The aim of this report is to throw light on the aspects related to the behavior of the project
manager and the crucial role that can be played by the project manager for analyzing the present
environment. This report explains the facts related to the organizational zoo model and how it
can be effectively utilized for allowing the project manager to be success in the certain field and

Introduction
The purpose of this project is to emphasize on the aspects of the leadership and
management those are considerable factor for the delivery of the project. An analysis has been
presented on the case study and many lagging factors were identified in the behavior of the
project that led to many issues. This report explains how crucial can be the part of the project
manager in the delivery of a successful project through analyzing different circumstances of the
project. Since, the previous project manager, left the project in the middle of the execution, the
new project manager had to consider various aspects related to the status of the project and the
need of the modifications those are necessary for the successful deployment of the office Fitouts
project. This report proposes the cost and schedule variance calculation those are necessary for
the identification of the facts associated with the flow of the project and how proper and
improper leadership can influence the entire project.
Cost Variance and Schedule Variance
BAC (Budget at Completion) of the entire fitout project = $ 1,200,000
Planned completion of the project = average of the completion of four floors:
= (100 % + 50 % + 50 % + 0 %) / 4
= 50 %
Actual cost = $ 675,000
Actual completion of the project can be calculated as average of the completion of four floors till
the date:

= (75 % + 25 % + 25 % + 0 %) / 4
= 31.25 %
Planned Value of the project
= Planned Completion (%) * BAC
= 50 % X 1,200,000 = $ 600,000
Earned Value of the Project
= Actual Completion (%) * BAC
= 31.25 % X 1,200,000 = $ 375,000
Cost Variance = Earned Value of the Project - Actual cost
= $ 375,000 – $ 675,000
= - $ 300,000
Schedule Variance = Earned Value – Planned Value
= $ 375,000 – $ 600,000
= - $ 225,000
Interpretation: Since the cost variance values is negative, this states that the project is still
undergoing within the budget on the other hand negative value of the schedule variance depicts
project is not in the track of the completion within the expected time and it is also lagging despite
of fast delivery of the top floor completion (50%). Thus, the manager should take this variable
into the consideration and implement proper strategies those could be utilized for the

management of the schedule of the project. The deflection in the timeline of the project states
that the manager needs to implement the strategies those are considerable fact for the managing
the ongoing project. The set milestone should be reviewed again considering the evaluation
strategy that can allow the new manger to take over the project and propose the strategies as per
the current growth and development of the project.

The additional information those needs to be included in the project status report includes
executive overview in which the manager can introduce the project identifiers. The project
identifiers will be helpful in estimating the sectors those are necessary for the identification of
the sectors those need the consideration of the project manager in manner to identify the possible
strategies those could be utilized for the improvement of the consistency in the project
deliverables or managing the current rate of the growth and development of the project (Kerzner
and Kerzner 2017). The project summary should also be introduced to the project status report
emphasizing on the demonstration of the overall project completed and how much the growth of
the report has been recorded till the date. The project status report should separately include the
deliverables and the milestones those are necessary for the successful accomplishment of the
project. This section should include the current percentage of the work completed, list of the
dates and activities those have been scheduled during the project planning including the start date
and the finish date. There should also be two more sections for the actual start date and the actual
finish date in manner to determining the over headings and the lagging in the timeline for the
growth and development of the project (Booud et al. 2014). Third sections should be describing
the issues, identified or those could possibly occur in future and the management processes those
could be utilized for the growth and development of the project. The last phase of the project

status report should be demonstrating the task schedule for the last week, completed task during
that time, and the tasks those have been scheduled to the next weeks.
Leadership Behavior
The observation from the case study, it is very clear that the behavior and professionalism
of the previous project manager was not appropriate for the delivery of the project (Meredith et
al. 2016). Project manager or a leader should have the personality to be polite and listen to others
for decision-making however, he ignored the objective related to the communication of listening
(Joseph et al. 2018).
Organizational Zoo Model
The identified behavior of the previous project manager was completely different or
opposite from the behavior proposed by this model. As this model suggests reflect, plan, do, and
observe as the most crucial factor for winning the debate or conversation with other individuals.
This model suggests that a leader should analyze the different course of the action and broad
concept for the course of action while making conversation with an individual. This approach
causes members to preselect the practices are the most suitable to accomplish the coveted results
of every discussion at each stage (Tyrner 2016). This features the reason for every discussion and
develops member's reasoning before the association, subsequently enhancing the odds of
accomplishment. Currently captivating with associates in Conversations that Matter at each

they does not raised this concept in front of the project executives. The project manager should

Conclusion and recommendations
Based on the above facts, it can be concluded that the previous project that manager was
lagging in many aspects and that led to certain point that can be a difficulty for new project
manager to bring back the project on the track. The above report presents the cost and schedule
variance that stated how the project was effected in the sense of the timeline because of the
improper communication and leadership of the project manager. However, it can be
recommended that hiring a project manager that passes the tests of the organizational zoo can be
better suited for the project delivery and accomplishment of the objectives and outputs of the
project.
