PROJECT LEADERSHIP
TASK I
Organizational Culture
Organizational culture that is typically found in government department and agencies is the clan
culture. In case of clan culture, an inherited work culture is present in the organization. Employees of the
organization consider themselves as members of the organization. Employees of the organization enacts
as family members which increases the work rate of the organization and working environment is
positively maintained (Bolman & Deal, 2017). Leaders of the organization acts as mentors to the
employees who are new to the organization. Employees and leaders of the organization believes in the
processing of team work over individual brilliance of the team members. Clan culture does not believes in
competition between internal stakeholders of the organization. The major reasons of avoiding competition
in between internal stakeholders is that this organizational model do not want to introduce competition
among the employees of the organization (Kim & Yoon, 2015). The major issue of this model is that
productivity of this organizational culture is less. This culture focuses on long term goals as it mainly
focuses in creating proper bonding between employees of the organization. Clan culture promotes
participation, team spirit and consensus.
Approaching style
Due to the fact that I have been newly appointed by the organization to replace another project
manager who was very liked in the organization due to his retirement, I need to get well accustomed with
the employees present in the organization (Brinker & Marcolina, 2016). Getting familiar with the
employees of the organization leads to the fact that employees can communicate properly without
hesitating. I would like to deploy waterfall model strategies in order to approach my new team. This
strategic methodology is chosen over other methods because this method considers that tasks that are
needed to be completed are interdependent on their previous tasks (Patwardhan et al., 2016). This
approach also helps in maintaining a structured order which helps in completion of the task in proper
order.
Meeting preparation
For conducting a proper meeting with the existing employees of a government organization, I
must be well prepared with the policies and norms of the organization. As I will be hired as new project
manager, questions regarding rules and norms of the organization can be asked for better clarification of
the employees. A brief introductory session will be taken by me in order to know each employee by
person, so I need to prepare myself for conducting this session. I need to gain knowledge regarding the
ongoing project as questions can be asked by the employees of the organization. I need to prepare a
project plan as I need to inform the employees’ proper ways to proceed with the project.
Meeting facilitation
Facilities that must be provided in order to make the meeting successful is that the proper
arrangement must be made in order to conduct the meeting. Arrangement of food for the employees of the
organization is one of the most important factors of the meeting as employees will be attaining the
meeting for prolong period. Another most important step is that mike facility must be arranged as there
are huge numbers of employees in the organization and addressing each and every employee will require
proper voice conduction in order to be audible to the entire audience.
