:
The first stage is divided into two phases:
First phase: Accumulation and spread of contradictions In the system of interpersonal and group
relations due to the parties' approach to interests, differences and conflict, but the contradictions
have not yet gone beyond latent manifestations (Nicholas and Steyn, 2017).
Second phase: An event that begins with an incident that triggers conflicting parties. In this
phase, the opposing parties feel contrary to their interests, goals and values. In the second phase,
conflict leaves the latent state in the open and is expressed in various forms of conflict behavior.
Second Stage:
The second stage of conflict is the main; its characteristic is to directly or indirectly block the
achievement of conflict behavior, that is, by the opposing side of its goals, interests, etc. To enter
this stage, it is necessary to understand not only the interests of one party but the interests of the

this stage, conflict of interest takes the form of sharp disagreements, which individuals and
groups not only want to resolve, but also deepening, aggression, and hostility in the emotional
sphere. At the same level, a turning point in the mood of the parties that leads to the conflict is
revaluation of values. Reviewing the positions of the parties begins. Searching for a possible
solution to the problem, that is, it is also a phase (Nicholas and Steyn, 2017).
Third stage:
If a method is found to resolve the contradictions, then the third stage begins: Conflict resolution
is done through a change of objective status and a subjective, psychological reorganization of the
parties to the conflict. Full resolution of the conflict means ending the conflict on an objective
and subjective level, in which case the "image of the enemy" is changed to the "image of the
partner" and attitudes towards conflict are changed by focusing on cooperation. With partial
resolution of conflict, only external conflict behavior changes, but the internal approach to
conflict is preserved, so it is no less important (Nicholas and Steyn, 2017).
At this stage, efforts are ultimately made to eliminate contradictions in the interests and goals of
the parties, eliminate socio-psychological tension, and cease conflict in the group. Settlement of

Stages can be long or short, they can be moved, and conflict resolution can occur in both the first
and second stages - it all depends on the specific situations of the conflict.

Role of conflict management practice in addressing project management challenges

3. Conflict over technical options and performance tradeoffs: There can be risk of rise in
conflict due to disagreements over the technical issues like which tender is to be accepted;
which technique needs to work with for the available project and so on. The other reasons
behind rising in conflict while handling project of construction of new plant by Tata group
might be performance specifications and tradeoffs.
4. Conflict over man power resources: Every project is composition of various tasks and
activities and each assignment requires labor force; financial manager make sure to complete
the project at minimum cost; so he recruits less workers for handling project. This becomes
challenges for project managers to complete the assign task in limited time period and thus
conflict rises.
5. Conflict over cost: Every task is assigned with specified task; but any variance in these
budgets could raise the conflict within project team.
Conflict management techniques adopted by Tata group to solve these challenges are discussed
below:
1) Retreat / keep away: Retreat from an actual or potential collision situation; Referring to the
issue being more prepared or disposed of by others.
2) Smooth / obliged: Accent areas of understanding instead of contrast zones; to surrender one's
position conforms to the needs of others and to have a connection.
3) Compromise / Adjust: Seeking a system that meets certain levels at all levels so that
coincidentally or mostly disputes can be resolved. Sometimes this practice becomes a puzzle.

4) Force / Direct: To push an attitude towards hatred towards others; only the offer of a win-loss
arrangement, usually retained through a force situation to determine a crisis. There is a lack of
regular success with this method.
5) Support / resolve the issue: Enticing multiple perspectives and experiences from opposite
sides; a supportive conduct and open exchange usually indicating agreement and responsibility is
required. This methodology can bring a win-win situation.
CONCLUSION
Thus, after completion of this case project report, it can be concluded that; project is defined as
"a temporary effort with a beginning and an end" and must be used to create a unique product,
service, or result ". In addition, it is progressively expanded. This definition of project means that
projects are activities that cannot go on indefinitely and should have a set purpose.
