Project governance is the key elements that is required to make a project successful. It is

comprises of crucial factors that are important. The crucial factors are the framework, roles
and responsibilities correlated to the project and details associated to the stakeholders. The

Introduction
Project governance is related with the overall function of the project. Recently it is
seen that the demand for project governance is increasing rapidly. After the occurrence of the
scandals such as the ENRON scandal, Tyco International and WorldCom, all this
organization did not have proper project governance and suffered tremendous loss (Muller
2017). After noticing the effects of the scandals, a bill was passed named as the Sarbanes-
Oxley Act. The bill itself is an ideal example illustrating the part of project governance in
project and the need for the implementation of the project governance. Governance provides
rules, regulations, and overall guidelines that are necessary for the project. The paper
elaborates about the role that project governance plays in the project and the advantage of its
implementation on the project. The project governance helps in the development of the
project. Project governance is the recipe, which is required by the project manager to
accomplish the project properly. Project governance helps in making of the team structure
including all the qualities required for a good team (Too and Weaver 2014.).The paper
discusses the need of project governance, its implementation, its relationship and the way it
makes the project transparent enough for the communication process.
Project Governance and its Benefits
Project governance supports in managing the project. The process of implementation
of the project governance is difficult. Project governance helps in effective communication
with the stakeholders. It is observed that if the project governance is not implemented
properly, then the misuse of many resources, and the funding made by the stakeholders are
drained (Biesenthal and Wilden 2014). Project governance comprises of the project life
series. Project governance helps the project managers in many ways. Project management
process are filtered with the project governance. Project governance helps in creating a single

Program and project management are helped with project governance. The foundation is laid
down with the help of the project governance helps in making the structure of the team, helps
in decision-making models. It helps in execution and monitoring of the process involved in
the project management. Project governance plays an important role because absence of it
will lead in unsuccessful delivery and stakeholders will be dissatisfied. Project governance is
known to have its own standards that are implemented upon the organizational process.
Components of Project Governance
The project governance comprises of eight different components. The eight different
components can be related with the real world. The first component is the governance
models. Applying the right governance model is not a simple task it requires many
precautions. The project governance is structured on the experience of the organization that
helps in improving the scope of the project, complexity and improves the risks associated
with the project (Badewi 2016). The framework helps in determining the necessary
components required for the project. The second component is accountability and
responsibilities. The accountability will have impact on the project. The project governance
helps in informing about the required project deliverables. The third component is attracting
the stakeholders towards the project. Before the plan is executed the project ecosystem need
to be explored (Kerzner and Kerzner 2017). The management team of the project need to
understand the requirement of the stakeholders and identify their expectations and interests. It
also helps the stakeholders in communicating in a transparent manner. The fourth component
is related with the communication of the stakeholders. After the selection of the stakeholders

the interests and the expectations of the stakeholders is determined. The communication
among the stakeholders need to be transparent which delivers information efficiently. The
project manager need to maintain the balance between the works. The fifth component is

be to the point. The sixth component is related to the management of the risk and issues
related to it. The seventh component is related to assurance. The project assurance plays a
vital role. The assurance helps in maintaining the risk related issues effectively. The main
component of assurance is the visibility, which helps in identifying the performance of the
project (Müller and Martinsuo 2015). The last component is the management of the project
and related to methods that can control the process. This component is one simplest one at the
same time, it is difficult to execute this component. The component is difficult to execute as
the process of checks and balances are ongoing. This component is not based on a single
assessment. The component is based on the daily assessment.
Necessary Requirements for the Formation of Project Governance
The characteristics of all the projects differ from each other. The characteristics
includes different roles that are important for establishing, maintaining and for applying the
project correctly. All the roles helps in viewing the project from a different perspective. The
project requires sponsor so that investment can be made in a huge amount. Establishment of a
steering committee is required. The project needs to have a project manager and a proper
project management office (Oakes 2016). The project governance is based on three different
aspects. It follows the pattern of create, establish and networking. The create concept helps
in identifying a suitable location for the management of the project. Establishment helps in
practicing in the best possible ways. The networking create a platform were logics and ideas
can be shared. It is observed that the stronger the project governance the more is the
efficiency of the project. The sponsors’ first studies the brief about the project, the steering

committee helps in determine the goals related to the project. It also provides the
transparency for the communication process (Pinto 2014). The project managers helps in the
implementation of the project. It also supports in understanding the customers’ requirements

the scope for the meetings, the gates and the risk associated to the project.
Project Governance Important for the Success of the Project
The establishing of the project governance is not an important task. Project
governance requires investment of lots of money. It defines the structural roles that need to be
performed within the project. Project governance benefits in identifying the issues related to
the project and the ways it affects the project. It also provides with solution that are required
for solving the issues. The governance comprises of a framework that provides important
instructions on the ways that are required to deal with the issues (Müller, Pemsel and Shao
2015). The governance of the projects ensures that the project contains all the required
information. It also states the main points and the contact that need to be addressed. The
governance provides appropriate direction to the project and helps in the decision making
development. It helps the project team in delivering the required projects on time and helps to
maintain the quality of the product. The project governance is a type of support that helps in
gathering the required information. It provides a framework that is transparent in nature and
helps in communicating with the stakeholders (Hjelmbrekke, Lædre and Lohne 2014). The
project governance plays a major part in the success of the project as it provides a more
continuous, standard and transparent form of report. Therefore, it helps in updating the

Sydow 2016). The role of the governance is same in every field only few changes are
required that can help in well structuring of the project. Governance helps in allocating
different tasks and controlling the necessary activities in a discipline manner required for the
project. Governance of the project comprises of different parts. The project governance
consists of all the three parts. The parts are the portfolio, the project and the program
management. It provides the set up for the project, so that the projects is incorporated in a
correct manner. However, project governance helps in selecting, applying and evaluating the
portfolio, the project and the project management. The governance has an impact on the
connection between the PMM and the achievement of the project. Project Governance acts as
a mediator variable element in the project. Governance is introduced in the project from a
viewpoint of creating an organization (Müller et al., 2016).
Key Factors and its Impact on the Project Governance
The project governance plan need to be consistent and need to fulfil the requirement
of the organization. There are number of factors that influence the working the project. The
main steps and the objective of the project focusses on customer approval and the influence
of the product in the market (Guo et al., 2014). The main impact is related to the customers.
The customer landscape is a part of initial steps. The customer part covers the complexity
related to the business objectives, the key to attract the stakeholder toward the project and
understanding the relationship of the end users. Another impact is related to the productivity
and ways to gain the overall success. The project managers need to know the outcomes of the

properly (ul Musawir 2017). The project governance helps in creating an environment
favourable for the customers. The project governance helps the managers in understanding
the importance of team work and time management. The project governance absence leads to
a situation that eventually causes the deterioration and loss to the project. The product
quality, productivity and complexity all the factors are improved with the help of project
governance.
Conclusion
The implementation of the project governance in the project is a difficult task. There
are different definitions considering the project planning and the way it helps in the project
after its implementation. Investment need to be made when project governance is
implemented upon a new project. The project governance comprises of some of the key
benefits. The key benefits are single point of accountability, roles, responsibilities,
relationship with the stakeholders, management of the issues, its resolution and involving
transparent communication process (Joslin and Müller 2015). The governance offers a
framework that provides the necessary instructions related to resolving of the issues. It is
concluded that project governance acts as a vehicle for gathering all the data and reports that
are require by the stakeholders. The framework of the project governance states that all the
processes are updated and executed properly. Project governance is helpful for the managers
of the project in providing requirements and creating a particular team for resolving all the
issues. Project governance not only identifies the issues it also provide the mechanism in
