management of project to properly accomplish any project. Additionally, this methodology

all particular processed and projects.
This methodology comprises of a major role or impact within project management.

Differences
There are various popular and noteworthy project management methodologies that are
responsible for helping the managers of project to execute that specific project without any

methodologies are Waterfall, PRINCE2, Agile and many others.
The proper comparison between the methodologies of PRINCE2 as well as waterfall
is provided below:
i) Projects in Controllable Environment or PRINCE2 is one of the structured
methodologies, which is solely responsible for emphasizing on project division to
manageable and controllable stages.
The methodology of waterfall is a sequential as well as linear design approach of
project management that is used for the engineering designs (Kerzner, 2018). For the purpose
of software development, the methodology of waterfall has the tendency of being within the
less flexible, scalable and iterative approaches as the overall project progress flows from top
to bottom direction.
ii) The methodology of PRINCE2 consists of five distinctive phases that are mainly
project initiation, project planning or direction, proper control of the stages, managing the
stage boundaries and managing the delivery of products and the last stage is project closure.
The methodology of Waterfall consists of six distinctive phases that are requirements
analysis, project designing, software implementation, software testing, software installation

Identification of the Waterfall and PRINCE2 in Project Life Cycle or PLC
The methodology of waterfall can be defined as the complete process, which is
mainly divided in six distinctive stages and for the sequence based approach, this particular
approach of project management is known as the linear sequential life cycle model. These six
basic sages of the waterfall methodology are given below:
i) Analysis of Requirements: The first and the foremost phase of the waterfall model
is the proper analysis of requirements (Beringer, Jonas & Kock, 2013). In this particular
stage, each and every requirement of project is being checked with utmost care.
ii) Designing of Project: The second phase of this particular methodology of waterfall
is project designing. The respective project manager is majorly responsible for the activity of
project designing.
iii) Software Implementation: The next subsequent phase of waterfall methodology is
software implementation, where the software is being implemented.
iv) Software Testing: In the fourth stage of waterfall methodology, the software is
being tested and the respective defects are being debugged.
v) Software Installation: The fifth phase of this waterfall methodology is the software

vi) Project Maintenance: The project maintenance is the final stage of the waterfall
methodology, where the project is properly maintained.
PRINCE2 methodology consists of five distinctive phases and these are given below:

initiation. Within this particular stage, the respective project starts.
ii) Project Planning: In this stage of project planning, the entire plan of the project is

project stages are being controlled.
iv) Stages Management: Within this specific phase of PRINCE2, the several project
stages are managed.
v) Projects’ Closure: The respective final stage of PRINCE2 is the project closure
and maintenance.
