unique product, which transforms the way they usually function. On the other hand,
the manufacturing team wants a straightforward and simple product without any
complications. Whereas the marketing team wants an innovative product that will
attract the customers. Conflicts thus, arise even before the beginning of the project.
2. Change in scope- During the progress of the project, change in scope evokes a trouble
in the team. For example: A manufacturing unit has started to work on a project to
manufacture smart phones with android software. The team has planned the design of
the project. After 6 months from the start of the project, the management team decides
to change the software from android to Windows. The design team is likely to
vehemently disagree giving rise to major conflicts between the designing team and the
management.
3. Project management style- The various project management styles of the project
managers can trigger problems. A process-oriented and disciplined manager will not
be getting along with the creative team very easily. For example: If a creative team is
making a TV advertisement for a brand, they will use innovate new ideas to
incorporate the project whereas the strict the manger will not allow the team to go
beyond the project structure and guideline. Thus, conflict is bound to arise between
the team and the manager (Kerzner & Kerzner, 2017).
The different possible solutions are –
1. Preparation: Conflicts might be lead to ugly endings. Constructive and healthy fights
are an essential feature of highly productive teams. The team members should respect
each other’s opinion and maturely handle the dispute. Resolving the problem requires
a preparation. Acknowledging the conflict and discussing the impacts on the project
and the team would help to resolve the problem.

2. Understand the situation: The next step of resolving a problem is to understand the
root of the problem and point of view of every team member. It is essential to listen to
everyone’s problem, address the issue and ensure concern in order to curb down the
heated up situation.
3. Reach an agreement: When both the parties listen to each other’s proposals and major
concerns, they should understand the consequences of such an issue and come to a
mid way in order to resolve the problem (Kerzner & Kerzner, 2017). If an agreement
is not reached at that moment, then it is necessary to make sure that both the parties
will resolve and begin the task in a day’s time. Acknowledgement by the project
manager is essential in order to understand the contributions of the team members in
resolving the problem and executing the project.
The team leaders are expected to listen, understand and comprehend the situation keeping the
focus on solutions while respecting everyone’s opinion.
Conclusion
Thus, it can be concluded that various leadership qualities are necessary to be a project
manager. It can also be concluded that the team members, team managers and other
employees face various problems and conflict during the tasks. They find several ways to
resolve the issues in order to deliver the task effectively and fulfill the goals of the
organization.
