Project Management Competencies:
While a project is in the execution stage, the project manager plays an important role
within the project. For executing the project in successful manner it is very much important for
the project managers to have some important traits. This traits will also make the project
managers very much effective in the context of project management procedures. While global
project management is considered there are various of personal traits which must be possessed
by the project managers so that all the projects managed by them will have greater efficiency
(Kerzner, 2017). The important traits that need to be possessed by the project managers are the
positive attitude, good communication skills, honesty and organization. In the following section
why these traits are important in this context will be discussed.
Positive Attitude: Positive attitude is one of the most important traits which a project
manager must consist. Both the, good and bad attitudes can impact the project and can
make it faster or can make it failure (Nicholas & Steyn, 2017). Here positive attitudes
reflects the good side of the project managers which is very much important to achieve
successful and faster project completion. Thus all the project managers must possess the
positive attitude traits. Communication Skills: Communication skills are crucial as project manager needs to
explain various aspects of the project which includes assignments related with the
project, timeline of the project and project status update to all the stakeholders of the
project (Kurtz, Draper & Silverman, 2017). For this effective communication skills is
required from the end of project manager. Thus trait is important for the project manager. Honesty: Honesty is very much important to build the trust among the employees of an
organization. Here trust among the employees are important as this is crucial for

successful completion of the project. If there is no trust among the employees then it is
quite much obvious that the project will become a failure. For this the project manager
must be honest so there is enough trust between the team members and the project
manager for success of the project. Due to this honesty is important trait for the project so
that they become most effective. Organization: For a project to become successful there various of items which must be
handled very well by the project manager and these includes deliverables, tasks,
approvals and meetings. All of these tasks must be organized properly by the project
manager so that the executing project become successful. Organizing might be sounds
easy but it is extremely difficult job and for that project manager must be a good
organized person in nature. For this reason project manager must have the organizing
trait.
Project Selection Methods:
Methods of project selection are very much important so that perfect project for a
particular organization can be chosen. Through the project selection methods the organization
will become capable of getting maximized profit from the chosen project. Currently there are
two types of project selection methodology which are the benefit measurement method and
constrained optimization method. One of this type of project where project selection method can
be utilized is the new Royal Adelaide Hospital (Pangsri, 2015). In this case project selection
method of benefit measurement can be utilized. Through this actual acceptance of this project
can be utilized. The main processes of this project selection method which can be used for this
project are the cost-benefit ratio, scoring model and the internal rate of return.
