INTRODUCTION
Project management is define as the practice of leading the work of a team to attain
goals and met the success criteria as well. The project report is based upon the Carphone
warehouse who want to introduce new software that helps to expand the business. For that
report will outlining the benefits and describe the project’s scope as well. Further, report will
explain the changes that were made to complete the project and also summaries the lesson
learnt during the project. Lastly, it describe the risk which were identified during the project
with the preventive ways as well.
Objectives of the project
The project main aim is to introduce the new software that will help to expand the
business and also grab attention of many customers towards it. Also, in the era of
digitalization, customers need innovative product, while employees need that new software
will help to reduce workload and manages the time (Meredith, Mantel Jr and Shafer, 2017).
As the project objectives are also met by applying PRINCE2 methodology which in turn
help the company to divide the task into each other with a specified roles and own
capabilities. This, clearly stated that the project is executed and managed in well manner for
future development.
On the other side, with the implementation of this new project into Carphone
Warehouse, it is analyzed that it will help the company to grow and increase company’s
profitability as well. In addition to this, coming with new innovative idea will help the
business to add value to the business and reduce the wastage of time as well (Dorri and et.al.,
2017). As per the employee’s perspective with introducing new idea and innovative product
will help to manage the risk and control the quality as well. Hence, these objectives are also
help the company to increase the customer base and this directly help to increase the
company’s profitability as well.
Outlining the benefits which have been achieved
From this project and introducing new software for Carphone Warehouse, it is
examine that the biggest benefits is getting a knowledge of new and advance software system
which in turn assist to increase the efficiency and performance of the company. Moreover, it
is also analyzed that this new software help the company to get more contracts and this will
assist to increase the customer base and increase profitability as well (Lacity and Willcocks,
2017). Therefore, it can be stated that through this project, project manager create awareness

among all the Carphone Warehouse to focus on this because it will assist to manage the work
and further increase the overall profitability as well.
In addition to this, through the new software, company also measure the quality and
this in turn assist to increase the efficiency of the firm and determine the loopholes that cause
negative impact upon the project success. Also, it is stated that another benefit from this
project is to satisfy the need of customers by introducing new product using advance
technology. It is stated that, when this project is successfully implemented then it will assist
to increase the customer base and company is also able to generate more deals and contract
which in turn assist to increase the financial position of the company (Raguseo, 2018). These
benefits clearly realized that investing in this project is beneficial for the firm and also able to
meet the company aim and objectives as well.
Did the project stay within its original scope
Yes, the project stay within its original scope because during the execution stage,
PRINCE2 Methodology is implemented that helps to meet the define scope and aim. Such
that by applying all the seven stages of the project methodology, it will be easy for project
manager to determine the scope and it is complying with the set standards as well (Akbar,
Khan and Adnan, 2020). Therefore, by introducing new software for the company, it will be
easy to get more deals and contract from the company so that it directly enhance the financial
position of the company in better manner.
Also, it is analyzed that schedule of the project is met as per the set standards and that
is why, it can be stated that project is stay with original scope. Further, there is a slight
fluctuation in the budget, because of using extra human resource in order to meet the define
aim with specified deadline. Hence, proper meeting is set up in order to let project team
members know about any changes done in the project (Sanders, 2016). As the estimated cost
of the project is £135000, but actually by adding new human resource will increase the
project cost up to £13750. This slightly change affect the project in negative manner and
project manager needs approval from the sponsor and other stakeholder in order to manage
the work and meet the define aim and objectives in better manner as well.
Describing the changes that have been done to complete the project
The first and foremost thing which have been done to complete the project is changes
in the budget. Such that due to change in the human resource rate and addition of labor, the
budget is increases and it is essential for the company to meet the aim with a specified

