Critical Analysis and Project Plan: Bucks Student Union Music Festival

This project management assignment focuses on the planning and execution of a music festival at Bucks Student Union. It begins with an introduction to project management principles, followed by a critical evaluation of three project management methodologies: Agile, PRINCE2, and Scrum, recommending one for the project. INTRODUCTION
Project management is the process of planning or organizing an activity for some specific
purpose. Organization using some set of resources, tools & techniques to accomplish the project
aim as well. Every task consists some basic level of activities like planning, initiation, execution,
monitoring and closing the project. Present project is based on “Bucks students Union Music
Festival”. In order to complete this task. Researcher will be using project management
techniques, critical path network etc. Assignment will also outline the project management
methodologies out of which recommend one for the present task. Also study will analysis the
stakeholder matrix to evaluate the internal or external stakeholder and their interest or power on
project.

Agile Project Management
It is the interactive approach to managing software development projects that focuses on
continuous incorporating customer feedback with every interaction (Chung and Crawford, 2016).
In other words, this is the technique of project which can be performed through different parts
with stakeholders. There are four main values are consists in agile management such as
individuals and interaction over processes and tools and also working software over
comprehensive documentation and constant change over plans. Along with the things which
makes the process more effectively prepared and make the things more understandable. Agile
Project management is an iterative and incremental approach to delivering requirement
throughout the project life cycle (Chung, and Crawford, 2016).
Advantage
 This is the quicker software to perform project management.
 This methodology waste fewer resources as compare to other methodologies.
 With the help of agile software project manager can detect or fix the issues in quicker
way.
Disadvantage
 It would be difficult with agile to measure progress.
 Agile needs more time and energy from everyone the reason behind that it constantly
interact with each other.

PRINCE 2
PRINCE 2 is the process based approach that focuses on organisation and control over
the entire project. From start to finish (Cuppen, 2016). That means projects are thoroughly
planned before kick-off. This is the another influencing method other than agile methodology
because it largely recognised method adopted by project managers.
Advantage
 PRINCE 2 methodologies results can be predictable by project manager.
 Utilising best practices with the projects which lead the business more energetic and
skilful task.
 This is more time and cost effective technique than agile.
Disadvantage
 Infrequently PRINCE 2 become improper for the title tasks where the prerequisites are
relied to change.
Scrum Project Methodology
Scrum is an agile project management methodology which has been used for primarily
for software development projects with the goal of delivering new software capability (Eskerod
and Jepsen, 2016). This is the widely used services in which every things will be covered in
following areas.
Advantage
 It is the high productivity effective growth matters.
 Better quality products (Yang and et.al., 2019).
 It has better team dynamics along with given productive outcomes.

like audience, sponsors, organizers, Volunteers, Public etc,. Engagement of all such stakeholders
are important to be considered.
Communication strategies for stakeholders
To make all stakeholders happy and satisfied. It is very necessary for project holder to
communicate all plans and information to stakeholder (Meredith, Mantel Jr, and Shafer, 2017).
This work can be done through different manner such as send the whole project outline for the
approval from stakeholders or take involvement of stakeholder in planning process or also share
success with stakeholders to gain advantageous.
