Change Management
Project management plan is a document which covers the various aspects of the project and the
business as a whole. There are various types of project management models which are chosen by
the companies for completing the project in an effective manner. Before adopting any model or
approach for handling the project, the company analysis all the strengths and weakness of the
models and approaches and select the best one accordingly. The project plan enables the
company to collect all the necessities of the project, properly define the scope of the project,
create appropriate WBS, develop control actions and carry out the project in an effective and
appropriate manner. Traditional project management only focuses on the identification of the
activities and completing them within the specified time period. A feedback is provided by the
project manager on the project so that changes can be made and the overall project can be
enhanced according to the objectives and aims of the organisation (Nordin, et. al., 2012).
There are certain factors which are required to be considered while selecting the best approach or
method of managing the project. Organisational goals and objectives, core values, project
constraints and hurdles, stakeholders of the project, size of the project, costs associated with the
project, risk bearing ability, flexibility needs etc are some of the factors which are considered by
the management while selecting the suitable approach or method for handling the project.
Different approaches and methods have different benefits of handling the project and bring
positive and desired outcome. Linear project management lifecycle is the most suitable way of
handling the project. It is based on the assumptions that all the information is available to carry
out the project effectively and is complied with the goals of the project.
According to Verhulst and Lambrechts (2015), changes and developments in the project are
made due to various reasons and are managed accordingly. The change request is the first step in
the procedure of handling the change in the project. Changes and developments are required for
making the project much more effective and profitable for the business. Change request enables
the project manager to decide whether the model or approach selected for carrying out the
project is suitable enough to handle and manage the change in the project (Verhulst and
Lambrechts, 2015).