deadline. So, the budget is increases which help to complete the project. Also, training is also
provided in order to let the human resource understand the situation and then apply the same.
Proper communication plan is also developed which help the firm to let the people know
about the changes made by the project manager in order to meet the define aim (Lewis,
2017). In addition to this, this communication plan assist the project manager to assign the
duties and monitor the progress of each task in better manner.
On the other side, another change is to maintain the risk register which help the
company to meet the define aim. As every project has its own risk and that is why, it is the
duty of the project manager to determine the risk and through effective risk register mention
the risk and implement the changes accordingly. Therefore, to introducing the new software
to expand the existing network of Carphone Warehouse, it is necessary for the company to
hire new IT specialist who have enough knowledge with regards to implement new software
within a firm in order to manage the project and meet the define aim and objectives as well
(Davenport and Harris, 2017). Thus, it is stated that it is the duty of the project manager to
make sure that staff members who are involve in the project must have an enough knowledge
and know the project aim as well so that they will easily meet the objectives with the
specified deadlines.
Lesson learnt
From the project, it is analyzed that the overall journey of the project is good and I
also learn many things during the project such that through this study, I learn how to manage
the time by prioritize the task. This in turn also assist to manage the work in better manner in
future. Further, in the project, the best thing is the knowledge which I gain from this because
earlier I do not have a deep knowledge related to the project. As it is my first project and that
is why, I feel excited to complete the project because through this, I learn many new things
such that its success criteria, key factors etc.
On the other side, I also analyzed that with the deadline and proper collaboration of
the project members, I am able to complete the project in define deadline. Also, I analyzed
that there were some things that will not work well i.e. determine the risk and its negative
impact upon the project. As I am working alone in this project and that is why, it is not easy
for me to accept the changes and take action accordingly. That is why, for the future, It is
recommended that in future when the project is happened, I prefer to work in a team because

working in a team will be more beneficial and this will assist to meet the sort out many
problem without any error.
Moreover, through the project I enhance my current knowledge and raise hard and
soft skill as well. As it was my first project and it is not easy to perform the work and but I
learn many things. Like, I enhance my communication skills and improve my writing skills as
well.in addition to this, I also improve my critical thinking abilities which in turn assist to
develop the scope of the project, further, I enhance my research skills because it is a new
topic on which I am researching. Such that when I select this project, I think study on this
topic will help me to improve my technical skill and also learn new thing related to
technologies. So, it is clearly analyzed that I improve many skills and also identified the areas
which needs improvement as well. Such that while study on this project, I analyzed that there
is a need to improve the research style because, I found difficulty while searching any key
terms i.e. time, schedule and risk.
Beside this, I also analyzed that there is a need to improve the research skills and oral
communication skills which will help me to improve the future projects as well. Also, it is
also recommended that when the same project is done in future (Kerzner, 2017). I should
make effective planning and make a draft of an entire project so that it will not affect the
entire project in negative manner. Through this, it is analyzed that while working in this
project, I make a list of all the measurement through which the criteria of success is measures
and this will assist me to meet the define aim and objectives as well.
Risk identified
Earlier when the project is conducted, researcher analyzed many risk that may creates
negative impact upon the project such that the foremost risk which affect the new software
development in Carphone Warehouse is Technical risk which is directly link with IT and it
affect the project operations in negative manner as well. Therefore, in order to manage the
risk, project manager should make sure that they have highly skilled IT professionals who
manage any technical risk and they immediately change the machine as well in order to
improve the project efficiency (Stofkova and Hraskova, 2020).
On the other side, another risk which is identified is related to human resource and
this is so because when there may be chances that one of the human resource or project team
member may got ill and that is why, it affected the result in negative manner as well. Further,
at this situation, project manager should make sure that they have another substitute so that it

will not cause any negative impact upon the project and did not leads to delay the same. Also,
there is a need to maintain the risk register in which all the risk is determine which in turn
help the project to complete the define aim and objectives as well and also minimize the
project risk too.
CONCLUSION
By summing up above report it has been concluded that investing in this project is
beneficial for the company because it help to control the quality, attract range of customers,
provide innovative product to the customers etc. Also, by using PRINCE2 as a project
methodology also assist the company to successfully implement the project in positive
manner. Also, it has been concluded that project stay within its original scope and that is
why, it is able to meet the define aim and objectives in better manner. Lastly, report
concluded that researcher also learn many things i.e time management strategies,
communication strategies which help to conduct future project in better manner. Also, some
risk are also identified which clearly shows that there is a need to overcome with this issues
early to successfully implement the project.
